  1. So what happened with your HT? Did you get botched? Doctors like her can really leave alot of young men with a life of misery by talking them out of fin for no reason... Yeah i will keep you all up to date with the regrowth, i can see lots of small dark hairs popping up around both sides of the hairline, i asked Dr Bisanga what might happen to the regrowth after i fully taper off the steroids, he said he can’t say for sure but it might keep regrowing if the reaction is that it is regrowing after the inflammation being wiped out, well that’s the hope anyway... What is worrying though is the miniturisation of the donor area, it’s super thick density wise but has miniturised hairs mixed in, this may mean i can never have a HT due to the risk of them planting these hairs... He did say most people my age would kill for hair like mine which was a very nice compliment... Thanks
  2. Hello guys, i’m 35, NW2, and have been maintaining well on propecia for 4 years and Minoxidil for 5 years I have just had a consultation with Dr Bisanga in London, a few interesting things were revealed to me, him and his secretary Hilde seemed like really great honest people, and i appreciated the fact they didn’t push with a sales agenda... First of all i need to point out that i have had some unexpected regrowth at the hairline which i have only just noticed in recent weeks after i booked the consultation, but i thought i would still go ahead with it just to see if Dr Bisanga thinks it is regrowth... When i walked in he just looked and said “wow” i think this was in relation to the fact i don’t look like i have hairloss, i proceeded to explain that i had a consultation with Dr Lupanzula last year who suggested i needed 1700 grafts to fill in the hairline for me to be able to have a hairstyle in which i can brush the hair up or back... The first thing that was interesting is that he said that i have definitely had regrowth looking at my pics from last year compared to now, and because of this he said i don’t need a hair transplant and i should wait to see if the small hairs growing on the hairline will be terminal and grow long... The second interesting thing which shocked the Dr is that i appear to have small miniturisation of the donor area on the sides, to which he said would be risky to transplant with... I appear to have great density, he only checked the sides and said it was 90 per sq cm, and suggested it could be even thicker at the back, this is a bit of a shame as i know i would have a great result if i needed it in the future, but the fact i have a bit of miniturisation in the side donor really throws a spanner in the works... Oh and the only theory that me and Dr Bisanga can come up with with regards to what is causing the regrowth is the fact i have been on a course of Prednisolone for a bowel condition which has cleared up, and the Dr believes that the Prednisolone may be causing the regrowth given hair loss has an inflammatory factor to it, it also might be the fact i have been taking daily peppermint capsules for the last 4 months... Anyway, here are some pics, the first few are from last years consultation with Dr Lupanzula, then there is a pic of me pulling my hairline back last year followed by a pic i took last week showing the regrowth / thickening - The last photo was taken last week, i don’t know why it’s gone through sideways so you’ll have to turn your phone’s or heads around to see it, has anyone had any experience with regrowth from Prednisolone or similar steroids? Thanks
  3. I'm with you on this Benny, and I'm also considering Dr Bisanga, and having researched pretty much every result of his on this website over the weekend I too am confused as to the so called needing of a 2nd hair transplant in all cases. Some of the 1st time results of his look incredible and dense enough, I'm told I only need 1800 grafts and my density is 120 / 120 / 90 so I would be a bit gutted if my results were not good enough that I "needed" a 2nd pass, the worry in my case is I have dark hair and pale skin. I'll be following your story.
  4. Ha! Yeah the little bit at the front i have shaved for years in my shameful quest for a straight hairline, i even grow the temple corners down then cut the hair straight across.. But this is the problem, for years i have created a NW1 looking hairstyle by doing the above along with using hair straighteners to spike the hair up a cm or so behind where the fringe starts, it takes about 1 hour to do and doesn’t even look that good, it’s tiring and i’m regularly late for everything trying to get it to look right... So that’s where the want for a hair transplant comes from, i want to be able to brush or spike it up at the front like the below picture, i appreciate the compliment of me having alot of hair, but i think a good result enabling me to have the style i want that doesn’t take an hour to do would really change my life and my confidence, i get alot of stick from friends about my weird hairstyle, yet i’d rather have a weird hairstyle than brushing it back and exposing my receding hairline... I should also point out that alot of hairs at the front are miniiturised and only grow a few cm’s, so even growing it out as it is would be difficult. Do you think like most people say - i would need 2 HT’s to achieve the desired result? Thanks
  5. Yeah, i have just seen a few recent Dr Lupanzula results that are lacking in density and Bisanga seems to have a bigger body of work with alot of dense results... I actually want an Erdogan type hairline shape, the reason i can’t go to Erdogan is because i’m a nervous flyer and the nearest best surgeons to me without having to jump on a plane are in Belgium where i could drive or get a train to. Here are some photo’s of the proposed hairline Dr Lupanzula drew on me, he said my density is - 120 / 120 / 90
  6. Hello fella’s As per the title i’m wanting to know opinions if on which surgeon you think is best? I had a consultation with Dr Lupanzula last year who said i’m a great candidate for a hair transplant with an amazing density, maintaining on finasteride, 35 yrs old etc, i’d probably need 1900 grafts. I’m wanting a new hairline creating as i’m around NW2.5 and simply cant style my hair easily any more without exposing the receding hairline. I initially was impressed with alot of Lupanzula’s work but certain results have left me wondering if i would get a sufficient density with him compared with Dr Bisanga I have got a consultation with Dr Bisanga in London in May so will pose all questions to him, in the meantime i was wondering who you guys would choose out of these 2 surgeons for a lower, straighter and denser hairline? Cheers
  7. Hello everyone I'm a 34 year old male from the UK, i have suffered slow hairloss from the age of around 21 at the temples and crown. Been on Minoxidil for 4 years which caused decent crown thickening or regrowth, and Finasteride for 3 years which thickened fhe crown even more to the point it is only slightly visible. My receding hairline seems to have been halted or is very slow on the fin, but i'm at a point now and have been for many years where i have limited hairstyle options at the front, and have had the same complex forward combed hairstyle using concealer and hair straighteners to decieve people i'm a norwood 1 for years. The hair loss and hairstyle i'm shackled to is really getting to me now because it takes me 1 hour to do it every morning and i'm always late getting anywhere because of it, the rest of my hair is very thick so i basically do that thing where you grow the fringe then cut it across in a straight line to make it appear a NW1, then i use straighteners 2-3cm's behind to spike it up, it really looks ridiculous and i have been mocked over it for years, but convinced myself i'd take people thinking i've got a s**t hairstyle over balding any day of the week. But seen as though i have stabalised the loss and have still got alot of hair left, i have been considering a HT to be able to finally spike or brush my hair up at the front. I have been reading and researching for years on these forums, and have always thought of visiting Belgium for the HT, Erdogan in Turkey would prob be my first choice but i have a fear of flying so that's out the window, i have considered Bisanga and Feriduni in the past but have been very impressed with Lupanzula in the last 6 months or so. I had a consultation with him last week and found him and his assistant Eva very friendly and knowledgable, he wasn't pushy either which i liked, my dad (who was with me) actually asked the Dr if he thought i needed the procedure which he said he didn't but that he understands the concerns and needs patients have. Dr Lupanzula said i have a very high density in my donor zone, then drew a proposed hairline which i will post below, i have to admit i wasn't 100% satisfied with the hairline, i thought it was rounded up too much in the corners and could have been straighter and lower, yet the Dr assured me by taking measurements of my forehead, nose, and chin that this would achieve the most natural looking result. Here are my hair stats and pics - Number of grafts - 1700 - 1800 Donor area - Very good density - 120 / 120 / 90 He didn't provide my donor capacity which i can always e-mail them for. So i have a few questions 1) what do you think of the proposed hairline? I have maybe been appreciating Erdogan's too much hoping to have one like he performs. Would i be able to persuede Dr Lupanzula to go slightly lower at the corners? 2) Given i can get by everyday (with alot of stress) looking like a NW1 is it worth having the procedure and going through the pain, the waiting, and the inevitable game of catch up i might have to play with more surgeries down the line? 3) given there is alot of hype over new treatments in the next 3-5 years should i wait it out for these (Brotzu, Tsuji etc) ? 4) is it worth risking shock loss? Thank you
  8. Yeah any flight over 2 hours and I'm really struggling, but some of his work looks incredible... Whilst on the subject of Belgium surgeons, are there any others other than Feriduni and Bisanga that are in their league if not better? I know there is De Reys and Mwamba but I haven't done much research on them yet. Thanks!
  9. Yeah i have been reading alot about Koray Erdogan, amazing results, but a bit too far for me especially with the chance of follow up appontments and procedures...
  10. Hello comrades! What a great resourceful forum! Ok i will try keep it as brief as possible... I'm 32 years of age from the UK, been slowly receding for 10 years and thinning on the crown for about 7, i would say i'm between a Norwood 2 and 2.5 (i will upload pics soon) My current treatments are - Minoxidil 5% for about 2 years - initial crown thickening but nothing to shout about. Finasteride for 1 year, 0.5 for 6 months and upped the dose to 1mg back in Jan this year - results have been impressive on the crown, noticeable thickening and possible regrowth, however my hairline from the start seems to have gotten worse, before fin i had what you could call a few rows of miniturised hairs in front of my hairline when pulled back, and 1 year after fin they have all but disappeared (i had high hopes that fin would turn these into stronger more terminal looking hairs) So, the fin has worked on my crown yet raped and pillaged my hairline, which has turned me from a lurker of hairloss forums for many years, to creating an account to post here because i'm now depressed and fed up enough to now be considering a HT. My current and only hairstyle for the last 10 years has been the same, i keep it short at the back and sides and cropped on top, but i create a visual NW1 hairline by cutting the middle part of it as close as possible, then i grow my receded corners down and trim them level and voila!! I kind of look like i have got a strong hairline from a distance... Throw into this some straighteners, some toppik / nanogen, and 1 hours worth of elaborate hairstyling every morning and im confident enough that nobody i know thinks im suffering from hairloss....but it has become exhausting, debilitating, and depressing....basically i have let myself become a slave to my hair and it's ruining my life... Ok i need to cut to the chase....i'm considering a transplant, but i'm s**t scared of flying, i WILL get on a plane but it's really not ideal.. So after some research i have narrowed down potential surgeons to Spain or Belgium.. I would like to have my receded corners of my hairline filling in and bringing down so i can finally grow it and not be scared the expose it with varying hairstyles, i would also save some for filling in a bit of the crown... So i guess a rough estimate would be 1500-2000 grafts, majority into the hairline and the rest in the crown. The surgeons i currently have in mind are - Dr Feriduni Dr Bisanga Dr Lorenzo (plane journey) I would say i'd sway more towards the aggressive hairlines than the conservative ones, so maybe there is some other sugeons someone can recommend? And what is the general consensus currently on the surgeons listed? They seem to change alot in popularity i guess as their results are constantly posted etc... And one final question - how do they do their consultations when it's a surgeon abroad? Do they Skype the patient then book them in for the surgery if they feel they are suitable? Sorry for rambling! Kind regards
