Hope you have great results srm73.  I resumed Rogaine at 21 days as directed by Doctor Cooley, and had no issues with that or the rubbing while applying it.  I also wore a hat a fair amount, but tried to wear it looser than usual.  By 1.5 months out you your grafts should stay put, so I think you should be good to go.  Like you I was super careful not to damage the grafts, but at this point they should be fine with washing and other activities.

Thank you for your response GrowingHair. The reason I asked about re-starting rogaine is because at 1 month mark, I once used rogaine on my crown with very gentle rubbing in circular motion very carefully, as a result I saw a lot of transplanted hair shed because of the rubbing. Most likely the were the shafts only which were going to shed sooner or later anyway, but I got scared. But its good to know that at this point my grafts should be secure enough.

  2. Hi all,

I had my HT( FUE) done 1.5 months ago mainly on my crown and in the temples area. As expected, after 3 weeks or so, the transplanted hair started to shed and now they are about 60 to 70% gone.  I followed post op instructions and started with baby shampoo washing after like 6 days or so. I avoided putting my head directly under the shower for 25 days post op. After that I started putting my head under shower but am still afraid to do any rubbing even for shampoo. I am still pouring shampoo water on my head and only rinsing it directly under shower now, but still without any rubbing. The reason for this fear is that I am afraid whatever number of transplanted grafts are left, I might loose those also.

My first question is, if its ok for me to rub shampoo in my hair normally or I should avoid any rubbing at this stage? The person at the clinic told me that I can start re-using rogain in my crown area again after 25 days and it will help a faster growth. Honestly I am afraid to even do that as it involves rubbing.

I wore a surgical cap on my head for about 4 days and started wearing a soft cloth cap as I had to go to work. I wore this cap for about a month and than switched to a baseball cap. I am still wearing it daily to my work.

My second question is that can this cap cause any problem for the grafts or their growth mainly in the temple area as its touches the skin there?

I will appreciate any instructions/ comments. Thanks in advance.

  3. Thank you for your input Panamera13. Its very unfortunate that one of the main meds for hair loss has such side effects. But what can we do. I do use toppik actually. But am kind of getting tired of it mainly because have to wash it off every day. with the speed my crown is expanding, I think I wont be able to use Toppik anymore. Meaning it"ll look odd on a completely hair less surface. Thats the reason I want to get it over with using topik any more by getting the HT.

I actually havent got any answer from anyone for one of my main question that with the amount of hair loss in my crown area, is it the right time to get an HT or no? I'll appreciate any inputs.

  4. Hi all. I had my first HT done four years ago on front of my head. Crown area was also thinning but was still ok at the time. Now 4 years later I am thinking of getting a 2nd HT mainly in the crown area. I m including 2 photos taken 3 years back and today, for comparison.

Based on the amount i have lost over 3 years, do you think its a good time for me to get the HT in the crown area?

I am also thinking of getting some hair transplanted in the temple area of my forehead. I have almost lost my temple points. Also I am thinking of getting some more hair added to my current hairline to  make it more straight. This actually brings me to a few questions.
1: Is it safe to plant new grafts close to old transplanted hair?
2: Regrowth of the old transplanted hair will be normal like my natural hair?

I will appreciate any inputs from you guys. Thanks in advance.

  5. Srm73,

As HTSoon now, this community does recommends a few excellent hair transplant surgeons in Turkey. On the right-hand side bar of this community, you will see at the top To drop-down boxes, one listing surgeons my name and another surgeons by location. I recommend using that feature in order to learn more about each hair transplant surgeon we recommend, especially those in Turkey.

Also, if you post some photos, our community can give you our genuine input on how many grafts we think you would be eligible for and more information. Notes of course, that just because a particular forum member or members provided you a with a certain number, doesn’t mean that this should replace the expert advice of a hair restoration surgeon.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

Thank you for the information Bill. I will pass this info to my brother. I will also ask him to create his own profile and get some expert opinions on this forum. Its an awesome forum and the information available is priceless. Thanks again.

  6. Dont limit yourself by geographic location, look for results. With that said, our recommended physician Dr. Erdogan, is consistently putting out quality work. You can use the “find a surgeon “ function on the top right corner of the screen, to find recommended doctors in your area. Remember research slowly, dont make any impulsive decisions consult with as many doctors as possible.

Thank you Melvin-HTsoon for your input. I will pass this info to my brother.

  7. Thank you for the suggestions everyone.

You have one of the better clinics in the world in your back yard.

Have him do a consult with Matt at Shapiro Medical Group.

It would also be wise to look in Dr Konior in Chicago. He is considered by many to be the very best in the business but he does have a long waiting list.

Your brother won't have to travel very far to consult/visit with two of the best clinics.

I have never heard of the doctor you referenced.:eek:

Thank you for the suggestions Wazam. I heard about Shapiro group. But there are 3 names that come up. "Dr. David Josephitis, Ron and Paul Shapiro. I assume all of them are equally well reputed?

I will tell my bro to try and consult with Dr Konior also.

  8. Hi all,

My older brother is thinking of getting an HT. He is from Minnesota USA and had a recent visit to Dr. Jason Champagne. Wondering if anyone had any information about his work or anyone who had a procedure done by him could share their experience?

I told him to get a 2nd opinion and wondering if anyone has any recommendation of docs in Minnesota? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  9. Hi all. Its been 2.5 years since I got my FUT HT done and I want to share my experience with everyone.

I got my HT at " Seager Hair Transplant" based in Toronto. My surgeon was Dr. Nelson Ferreira. I got 3070 grafts. My procedure took about 9 hours. It was a good experience as I was offered lunch and got to watch a few movies during the procedure.

My progress was a usual one. There was very little progress in the first 3 months but right after hitting the 4.5 month mark, my hair grew dramatically. In my opinion my transplanted hair were fully grown in 10 months and honestly I haven't noticed much of an improvement after that. There might have been some improvement in hair texture. I am posting some progress photos as well as a few before and after photos for comparison. Thank you all.

  10. Thanks for all the comments and liking my hair guys. I think you are right starscream about a natural looking hairline. My HT doc also said the same thing when I asked about the gaps in the hair line that it would've looked un natural with closed gaps. He also said that if I am looking for 100% natural look, its almost impossible to get that. We can try to match it as close as possible. Its all making seance to me now. Thanks again for all the comments.

  11. Hi everyone. I am posting some new photos taken today as my 8 month update. I honestly did not see any improvement from 6 months. I want your opinion on this. I met my HT doc earlier in the start of march and he said that he was quite happy with my results. I asked him if its going to get any better than this and he said my hair will still keep filling in more up to 12 or may be 16 months, but he said since I am an early grower, I am not going to see a noticeable difference.

I want to ask everyone if some is an early grower and has very good growth at 6 months, can this happen where he has pretty much all hair fully grown and doesn't see any more improvement? I'll appreciate any opinions on this.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. The shedding is part of the process so if you can live thru those few months the idea is you come out better on the other side.

My experience with minox has not been very good. In fact I am kind of disappointed. I am going to post my before and after pics in a separate thread. My crown area looks worse than before after more than 10 months of rogaine 5% usage.

  13. If you are using rogaine you might as well not bother starting with nioxin, especially the scalp treatment.. just use the shampoo and conditioner (even though both are more or less for the cosmetic appearance ) rather than treating the dht issue

Thank you for the information Spidey. I just wonder if rogaine doesn't treat dht, how does it help grow new hair? I am sorry for such a silly question but does anyone know how it works?

  14. Hi All,

Someone on the forum highly recommended Nioxin hair system kit for thinning hair. It comes with a shampoo, conditioner and a scalp treatment. I want to give it a try but not sure if the scalp treatment can be used with rogaine or not. I am currently using Rogaine 5% foam twice a day.

Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
