  1. Nice!. I wonder if the other docs meant 10,000 hairs i.e about 3-4k grafts. Either way the more i look around the more i see and hear of cases looking pretty good with less. You always have to watch for docs that only like the super big cases. Its almost like an internal cut off or minimum quota. Honest docs are the best, so what if you do less and its a little thin, you can always do more later. Why not take baby steps, probably end up great like you, and if not, just do more. But of course some people like to take the plunge all out and I understand that also. Time and budget probably play a role.
  2. Very interesting to hear the feedback. It is always amazing to see how varied opinions can be about different docs. This brings up an interesting observation I made. I was checking reviews on docs and noticed a few things I am not clear as to how it happens. Some doctors have almost zero mention on the boards i.e Dr. Bishara, Dr. Rivera, among others....how do they manage to stay off the boards in any way? I have seen doctors get negative reviews, then a few days or months later the review is taken down or 100% reversed.....are they giving full refunds to get this to happen? What is going on, I know I am not going crazy
  3. Texas has many good doctors. Dr. Limmer(s) for example is world famous and does not charge much at all. To bad the practice is in transition. So you bring up a great point, you can have good doctors charging a lot and good doctors charging a little. i think, t is always good to talk at least 2 doc. Good luck with the swelling as it can really be a lot sometimes. Good thing it doesnt last forvr
  4. Do you know if it was 3000 hairs or 3000 grafts?
  5. Does anyone know of ideas on how to help recovery shock loss faster?
  6. What I have learned over time is the internet, including this site and my posts of course, are all very subjective. It is interesting to read. I think in houston NEVER go with the first person you talk to unless you talk to THREE people. Dr. Barrera should be on that list. But you can make your own list. Bosley has a bad rep here(because you really dont know what doc your going to get) but if you can talk to dr feldmen in Houston himself it is a good idea, but not the reps. Also, watch out for any doctor that talks down or bad about other doctors. I see it as a sign of un professional behavior and desperation possibly. What about multiple offices but one doc? I am not sure but i wonder why a busy doc would have several sites unless they are not busy in one. Again, just an opinion but things to consider. This site is helpful but it does simply select for the most vocal patients rather then anything else. With that said, it is important you get several opinions if you can from the actual doctors(again not the sales reps). If you want to get technical, you can google the texas medical board, look up the doc and see what his ACTUAL specialty is. Most have multiple so you want the combination that fits the best. Make a list and talk to the docs. As they mentioned above, do not go just by the opinions of one or 2 posts, use the list, make your own list. be as objective as possible.
  7. Dr. Limmer and Dr. Barrera r also good among them. I wouldnt worry about price. Price is determined by so many factors from simple greed to overhead to whatever reason. Some docs travel multiple locations(guess who pays for the travel), some docs dont want to do more then a few cases a week, and so forth. Check out Dr. Barrera's online reviews. This site is good but you also dont know for sure who is a patient of whom, anyone could be posting about anyone. When you have a concern i.e price or results or whatever, the most mature thing is to discuss it directly with the doctor.
  8. Yeah it all feels and looks weird for the first week or so. a good place gives you pages and pages of what to expect and what to do in after procedure paperwork. also, the consent should be very detailed often 2+ pages. usually those things are spot on. in reviewing this board, it seems like the people that do the most homework and read the details are often the happiest, while others dont pay attention to detail then are surprised by things like swelling. sounds like you are well educated and well read so that is a big plus. you should do great.
  9. It is rare to see small cases like 700 grafts unless it is a doctor that does mainly FUE. Houston has some very good hair transplant doctors and one that does only FUE. You should look at the website for the pictures and sometimes the clinics have more pictures on site. For FUE, just make sure you go to a place that does a lot of FUE. One good sign would be if they dont do manual FUE i.e if they use some of the machines and also a big thing is if they outsource staff is used. Ideally you want a place that does nto have to get outside help.
  10. Any one know a good place for SMP in Houston? Can you post photos?
  11. Also if you prefer FUE in Houston, dr rashid at mosaic does only FUE.
  12. hi how do i delete a thread i started? or can you delete it for me please?

  13. how do i delete a thread or can one of the moderateors delete it for me, its the thread i started. thanks

  14. thanks all i think i have the clarification i need based on these answers. do i have a way to delete the thread now?
  15. Ok Thank you all, I just wanted to know since I am thinking of another procedure. The list of actions by the Florida board are confusing as is the status of the license. I will try to talk to Dr C himself about this and the so called probation.
  16. ive heard of a lot of fin mood issues. maybe that was hormones causing the mood change. never thought of it that way
  17. I never realized FUE was so international. For some reason I thought it was mainly a US thing. Goes to show you what happens when you dont do your research. Is a thread around or website that shows what FUE prices are like by country? Just an average?
  18. This seems like an overreaction. Leo makes a very good point.
  19. When I search Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine and put in verify license, it says his licence is on probation. Please correct me if I am wrong or reading it wrong. Also, when I look into it further, it looks like(and I may be wrong) that he has 4 board actions against him.The most recent was April 2013. It seems like a lot of issues going on. I looked up some other HT docs in Florida and they didnt have anything. Again, please clarify if I am mis understanding Also, I do not doubt he is a nice guy and very helpful. I am not judging his personality. I also have seen the results so a big plus for him. I am trying to understand the information listed by the medical board. I am sure he is a great person when you interact with him. This is not an attack, just trying to get others to look at the info and explain it to me in simple language. This is not an attempt to spread false information and if the board posting from April 2013 is something really silly, just let me know. It is a lot of legal wording. I see a series of actions.
  20. I learned about this letter of reprimand. I am curious what peoples thoughts are on this. Is it something serious? Any doctors/officials or others with input? Did Dr. Glenn Charles do something serious? If you want to see the letter to give a better opinion just google "glenn charles letter of reprimand." Very curious to know. How big an authority is the medical board of a state? UPDATED EDIT - this is regarding the April 2013 , not the old issue with the license. - see more below on what I mean. please educate me.
  21. I recently got a google alert on Dr. Charles, anyone who wants to look it up can just google "glenn charles florida letter of reprimand" and its the first thing that pops up
  22. Dr. Arocha has prices that go up and down a lot so you have to catch him at the right time ). Dr. Barrera is more fixed on his price but he is also very good. Dr. B's background is in plastic surgery and not internal medicine. I tend to lean towards the plastic/dermatology background
