  1. Hi Hairtargerer, If you want an accurate assessment of your surgery then you really need to show more detailed pics showing the full extent of your surgery, not just a snapshot of an area which may not be the main focal point of your surgery.
  2. Hi Abixx, Looking real good there brother, very natural. I can feel your happiness radiating through my screen!
  3. Hi Logan, Firstly, I'm glad you are happy with your new look, it is a big difference and I'm sure you are thrilled. You still have a few months of growth left and it will take up to a year to 18 months for your hair to settle down into its natural state. You seem to have a good plan on what to do to further enhance your result. Thank you for sharing your results, enjoy!
  4. Surprisingly I still have a couple of spaces left on this September trip if anyone is interested. I understand Spex will be there in India for a few days too so not only will you have my esteemed company and support you will also be able to call on the man himself too. I will also be taking a few patients up to Dr Bhatti's villa in historic Kasauli, which is located in the foothills of the Himalayas boasting amazingly spectacular views with an air of tranquility, an ideal setting to relax post surgery. Just had a couple of fellow Brits stay there and they loved it. So get in touch if you think you could do with a friendly helping hand to assist you through your hair transplant journey. https://darlingbuds.com/medical-tourism
  5. An ethical surgeon will look at your current situation and plan for the long term. At 28, I would personally say you have at least 2 surgeries in you if you intend to keep your hair well into your latter years. There is always a small chance the transplant will fail, but you reduce that risks by going to a doctor and a team that is tried and trusted. Myself and thousands of other patients have been advised of surgery through sharing photos, again it is a proven method that works. Not everyone gets over the "hump", some will ponder for years, whereas some will take that leap, get their hair fixed and move on. Like most things in life, eventually a decision has to be made..............
  6. It is a type of Lichen Planus, I have known a couple of people have this autoimmune disease over the years and when it triggers it can be mild to brutal....even life threatening. This is why I mentioned visiting your GP, even if just to get the all clear. On another note, I would have thought it would have attacked other areas of your body first before attacking your hair follicles, but I'm no expert. I have a friend who develops small lesions on his skin when it is triggered. I know of another severe case where the person was hospitalized for some time as her immune system was severely tested.
  7. You have actually answered your own question here. I would be a bit skeptical about the regrowth though, once a hair graft has died, it will not miraculously come back to life. Sometimes the recovery of barely visible miniaturized hairs can be mistaken for regrowth.
  8. Dear all, I would like to share the following informative video with the community. At his Darling Buds Clinic in India, Dr Bhatti has been treating bad FUT scars for the past 15 years. Strip scars from the FUT technique after a bad hair transplant are managed by W-Plasty surgical revision and body hair transplant in some selected cases. Also scalp micro-pigmentation can play a great role in camouflaging a bad FUT strip scar.
  9. It would cost about £400 if you had it done private in the UK. Why don't you explain to your GP how your hair loss is affecting your general health as well as the failed second surgery and your dilemma in getting it fixed. If there is a genuine case for a scalp biopsy that will highlight a possible infection then your GP may refer you as matter of course through the NHS.
  10. Or you could just have the biopsy in the UK to approve or disprove the doctors theory.
  11. Kevin, As mentioned you could try Finasteride/Minox for 9 - 12 months and see where you end up. There are many cases where it has improved the look for diffused thinners. As for your hairline it does look like you will need a transplant to rebuild it but your photos aren't the best. Try posting some better ones with hair that's just been dried after washing. Also a few with your hair pulled back over your forehead to give a better overall pictures of the recession there.
  12. I think after having 3000-3500 grafts your hair will appear to be full to anyone at first glance, but as you are in no doubt aware the density will never match your original so in strong lighting/sun there is always some transparency in the scalp. You can counter this by keeping your hair at the optimal length of 1 to 1.5 inches to create the best fullest effect. Also your choice of style can play into this. Other options include using hair thickening shampoo/cream or you could have SMP done on the scalp to further enhance the denser look or a light sprinkling of fibers if need be. I personally think you'll be happy with another 3500 grafts grown out.
  13. My wife pointed it out to me years back in my rock star hair days coming back from a trip to the far East.............................................................................................................. I nearly had her sectioned!!!
  14. Hi Johanchicago, With the area to cover and the limited availability of grafts the expectation for anyone of your balding should be to appear not bald with the added option of creating an enhanced look through the use of fibres now that you have sufficient hairs for them to attach to. It is simply not possible that Dr Panine or any other surgeon could have covered that area more effectively with the limited number of grafts available. Also in similar cases as yours more than one procedure and possibly a course of SMP is recommended and I'm sure this would have been made clear to you as it is with all similar balding patients. Saying that, you are 6.5 months in and appear to be growing very well. You still have quite a few months of growth left so I think from what I can see there is much improvement to be still had. Try to be more positive, you are on your way to making a big aesthetic difference to where you started. Feel free to contact me personally if you need my support.
  15. Hi Russtaman, That's some very sincere words of support you've had there by Altonmeyer. Having read your story, I do feel for you but you should be confident in the fact that you still have available options. I agree that the SMP seems top notch. You could have scar revision but your scar doesn't appear to have stretched a great deal, it is what it is, an FUT scar. You maybe should have tried the shaved look prior to going down the HT route or your clinic maybe could have hinted this to you. You appear to have the ideal head shape to suit it, but everything is more clear with the benefit of hindsight. This should be a lesson to others too, try the shaved look first. After any HT surgery the shaved look may not be so easy to carry off due to a FUT linear scar or in some cases potentially visible FUE scarring. Moving on, I think you should have your next laser session and see what the result then looks like. It might disguise the scar to a state where no further action is required and you can move on with your new look. We are our worst critics and what you see in front of the mirror under your spotlights is not necessary the same picture a layperson sees on the street. If you are still not happy then you should consult local renowned plastic surgeons for their advice on revision surgery to determine whether it is indeed a worthy option. There are products on the market relatively cheap that you can try to hide the scar, one product does come to mind, Prosil, a silicone stick that is used to hide scars on the body. It may be worth a try. As for your hair itself, from what I can see your donor looks good to go for possibly 2500 - 3000 grafts and a further 500 can be harvested from the beard area under your chin. These potential 3500 grafts can be uses to reinforce your hairline, strengthen your mid scalp and add some coverage to your crown area. Once grown out, coupled with the SMP you have already completed, you should appear to have a full set of hair once again and the scar will be confined to history. I hope that clarifies a few things for you, I wish you all the best.
  16. Whether FUT or FUE is right for you is debatable, the best thing you can do is reach out to informed doctors and weigh up their responses. Doctors are experts in their fields and will have performed strong opinions over the years. This is probably why medical negligence cases are often decided on fine margins with experts on either sides making sound cases for their respective arguments. You will find HT doctors are of that same ilk. You could start by posting some pics of your scalp as this can be defining on which path to take. As for the Finasteride, the recommended dosage of Finasteride is 1mg per day. You could start on 1mg every other day and see how you feel and whether you have any adverse reactions to it. Give it a few weeks for your body to get used to it. If it doesn't feel right then you could halve the dosage and again repeat as above. If for any reason it still doesn't feel right then it's probably not for you. On the other hand if you feel OK as the vast majority of patients do, you could up the frequency to 1mg every day for 6 months and then switch to 1mg every other day. You should take photos of your scalp each month to monitor for any changes. Also you might notice less hairs falling out whilst washing. It usually takes approximately 3 months to kick in. Over time you could experiment with lower dosages or even stop altogether after weening yourself off for the odd month or 2 over a year, again monitoring for any changes. If at anytime you stop altogether then your hair loss will proceed at its natural pace. I hope that helps to clarify things for you.
  17. Hi Matt, 23 is still a young age for a transplant, your hairloss is yet to stabalise and any surgery at this stage will need to be carefully thought out to ensure that your long term goals are addressed. You have some history of hairloss in your family which as normal sometimes skips a generation or even a sibling, it is genetic potluck in some cases. But judging by your early balding I think you should assume that unfortunately you will follow the path of your father rather than grandfather. This can be disheartening but if you address the loss now at this early stage you can make a difference. You seem to have a good understanding already of what you need to do and what your expectations should be. The only thing I would say is that perhaps you should reconsider using Finasteride, even if at a lower dosage. In my opinion it is the most effective way for you to sustain your hair and slow down the balding process. So to conclude it is possible for you to have a conservative procedure to address your current loss but at the same time you should reconsider doing everything to help delay the need for your next procedure. You might also want to have a look at the patient below, he was a similar age to you, had a smallish procedure and nearly 3 years on hasn't looked back. He has been on a dose of Finasteride since his procedure.
  18. Hi Hairlineman, Going back to your donor, I too think it looks good to go and I can't see any reason why you shouldn't get 3000-3500 FUE grafts from it to reinforce your hairline and strengthen your mid scalp going back to your vertex. This will I believe make all the difference. I would also point out that you may have lost most of your native hair in this area and all that remains could be the transplanted hairs from your first procedure. If that's the case then Finasteride use won't really make a difference here. Also congratulations on your child, I hope that next round of IVF is equally successful.
  19. Dr Bhatti uses his own refined FUE technique which has proven successful in maximising graft survival. Therefore it is not necessary for him to use any other method. Results published online using traditional FUT and FUE techniques probably outnumber those of any other technique close to 100:1.
  20. I'll answer this one for Spex. Yes, it can, most patients opt for a years supply rather than the recommended 6 months. Dr Bhatti will issue you with a prescription for customs purposes but I'm yet to come across anyone who has been stopped and questioned. The same applies for Minoxidil. Generally the cost in India is less than half of that in the UK.
  21. Hi, welcome to the forum. 22. Fantastic result Sunny, you must be delighted.
  23. Yes Lenny, it does work out cheaper if the timings work out. I actually provide this info along with other advice and tips during the planning stage.
  24. I've PM'd you, just spoke to one of my Irish guys and he's cool with you contacting him.
  25. Hi Vinza, If you post some pics of your scalp you will get the best advice. It's always best to confront the hairline as a priority because that is the first impression folk get off you when you walk into a room. Depending on your available grafts at the back of your head it may be possible to confront both front and crown together. Even at 37 it's difficult to predict where your hairloss will eventually end up. Older male relatives may give you some clues and there are medications you can take (Finasteride & Minoxidil) to delay any future balding which will help delay/eliminate the need for a follow up procedure. Again, only pics will tell. Dr Erdogan is a highly rated surgeon, there are others worldwide recommended by this site, just follow the link below https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physician/hair-loss-doctors.asp
