  1. Dermatch worked well for me, even when pretty short, providing there are enough hairs for the fibres to attach to. Eventually I went for a ht as the concealer was no longer working as I continued to lose more and more hairs. But I didn't find a problem using Dermatch on short hair.
  2. Growth is good - I've attached a pic. Feeling like my old self again (pre hair loss). Still got few months to go until the end result, but very positive so far. I have had problems with the psoriasis on and off but on the whole I have managed to control it and have good growth in the area. Health Travel have been great with me. Elizabeth (my patient advocate) has been very patient with me and given me lots of advice, she pointed me to some specific pharmaceutical products for psoriasis to use for washing and conditioning and dying the hair.
  3. I definately agree with this. I don't think it makes sense to have a scar for such a small amount of grafts. I would say, if you are adamant about proceeding now, that you should put some time in doing more research about your FUE options with different doctors so that you can acheive the small number that you need now but without getting the scar. Otherwise, if you're set on FUT, I would definately wait until your pattern evens out and need more grafts which which maybe justify being left with the scar. Just imagine the worst case scenario that you go ahead now and then continue to lose hair into your 20s and 30s and need a second op, you'll end up with 2 scars. I know scars are not as bad as they used to be but it's still something to consider especially if you have thin hair or like to wear it short.
  4. Karl! Much better to have the video in it's own thread, just watched it again! Congrats on the new addition to the family!! Here's hoping that baby no 3 doesn't make you lose any hair now that you've had it restored
  5. I agree with the guys, I think you can definitely pull it off. I wish I could, I have a really bumpy odd shaped head and don't look good with facial hair! Definitely suits you.
  6. Wow great video Karl! I almost missed it, you should make a new thread for it. I wish I had some of the confidence you have! I kept my ht a secret from everybody. I know I shouldn't be ashamed but more than anything I suppose I was (and still am to a degree) nervous that it won't look how I want and people will think it was a silly decision. All looking good at the moment though, had a few problems with my psoriasis returning a little which is more than annoying but in general I think I'm on track. I think your Q & A will be good for lots of people. Before I took the plunge I read lots of detailed blogs by patients who described the whole thing day by day, hour by hour which was invaluable, but I think even though yours is quite simple, I found it really engaging so good job!...p.s..you aren't so far away from those dreadlocks!!
  7. Hey man, here are some new pics. Starting to come in a little now after the shedding! Have you got dreadlocks by now?
  8. To be honest it was much better than I was expecting. I'm a real worrier and over analyse everything. Sometimes I'm shocked that I even went ahead with it and I know I must have driven my patient liaison crazy because without exaggeration I hounded them with questions for over a year. The whole thing was pretty much a breeze compared to what I thought it was going to be. Like you say, I was well taken care of and the standard of clinic totally exceeded my expectations, I think that's when I relaxed for the first time since booking. I suffer from psoriasis on and off so there was a lot of back and forth with the surgeons and my dermatologist here about whether I could have the ht or not but thankfully I got the green light. Been taking pics as I go but I will put some when I have been able to dye my hair again (only 1 week left til it's safe so I'm told). Here is one pre-op and one post-op for now.
  9. I have to agree here, I had a bad experience with Propecia and wish I hadn't tried it. I know a couple of guys who have tried it and been fine on it but I didn't agree with me at all.
  10. I have to say this looks so good and is really encouraging because looking at your pics you looked totally different before!! I went with HTI and hope mine turns out as good as yours - congratulations KConK!
