  1. I have a friend who lives in New Jersey and wants a transplant. Is Dr. Wesley' office in NYC. If you don't mind me asking how much does he charge per graft. Thanks
  2. Have any of you friends heard of or tried PRP injections? While not FDA approved yet, it is a series of injections into the scalp that uses part of your own blood cells. It would be a great alternative to meds, minoxidil. I am curious about it. My research indicates a maintenance of twice yearly shots and is not surgery with no bad side effects. it's been used to heal sports injuries. Wouldn't it be a god send for us?
  3. Drl Glen Charles in Boca Raton, Fl. did my transplant 3 weeks ago and I am delighted so far! I am a 69 year old female with a receding and thinning hairline in the temple area. I had almost 1800 grafts. The procedure was so painless that I dozed off in the chair. I first met with Alexia who is the awesome coordinator, She rocks! Then the doctor examined me and we discussed what I would need and what to expect. We traveled from Cape Cod to have this fine doc. do the surgery and I am delighted. i am using the laser cap and the implants are growing well. No fall out yet as far as I can see. I think this dr. and his staff are professional and kind. I even got a call from the Dr. the night of the procedure to see how I was feeling. Wow!
  4. Hi Lacey thanks for your reply. I have considered using it but 20 years ago I was diagnosed with lobular carrcinoma insitu which isn't cancer put increases the risk of cancer (20% instead of 12% in the general population). I had preventative mastectomies at age 46. My gyn has offered it to me for vaginal dryness and it would take care of the hormone imbalance. I just had a hair transplant, use the laser cap and started rogaine. So I think I'll wait and see how things develop. I'm afraid I'll worry about taking estrogen instead of fretting about my hair!!! I'm guessing that you take estrogen? How old are you and are you using any other remedies?
  5. hello Harin i'm trying to make a conclusion based on the results of this trial. Is it that a small number of women get facial hair from taking saw palmetto? Was there any evidence of increased hair on the scalp? By the way your hair transplants look awesome. What do you use to keep it healthy?
  6. Thank you so much for your reply! I bought some of this herb today along with the 5% minoxidil. I'll let you know how things go in a few months. In the meantime I'll keep checking out this hair restoration web site.
  7. Has anyone tried saw palmetto to treat thinning hair? I am a woman of 69 years. Also, which oil is best to treat scalp dryness? I eat a very healthy diet, take vitamins and use the laser cap. I had a recent transplant. I have androgenic thinning in the front that is not terrible. I read that the above supplement blocks the production of DHT. I plan on asking My Dr. Glenn Charles about it but I wonder if others have experience with this herb. Thanks and be gentle with yourself. We are more than our hair....
  8. Thank you Brenton! I've decided to try to get 2 consults in Florida. Dr. Charles, in Boca and Dr. Rose in Miami. I am a bit nervous but I believe in being proactive in life and not resigning myself to something that I can control. Both of these Drs. come highly recommended. Julie
  9. Thank you Gillenator. I left a message on Dr. Rose and Dr Nusbaums answering machine. I hope to make an appointment for a consultationwhen I go to Floridain March
  10. Hi folks. I am new to this forum and I look forward to participating. I am a 68year old female with some thinning on the top and temple area. I has surgery with Dr. Leonard years ago but I feel there should have been more grafts. We live on Cape Cod but will be going back and forth to Florida. After researching on your forum I am going to try Dr. Rose and Nusbaum in Miami. Are they equally good? I will be sending pix to them. I hope the price isn't outrageous! I know you get what you pay for. Thank you all for this wonderful site. I can't really discuss this with friends because some of them would call me vain!
