Your Hair Loss Story
I noticed I was losing hair at around 24 when I saw a video of myself and noticed the pattern. The hair had become less able to block light, and becuase my brother is basically a norwood 7 I knew I was in trouble. Continued to have receding hair line, and then researched hair loss treatments in medical school. At about 28 started taking propecia and using rogaine, which helped immensely in stopping progression as well as even regrowing some hair. I had lost enough already that I could not grow my hair out. I mostly had been shaving my head since a child as it was easiest and I have a head that suits this look. At 33 after struggling with my inability to grow my hair out I started researching and decided on an FUT, as the success of FUE seemed to be still in question. I was a poor resident physician and ended up going with a poorly known "chop shop" operation that only charged me 1.5$ per graft, and had 1600 grafts. I was left with a large FUT scar and still could not grow my hair out without it looking like a bad combover, and now I could not shave my head any longer due to the large scar in the back of my head. I had another scar in the back of my head from having cancer in my skull as a child and together the back of my head does not look good. Now I am at the point of getting a consultation with a respected physician to correct the initial FUT.
