  1. Zuby, Dr. Feller shaves the area where the transplanted hair will go. He does that so he can best determine the direction of growth of your original hair. I believe this is to minimize transection and loss of the remaining hair. As to how you will look after surgery. The recipient area will be pink for a few weeks. I grew my hair out long to cover the area, and used toppik to conceal. I do not think that anyone noticed. I have fair skin. The pinkness will be less noticeable if you have darker skin.
  2. Below are some before and after pics after my surgery with Dr. Feller. See my previous post for a description of the experience.

  4. Woodtiger, Dr. Feller posts his prices on his web site. Prices have gone up slightly since my HT last April. I did consults with True, and Feinberg as well. Feller's prices were the lowest, and his work was the best in my opinion.
  5. Hi JWT444 Sorry, I have not visited this forum in a while. I'm about 8-1/2 months post-op now, and am quite happy with the results. I have a hairline once again. It's quite natural looking. My self esteem and confidence have improved dramatically. It's doesn't take forever to comb my "lack of hair" in the morning. And I don't get pissed off anymore when I get out of the showder and look in the mirror. Thanks Dr. Feller. There is still some very slight discomfort in the donor area which I can only detect if I feel around for it with my fingers. I expect that this will be gone soon, as it has almost disappeared in the last couple months. The only scar that I have is a very this line in the donor area. It is completely undetectable. I guess my hair is about an inch long back there. I kept it about 2 inches for about 4 months after the surgery. After that, the hair that was trimmed in the donor area grew back sufficiently. I am still using 2% roagain in the recipient area as advised by Dr. Feller. I will continue this for another 3.5 months then stop. I take no other meds. Prior to my surgery, I stopped using 5% rogain in the crown area. That area has thinned out quite a bit more, but it would have happened eventually anyway, as it was pretty thin already. The plus side is my pillows and sheets don't get stained anymore. My wife is happy about that. Although the improvement was dramatic, I was a NW7 prior to the surgery, so there was no way that 2247 grafts would do the whole job. I am still quite bald in the crown, so I will likely go back for another session. I will post the before and after pictures soon. We are getting a digital camera for christmas. I will try to check the site more often if anyone has any questions
  6. I am 8 weeks out after 2247 FU's with Dr. Feller. My whole experience was a positive one. Dr. Feller and his staff were excellent. He uses the lateral slit technique like many of the top docs. I would recommend him highly.
  7. I am 16 days post-op with Dr. Feller. Everything seems to have gone well. The whole procedure was virtually painless other than Some minor discomfort from the needles used to numb the donor and recipient area. Dr Feller and his staff were excellent, and were very helpful in calming my nerves. I was much more nervous the night before. I am (was) a NW 6 on my way to a seven. Dr Feller placed 2247 grafts in the front third portion of my head using lateral slits. This was strip surgery. Dr Feller made all the slits. He uses custom blades that are sized to the size of the graft. His technicians (nurses?) inserted most of the grafts. There were always 2 of them working on me at all times. I got into the office at 7:45am, and was out by around 2:00pm. The week following surgery I had some trouble sleeping due to some discomfort in the donor area (I'm a light sleeper anyway). Scabs all came off after about 6 to 7 days. Lost a fews hairs with the scabs (I know this is normal, and there was no blood). I don't seem to have lost any hairs since. At 16 days I'm already becomming impatient, but I'm sure everyone goes throught this. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones who keeps most of the original hairs. They are about 3/8 inches long now. I am using 2% rogaine in the graft area once per day. As I said, we only did the front third portion to restore the hairline, and make me happy to look in the mirror again. But I can see myself getting greedy for more down the road. I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this site. You helped me make a very difficult decision, and to pick the right doctor. Thanks again to Dr. Feller and his staff. I am sure that I will thanking them more in the months to come. I will post pics soon.
