  1. My surgeon said that beard hair is courser and therefore the best type of hair to use scars. I don't think many surgeons use beard hair because if it goes wrong it can result in scarring close to the face. Therefore if you want this type of surgery you would need to be very selective who you go with. I'm lucky again that my beard scars are very negligible, i don't notice them at all.
  2. Good luck. Just make sure you are very selective in who you go with for any procedures you may decide on. I chose a great surgeon & a great SMP tech. With lesser people i think its safe to say my results wouldn't be as good or could have made things even worse (as is possible in this industry).
  3. No sorry - those pic's are all I have. I had the SMP done at SMP Adelaide, http://smpadelaide.com.au/. Caitlin James. She took photo's along the way, not sure if she has any on her website.
  4. I have to admit, I was amazed myself last night after I had shaved it down to a zero. I didn't expect it to look this good. I had the FUE done in late June this year, it did improve it significantly. My surgeon gave me no guarantee's, he said scars can yield 20% to 90% and are unpredictable. I had the SMP done over three sessions from Mid October to Mid November.
  5. Not sure of the dimensions but it was a nasty scar. The FUE beard improved it significantly & SMP has finished it off. IMHO you need both, the SMP wouldn't look as good with no hair in there.
  6. Hey Noob. It can be done mate - I did exactly that yesterday. Combining FUE and SMP is the way to go - I had 500 beard hair into the strip scar & tidied it up even more with SMP. Fantastic result, I posted photos on my thread. Good luck.
  7. Thanks Chris. I think its the best possible outcome for me at this time. I still have too much hair in the front to risk chasing shock loss with any more HT's but it does look full when buzzed. Having the scar repaired has enabled me to do this. It was either going to be scar repair & buzz or wear a wig - the gaps from shock loss were driving me nuts.
  8. Bit the bullet tonight & clipped down to a number zero! I have enough hair to give a great buzzed look from the front & the work I have had done on the strip scar has proven amazing. I have 500 FUE beard hair into the strip scar & also some SMP. At a number zero it is almost undetectable, just the faintest of lines and it was a nasty scar.
  9. Actually if Dr Tsuji's team is successful & the chances look very good it will be the end of the problem surrounding limited donor hair. Japan's regulations mean that treatment will occur there years before it can in the West. The technique will also require implantation to be done by a surgeon or tech's so I wonder if Japan have great surgeons or if some from the West would be interested in relocating? Here is a link to probably the most encouraging hair loss treatment interview ever. https://www.hairlosstalk.com/news/new-research/hair-primordiums-tsuji-organ-interview-sept2016/
  10. Is it possible to get adhesive free wigs that look good? I have read some come with an elastic strap?
  11. Obviously good to see that Sheisedo is progressing with Phase 2 in Japan but to get this treatment approved in the West it is going to need a successful Phase 3 and submission to the FDA. Seriously, if this product was that good wouldn't Replicel be progressing with their own trials to fast track this? The latest excuse is a lack of funds but if the product was that good I just can't see any issues with a lack of funds. There is a huge financial prize at the end for a successful treatment. Thoughts?
  12. I think it could possibly work well. I had FUE into a strip scar & also added SMP. That has worked as well as I possibly could have hoped.
  13. I think that is a very sensible post Gillenator. I would also encourage Peapoddy to read my thread as an example of what can possibly go wrong. I personally believe now that when a transplant looks good, leave it. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/180455-shock-loss-warning-against-frequent-procedures.html
  14. This link is worth a read. KYOCERA, RIKEN and Organ Technologies Launch Joint Research in Regenerative Medicine to Treat Hair Loss; Organ regeneration technology shows promise for regenerating hair follicles | News Releases | KYOCERA Dr Tsuji in Japan seems to be the frontrunner.
  15. Sam, before you do anything try a buzz cut with a number 1 guard. You have nothing to lose & I think you might really like it.
  16. End of the day though.....its Peapoddys head & he has to make his own decisions.
  17. I respect you on this forum HTsoon but cant agree with you on this. Risks outweigh any possible rewards imho. Id be very interested in Gillenators thoughts, will ask him for his thoughts.
  18. Peapoddy, any chance you have confided to a friend or somebody that you had work done & word has got out? I have been open with my procedures, ie my friends & people know - but if you were more secretive & people heard through the grapevine that may be why they are looking?
  19. Well Dutchie & HTsoon, you are definitely seeing something I cant see. To me he looks great.
  20. Bill, there are definitely instances where a person who has undergone HT's may still be better off shaving down in the end. For some, the outcome of surgery has not worked out as well as hoped. Others may be caught up in the game of chasing shock loss all over there heads & after multiple procedures and heartache just want to put the nightmare behind them. Where transplants have succeeded in restoring a nice hairline, shaving down can give the appearance of a desired buzz cut - perhaps akin to a SMP result minus the ink. It is definitely an option and I have seen & experienced firsthand that a buzzcut after a HT can be much better than anticipated.
  21. I think you should take the plunge & try shaving Sam. I think you might be pleasantly surprised. Good luck.
  22. Its good that you are conscious of hair loss at your age. I think the first two responses you had were a bit too alarming but that said, a regime of FIN & Rogaine at your age could in all likelihood result in you maintaining a great head of hair. Try and consult with an understanding GP & you really should have nothing to worry about.
  23. Scalp MicroPigmentation Adelaide: Home Caitlin. She is good. Think she consults in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane
  24. I have a strip scar & have used a combination of FUE (beard) into the scar & recently SMP. I sometimes shave down to a number 1 clipper & now completely content with the appearance of my strip scar. My friends & family that know it is there tell me it is virtually undetectable.
  25. Id recommend Caitlin from Scalp Micropigmentation Adelaide/Melbourne. At least book a consult with her. Good luck.
