  1. Hi Guys, After interviewing all of NYC's recommended doctors (Bernstein, T/D, Feller) I've decided on going ahead with the procedure with Dr. Wesley. I felt most comfortable with him. He said that his technique is so precise that I shouldn't expect any shock loss. T/D said I would expect considerable shock loss. Wesley also spent the most time with me and showed me multiple before and after pictures of patients with similar cases to me. He thinks I will have between 23-2500 done. Quick question- How long do the sores/scabs usually last? I have long hair which might cover a bit, but how long before i can go out in public and not be totally noticable? Here's what it will look like:
  2. Thanks! Yea, I'm excited. How long do you think the red marks/scabs will last in the front of my head? He said 8-10 days but wondering if anyone has had other experiences.

  4. Thanks for everyone's advise guys. I met with all the doctors and have made a choice. The doctor is recommending doing 2200-2500(max) I said why not more, just out of curiosity, and he said that doing a mass transplant will actually cause me to lose or destroy some of the natural hairs I still have. So, he said start with this, and if a year later I want more done that can easily be done. Perfect, honest advise. He knew he could have convinced me to do much more, which would mean more $ for him, but he actually cared about the results which I greatly appreciated. I also met with him for almost an hour. I am now confident to move forward.
  5. ChrisDav, thank you so much for the realistic advise. I cannot tell you how many people on these forums have called me an idiot for only doing a couple months of research instead of years. The fact is also that I cannot leave NYC so I am limited but all the above mentioned have great reputations so I can't imagine it can go too wrong. I think a lot of people on here are still upset from prior transplants done poorly by subpar surgeons, so they are understandably cautious,.
  6. Hey So Fetch, God I have the same questions as you, I've been told T/D (Who I am seeing today) as well as Wesley and Deller. I've already seen Bernstein. Judging from this site and comments, apparently nobody has ever had a good experience with anyone and I need to do "Years" more research. So frustrating.
  7. Thank you Go For it for the practical and thoughtful advise. I really appreciated it.
  8. God now i don't know whether a transplant is worth it after all the horror stories
  9. I have done as much research as humanly possible on all of these guys (Feller, Bernstein, Wesley, True/Dorin). I have read every possible review and looked at every single before and after photo on all of these forums and I haven't read anything bad. I guess I am naive but I don't understand how they can all have such good reputations and be so prolific if they are scarring people and producing poor results... I really like the hairline work that Feller produces and am seeing him next week. Same with True/Dorin. Is posting bad reviews or nightmare experiences not allowed on these sites or something?

  11. I chose not to commit. I'm also seeing Feller, Wesley and T/D. I actually like the results on Bernsteins website. I'm choosing to do FUT because i keep my hair somewhat long, and even Wesley, who says patients don't have to shave their heads, says the hair has to be below 2mm.
  12. Hey guys, I am in really desperate need of advice/experience. I saw Dr. Bernstein today who I liked. He said that he would do 2200 grafts which would make the hairline I still have more dense. He said that he's not going to try and extend the hairline so it's no longer receding because it doesn't look natural. Just round it out and thicken it. I'm on Avodart and have managed to keep my hair loss upfront pretty steady over the last few years. I apparently have a donor density of 2.3 which he said was good- no idea what that means. He wouldn't touch the crown, just to about my mid scalp as he said I am holding up ok back there. I'm 31 and having been slowly losing my hair since 20 years old. I just feel like my hairline is getting to the point where it's now or never. I suggested FUE, but he said that with my long hair it would be better to do FUT. The last thing I want to do is have to shave any part of my head in preparation. Apparently he said he invented FUT. Thoughts?? He has an opening to do the procedure next week and I need to confirm tomorrow.
  13. Also, I heard Dr. Wesley performs some sort of new procedure?
  14. Awesome Dutch thank you. 2.5k sounds about right. Definitely FUE?
  15. Hey, I am meeting with Dr. Wesley, Berstein, Feller and True/Dorin over the next week. I've shared pictures before. I am 31 and have been slowly losing my hair for 10 years, mostly a receding hairline. I've been taking avodart for years. My crown is pretty solid as of now. I have thick hair in back I've been told by a hair doctor so have good donor area. I've been told before that I could use 2k grafs, mostly all up front to give me a better hairline. I just want the best/most natural look possible and am willing to pay for it. 1) Do you think I would be better with FUE or FUT? 2) Of those doctors who do you think could best help my situation? I know that some specialize in big/large procedures. Thanks so much my friends!
  16. Hi, I'm Derek and am new here. I'm 31 years old and have been losing my hair slowly since I was 19. I have been on Propecia and have been on Avodart for the past few years. For the most part it has worked. I am not balding on my crown that bad, but my hairline keeps on receding ever so slowly and it's gotten to the point where I need to do something about it. Luckily I have pretty long hair so I am able to somewhat hide the fact that it is receding. Who is the absolute best person to go to for transplant work in New York? I have been told I have terrific donor areas and would only need my hairline filled in and a bit on crown. Dr. David Orentreich has been my family dermatologist for years, and has kept me with a good amount of hair, but I can't find many reviews on him. I know his father Norman created the hair transplant, but is he good? I have been doing research and it also sounds like Carlos Wesley is very good as is Dr. Bernstein . I feel like Berstein might just have the best advertising though! There is also Dr. Feller.. Can anyone lead me to the absolute best? Luckily, I make a good enough living that I am willing to pay to have the best results. I've attached some pics of my "situation" Any advise would be so so appreciated.
