  1. Yes I did consider Dr Fellers generous offer but there were only 200 grafts to be found in the donor site in the UK and Dr Beehner made me an offer I couldn't refuse ; 600 + grafts he promised and he actually found 753 on Oct 16th (and he said he left behind 200) so imo the trip was worthwhile for a guy my age.
  2. I had the extraction procedure done by Dr Beehner - google Bachstrad Beehner which should bring up some photos but if you only have 20 you could cover them with a HT ?
  3. Going to Dr Beehner for a try at filling in behind the hairline. Will be quite a turn around if it comes off - pictures, good or bad to follow in new year.
  4. As request a while back (I grew it in summer break to remind me what it looks like) Hair is 1 inch gelled back. Density is not bad but I would need several hundred behind the hairline as I have on the left hand side (centre photo)to give some depth to the hairline . Crown is not an issue.
  5. I too had my first HT in the seventies and like you I have hardly any donor hair so my question was going to be how did the beard hair take but I guess it's probably too early for you to give an answer yet.
  6. He is a true professional in every sense. I've seen him twice so can I have 2 votes
  7. Dr Feller, your transplant work is exceptional but with the horse shoe shape at the front I am limited to shaving it down or a comb over and I gave up with the comb over. If I could get it filled in I would grow it but fue is not in my price range. Dr Beehner did re transplant some of the plugs and no complaints but I would need about 1000 behind the hairline to blend both sides before I could grow it back.
  8. A couple of photos after dermabrasion and a few extracted plugs, both procedures from Dr Beehner. Only marks left are freckles. This was a second procedure because apparently with plug removal there are always a few that still grow so a second pass is required and while I was there Dr Beehner also did some dermabrasion. Unlikely to be of any interest to anyone under 45 but now I know that "old school " plugs can be reversed, and without breaking the bank.
  9. Waterloo, to my knowledge all plugs were sutured . I think the photo was taken during the procedure. I would say 3 months were needed before I had the confidence to go out hatless. It seems to be healing from front to back for some reason and at 6 months the front half has almost fully healed imo so the next 6 months should heal the rest. Come summer I will get some sun on my head and should be good to go.
  10. Yes I had a procedure with Dr Feller and I was very impressed at having a hairline for the first time in 30 years but just having a hairline is one dimentional and reality is not so I still needed to get rid of the plugs which could still be seen from the side and the back. Unfortunately I didn't have the donor to camouflage enough of the head as I was butchered about 30 years ago.
  11. Hi Spex, I'm fine . Hope you and your new family had a good xmas. I put the photos up as I found it so hard to find any myself of large plug removal. I took a chance going to Dr Beehner but I think I made the right choice. As for any more work, possibly get the stray hairs left behind taken out but other than that I don't contemplate anything although if anyone can recommend a good place for dermabrasion in the UK I would be interested.
  12. 6 month pics of plug removal by Dr Beehner. So far so good imo.
  13. If my memory serves me right, Elton John had his transplant in France(Paris I think) by 2 brothers circa 1976.
  14. Im seeing Dr Beehner next month (volcanic ash permitting) for a repair involving plug removal if that's any use to your info gathering but maybe not if you only had strip procedures.
  15. Topcat - hope all goes well but what happened to your plugs from previous surgery ?
  16. Sparky - I shaved for several years and used camoufalge makeup - trying to move forward now which is why I had the hairline done.
  17. Thanks for all replies, especially Dr Feller as he knows my hair as well as anyone. I was hoping to get maybe 200 hairs to put in the front centre to blend in with the 2 sides which are slightly thicker due to an old transplant. 200 on most people wouldn't make any difference but on me I think it would. Plugs being too close is something I never thought about but I can see how it would make suturing more difficult so a minimun 2 visits is on the cards.
  18. Thanks for info behappy - appreciate it. Plug removal seems to be only answer and put any hairs grabbed into the hairline. I have to get a doc that doesn't shave recipient area. Don't know much about fue but do most docs shave recipient ?
  19. Interesting Sparky. I have loads of body hair 1 inch long . Am also interested to find docs that do scalp reduction as a way to reduce the plugs but doubt if anyone on this board is old enough to have had it done.
  20. Yes Sparky - I am looking into Dr Bissanga as one option on this side of the water. Need someone who can utilise the hairs from the plugs. I'm finding that some of the repair docs are pushing BHT. I thought BHT was ignored by the top docs as the yield was too low ? If BHT worked I wouldn't have a problem !
  21. This pic shows my crown which is my main concern although plugs go all the way to the front. Never heard of Dr Harris. Hope to see a couple of docs in UK in New Year.
  22. Scar5 - I have contacted about 12 docs and NOT including the ones who wanted $25000 I have one who can remove all plugs and one who wants to remove a handful for fear of further complications so I have both ends of the spectrum but most have declined - reason being imo there is no donor hair to hide any work done so no comparison to Jotronic. Dare say you had donor hair to camouflage your plug removals too.
  23. Thanks - I did contact the Dr but it seems I am not a good candidate. All stems from no donor and amount of plugs. They seem to try to scare me off by saying I will be left with linear scars. They don't seem to realise it is either that or a skin graft with one mother of a scar. In the UK a personality called Russ Abbott had his plugs removed but I've never been able to find out where he went. Looks a sweet job so I know it can be done which makes it harder stop looking.
  24. I too am looking to get rid of the plugs in the crown (to start) and it is amazingly difficult to find anyone that is affordable. Dr Bernstein $85 a plug and Dr Lindsey $100 a plug.
