  1. Yes, my doctor did remove the previous scar at the same time. He told me that after this particular transplant that my scar should heal nicely, but that there was no guarantee, and that I could come back and he'd remove it again once it heals. I did see the scar, but it was an unfortunate accident one month after my transplant when I got a number 6 buzz cut and I was shocked to see my donor area showing. It was obviously a very stupid decision and I had to hide the scar with Toppik and black hair color lipstick for at least a good 3 weeks. It was the size of your typical strip donor scar.
  2. Thanks guys for the replies! I decided I'm going to keep my length at 1 inch still. I'm not sure how much redness I may still have, but I used a mirror to try to look at the back of my head and I still noticed some redness. Mine as well be on the safe side for now, right? Would you say around the 9 month mark is when most people's donor area is fully healed?
  3. I had my last strip hair transplant just over 4 months ago (4 months and 9 days ago to be exact). I'm getting a haircut in the next few days, and was wondering if I get a scissor cut on the sides and back to about a half an inch would my donor area show? I'm not using a guard or blade at all. Just scissors. Thanks in advance for any responses or tips!!!
  4. Hello fellow forum members. I'm actually making this thread on behalf of my younger brother who needs some advice on traveling to Turkey. He's planning a hair transplant session with Dr. Hakan Doganay in Turkey for this December, but is REALLY nervous about traveling out of the country. Any advice/tips to make his traveling a bit easier and less stressful? What things should he get in order besides his passport/visa? Any tips from anyone that actually went to Dr. Hakan Doganay would especially be much appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Really, that soon? I just had a third FUT exactly 1 month ago from today & my scar is still visible with #6 clippers. I was shocked when I first noticed it. I'm using a lipstick-type color-me-grey concealer that I bought from Sally's Beauty to cover it until I have enough growth. I never buzzed my hair with my first two FUT's, so I have nothing to compare it to.
  6. Dr. Blake, how long, in general, do you recommend waiting to buzz it with a #4 or higher after a hair transplant? How long does it take for the scar, generally speaking, to heal enough where it's not visible with a semi-short buzz cut? Thanks.
  7. To be honest, I think your hair looks amazing overall. But, ultimately, it's the way you perceive yourself that's most important. So if your hair is giving you anxiety and hardship, by all means go to a qualified hair transplant surgeon and get their opinion.
  8. Ok, luckily I'm a fast thinker. I was able to buy a Cover Me Grey pen stick from Sally's Beauty to blotch on my donor scar. It's not totally gone, but it's SO MUCH BETTER. For anyone to notice it, they'd have to literally hold the back of my head and examine it really close. On that note, I really need a general answer to this question. I got a strip transplant a month ago, so how long do I have to wait before the donor scar is healed to the point that #6 clippers would still be able to hide the scar with my native hair? Anyone? Thanks. Much appreciated. Oooooh. The anxiety about this whole experience is definitely not my cup of tea!!!
  9. HELP!!!! I did a #6 clipper cut today and my donor scar is still visible!!!! Any ideas on how to make it less visible???? I should've just stuck with a #8!!!
  10. Maybe it's just my paranoia and worrying running rampant, but I'm planning to get a haircut almost 4 weeks after my transplant. I understand that getting a haircut is ok, but is using actual clippers to cut the recipient sites ok, too? It shouldn't make a difference as long as the grafts are set (and by that time, they definitely are), right? I wanted to use #6 clippers on the top of my head and all over the rest of my head to even out what was cut out at my donor area during my strip procedure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!
  11. Need some advice about hiding my donor scar. My hair was 1 inch in length when I had my procedure done. When I get my stitches out in a few days, I'm afraid that the difference in length between where my donor supply was cut and my native hair is going to be drastic and very, very noticeable. Should I just allow it to grow and then get a haircut in a couple months? Or should I cut the sides using clippers? And if so, what number clipper would be the best? Thanks!
  12. Anyone actually have a scar revision procedure that didn't involve the FUE method? Was wondering how easy of a process it was and the success rate. Also, is the turnaround time fast? Any swelling, bleeding, or pain involved? Thanks.
