  1. I have spent all morning watching Lorenzo's before and after results on YouTube - his work is one of the best in FUE. Anyway, I came across his FUE step-by-step procedure video and everything I have read from patients blogs on this forum about their experience was very similar if not exactly the same way Lorenzo carries out his procedure. Two things I noticed. He uses this measuring tool on the head, which I presume is to achieve an aesthetic goal of where to begin the new implanted hairline. I've never seen this before or read from other patients this kind of measuring tool being used and wondering if it's common place for other surgeons to use this to obtain a realistic hairline? Pic below. The other was the tool he used to implant the hair. Common procedure is to first create the incisions on the recipient site using a sharp scalpel/needle type of tool. This is where the grafts will be individually inserted into and it's done in two stages - first make the incisions, second insert the graft. Lorenzo uses a tool combining both in one go. The graft is attached to the needle so when the incision is made, the graft follows the incision and is placed inside. This seems to be much more efficient, whilst also keeping the graft in the same direction of the incision created. When I visited Lorenzo's website he has a page dedicated to the tool and calls it the 'implanter' and has listed many supposed benefits it provides see the link here implanter . Again pics below. The link to the video between 4:00 to 6:00 What are people's thoughts on this, especially the implanter tool compared to the conventional method of creating incisions first, and then after that inserting grafts inside them. Does it actually make a huge difference to results? Are there are other doctors who perform the same practice using the same/similar tools as Lorenzo?
  2. I thought I was the only one to have had such a high number of grafts proposed by Erdogan's clinic. They have quoted me double the grafts than every other clinic I have consulted with and those are some of the best and most popular clinics - Lorenzo, Konier, Bisanga, Bhatti and countless others recommended on this forum. I'm wondering now whether it's a rip off because I was on the verge of booking my surgery date with that clinic but now have some doubts. The fact that people immediately suspected it was ASMED makes me worried, although there results do speak for themselves so it's left me in a dilemma.
  3. Do you have any pre-op pictures to make comparison
  4. yes this is the real one Asmed Hair Transplant - Dr. Koray Erdogan
  5. Looking good for only 4 months post-op. From what everyone says the transformation starts between 6-10 month mark so all the best in the following months!
  6. Looks great and very clean. I know you've given your reasons and I'm currently doing my own research and looking into Turkey - what was your over riding reason to go with Erdogan as opposed to the numerous other clinics in Turkey, considering that the doctor doesn't perform much of the work himself? From what I understand he is also one of the most expensive in Turkey, though still cheap in exchange rate terms if you are from UK, USA, Aus, etc. You also said you would have preferred to stay in Turkey longer - how much longer would you advise, weighing in the cost of hotels, food, etc. because 2 weeks seems ideal. Thanks and hope you have a brilliant outcome.
  7. Based on your pre-op you've definitely made solid progress. I think if you want to make it into a 'fantastic' result you will most likely need to opt for another procedure, unless you continue to see some strong growth in the following months, though I'm sure the more experienced members will judge this better than me. There is some slight 'patchiness' between your existing native hairline and the transplanted hairs, and the crown can also use more grafts. However this is more from the top-down angle, from the side and face level it looks very good based on where you were before, and it also depends on your happiness. If you are satisfied with the result and day to day then let that be your best guide.
  8. Wow, great result compare to your original pre-op. Thanks for the update. Did you experience or were you informed about possible "shock loss" as the doctor transplanted over existing native hairs? I have similar type of thinning as your original pic, and have been told by one or two doc's when I made online consultation that I may not be a suitable candidate as they will be transplanting over existing hairs - but your case looks nothing of the sort. Also how is the donor region looking? Did the doctor advise how much capacity you have left for future HT if required?
  9. As per the title. I know Erdogan is highly sought after - but I also realise majority of the work is done by his techs. I know they are supposed to be highly experienced and he must oversee everything - but there is always a doubt in your head, what if you get a new tech or someone still learning their craft. The last thing you want to be is a learning curve for a technician, you want to be in experienced hands. Dr Yaman is also recommended on this forum but there are very few results posted by actual patients. Can you guys please recommend other doctors - whether it's through your research or if you're a patient.
  10. I'm not sure if thats a typo? You are 17 years old and have had the same hairline for 14 years - so since you were 3 years old?? Anyway, if you really are 17 then no good doctor will operate on you. You should wait until you're in your 20s before considering it, say when you're around 24, 25 years of age. In the meantime you may want to consider propecia to prevent further loss.
  11. Thanks again Shera - Dr Bhatti is definitely at the top of my pile. Having done more research, I really like what Dr Koray Erdogan is doing at ASMED. The only problem is I have completed their website online consultation form and did not hear anything back and 9 days had passed by. Someone on this forum suggested to e-mail them directly because they have english translators who only look at the consultations a few hours a day. I did yesterday so hopefully I get a response. I am slightly disappointed by ASMED that they didn't respond to my online consultation form that is on THEIR website. I'm not sure what other option I have if I don't get a response - all that fancy website and design and you don't even hear back from them. Are they any other doc's you guys would recommend in Turkey or India that specialize in FUE besides Bhatti and Erdogan?
  12. How did you contact Dr Erdogan? I have submitted an online consultation a week ago and also sent an e-mail to their asmed contact and heard nothing from them. Are they very selective in who they take on or just very slow in responding?
  13. Thanks for all the replies. I have a few questions that have come to mind since doing more research and instead of starting a new thread thought I'd pop them in here and hopefully someone will be kind enough to reply 1. in FUE the difference between motorized vs manual extraction. Which would you guys recommend is better and why. 2. Shock loss of existing hair after transplant - What is this, when does it occur, is it temporary/permanent? I am definitely going with FUE only as I prefer to style my back and sides short, usually a #3 or #2 guard. Heh, thanks. I've met the only two recommended hair loss clinics on this forum in the UK for consultations, and a third which isn't recommended but has done a few high profile transplants. One of them told me they won't operate on me because I have don't have significant hair loss and my age, which was a bit bizarre. Another I didn't like the surgeons dismissive answer to my questions and rush to get me out, as well as charging a hefty fee for a consultation. The third seemed like he knew what he was talking about, told me what was realistic, listened to my questions, but the price seemed quite steep for what I can get compared in India, Turkey - and likewise at that same price point I could probably go USA and get a top surgeon. But from the work I have seen, he seems the most logical if I stayed in the UK and probably the best. Good questions - density is one that no one has brought up before, neither from me nor the surgeons. Thanks. Another good point, I think that may be the reason why one of the UK clinics I visited told me they wouldn't operate on me because of my age. I look at the work of Dr Bhatti in India and several of those in Turkey and they do seem to operate more on younger patients. Thanks buddy, yes overall price does matter - to say it doesn't would be a lie. Travel wise - as I'm in UK i'm smack bang in the middle if I want to go USA, or go east and can closer to home in Europe or further away in Turkey, India. Thanks for your very detailed reply Shera, and I'm happy for your results with Dr Bhatti. Yes he is very prompt in his e-mail reply as I have been in communication with him, and his prices are very very reasonable when you take into account the GBP and Rupees exchange rate. One question mark I have though is whether his transplants look natural compared to the really top surgeons like Lorenzo, Bisanga, and those in USA like Diep who seems to be a master of natural hairlines. I am thinking I may just go to somewhere like India/Turkey for the crown as it hopefully won't matter as much, and then spend a bigger pot of money on the names I've just mentioned for the hairline. Would love to get your opinion on that.
  14. I can post pics but I am inclined not to do so at the moment - the reason being that I have sent pictures to a number of hair surgeons for consultations that also frequent these forums and in the interest of confidentiality would like to keep them private for now. But I will show some examples I've found on Google images. Once I have had my transplant I will definitely be sharing my experiences and results. I have thinning on the crown very similar to this http://www.thewestminsterpractice.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/27-th-feb-09-5-300x225.jpg I also have some hair loss at the front, which is similar to the before pictures on this (left-hand side) though mine probably isn't as bad. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/tBryR75_jT8/hqdefault.jpg I have been taking propecia since April and though my hair loss has stabilized I've not noticed any considerable re-growth. I am looking to have 1200 grafts at the crown/mid-scalp and about 800-1000 grafts for the hairline.
  15. Hi guys, I am just about to turn 30 and decided to go ahead with an FUE transplant in 2016. All I'm left with now is the huge task of decided which surgeon to go too and I'm hoping you can help me out here. There are so many threads of surgeons posting good results, and fellow posters show casing their successful transplants - that I can go from opening one thread to the next and think "wow what a great result, I should get a consultation with this surgeon" then I'll open another thread, and another, and I'll have 10 threads open thinking all the surgeons are great - but how do I decide which one would be best for me? I am lucky in that my work is flexible and I'll be able to book 4-5 weeks off post-surgery. It's also office based so I'm not worried about stares, etc. I am in the UK but have previously traveled to California, Dubai and India, so going abroad far and wide isn't an issue. The only thing that does limit me is the cost. I can stick with the UK and shell out 6000GBP but then again I also realize if I can get a similar result abroad for cheaper, or for the same price at a better quality, then why not? I can go to India and pay half that, or travel to USA and might pay the same price overall, but have a much better surgeon and outcome. I have enough saved to go with some of the more expensive surgeons, but it's the question of cost vs effectiveness vs risk. I wouldn't mind paying a lot if I was guaranteed a fantastic result, but as some of us will have seen, nothing is guaranteed even when the great surgeons. The doctors I like so far are Dr Bhatti (India), Dr Diep (California) and Dr. Koray Erdogan (Turkey). But then I've also read great things by Dr Bisanga (Belgium) and Dr Lorenzo (Spain). All of their prices vary slightly. If anyone can help me out here it would be much appreciated. If you can advise which surgeon you would recommend - even those not on my list - as well as what things I should consider to make my decision. I also want to say a big thanks to everyone who posts their results on this forum. Especially those that come back 12+ months post-op and have had great results.
  16. I have booked a skype consultation with Dr Diep so this is a little worrying. From the results I have seen he and his team really know how to perfect a natural hairline. What made you go with him - was it based purely on results like you said? End of the day, whilst it's great to have all the best aftercare in the world, I think everyone would choose a great result and average care over an average result and great care.
  17. Why don't you contact your clinic and ask? I can't really advise you but common sense you'd think they wouldn't be any reason to stop. Also that it's not listed on the pre-op instructions as you've mentioned.
  18. I have taken propecia before and got sides, I didn't like it and stopped within 2 months. So I've started looking at topical DHT blockers to use on the scalp and avoid any sides. However I was thinking if Minoxidil can cause side effects whilst applying to the scalp wouldn't the same apply to DHT blockers such as Azelaic Acid and MPG? They would also I presume enter the bloodstream and cause the same sides I had with propecia? Obviously AA and MPG aren't the same as propecia but the last thing I want to do have those same sides again. It took me a while to recover and thankfully my sex drive is back to normal, perhaps better than before because I cleaned my diet and exercise regularly. I know the only way to found out is try it out I suppose, but just wanted people's experiences, thoughts & opinion on this before I start splashing out the cash for these products.
  19. You can buy it online from well known pharmacies in the UK - just google it. But it will be quite pricy. Otherwise you can go to your GP and explain your hair loss, tell him you want propecia and get a prescription of him which might be cheaper. I'd recommend starting 1mg EOD, or even buying a pill splitter and go with 0.5mg EOD. The lower the dosage at the start the better. You want to reduce DHT, not totally kill it off.
  20. Definitely go with EOD. Or buy a pill splitter and go with 0.5mg EOD. Always start with the lowest dosage and go from there.
  21. DHT doesn't really affect your muscles. In fact you should build more muscle because you have more testosterone since less of it is being converted to DHT (the main hormone for your muscles is test). However, DHT does play a role in supporting your Central Nervous System so it's possible you may feel weaker and recovery takes longer. If you workout for yourself then I don't see it as much of an issue but DHT does have a lot of benefits to your body .... I guess the only negative is the hair loss!
