  1. I'm wondering if one provides more lifetime grafts than the other, and if so - by how much? Or do both have the capacity for yielding the average of 6,000 - 8,000 grafts, regardless of which procedure the patient chooses? Also, is there any logic in the theory of been "stripped" out through FUT and then getting a little bit more through FUE - would this be the best case scenario for receiving as many grafts as possible. Or again, does it make little difference, and one is still limited to 6-8000 grafts. Thank you
  2. I am wondering if anybody could provide personal opinions or experiences of this doctor? Does he still come recommended on this website, and if so why? Thank you.
  3. Thanks for the reply guys. I actually am currently thinking of two doctors, one who does FUE - Dr. Bhatti, and the other does FUT - Dr. Madhu. Anybody any experience of these two, because I'm still not quiet sure which one to choose.
  4. I'm just wondering if anybody knows what benefits FUT has over FUE apart from the cost? For instance, is FUT pretty much for when you are unable to afford to get FUE done, or is there a reason doctors provide the FUT option? Also is the scarring from FUT really as horrific as many have suggest, e.g. you can't really shave your head, the follicle flow is distorted were the scar tissue rests etc.
  5. I'm just wondering if anybody knows if there are actual trials going on regarding Dutasteride's usage for MPB? I am not too sure, but I think that I heard before somewhere that it could be, but I'm not too sure if my memory serves me correctly. It would certainly be an interesting development given how much DHT it blocks in comparison to even Finasteride.
  6. Hi, and thanks for the response. Price isn't a factor here given the affordability of Proscar where I am. However, all I want to know is if 5mg Proscar daily, everyday, permanently is ok and safe? I realise that you can split the pills, and that 5mg only has slightly more benefit, but tbh I'd prefer just to take the whole pill, knowing everything is intact than split it. However, if it is not safe, then it would be an entirely different matter.
  7. Apologies for bumping an old thread, but have I read this correctly out of curiosity, you can get 6,000-8,000 grafts from FUT, and yet still get more grafts from FUE? If so, are they from the scalp and how many hundreds/ thousands of grafts would be available after using up all strip grafts? I always assumed that you simply limited to this amount of grafts, regardless of whether you do FUT or FUE (or both), and that the the scalp was limited to this amount of grafts with any extra amount having to come from the body, e.g. from the beard area below the chin.
  8. I'm just wondering if it is true that SMP is good for giving the appearance of extra density after a hair transplant? Also, (a) How long would you have to wait after a HT to get this done? (b) Would you have to shave your head for SMP, or can it be done without cutting your hair? © Would it be a bad idea if you are considering a second HT in 1-2 years time, and if so, why? (d) Would a HT surgeon be able to recognise the tattoed areas while operating or would they be indistinguishable from the other follicles which are naturally hair follices?
  9. I'm wondering if anybody here is taking Proscar 5mg daily for hair loss? I ask because I am considering this. Reason been that a box of Proscar 5mg in my local pharmacy on prescription is literally six times less expensive than a box of Propecia 1mg. However, I also do not want to go down the whole quartering the Proscar tablet route as I feel this is risking it's effectiveness as well as exposing the inside to outside elements etc. So the cost of Proscar is not a concern for me and I can easily afford a permanent 5mg Proscar daily routine. However, I'm just curious as to whether this is safe, is anybody doing this and is it working out for you? Also any reports on the side effects/ safety etc. of doing something like this would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Would anybody be able to help me with this one? Thanks
  11. Am I over-reacting here for finding this product, the name in particular to be patronising toward hair loss sufferers? Also, do they have a "genius" team to assist with any problems for this product?
  12. Just wondering if anybody has gone through this situation, noticing advanced hair loss too late, e.g. NW2+, and then regretting not acting earlier. I certainly regret it, didn't really start to notice anything major up until a year ago, then again I didn't know anything about hairlines, the Norwood scale etc. But even for the past year when I've noticed that I have gone very far, I couldn't afford a hair transplant up until relatively recently. I really regret that unlike some of the smart blokes on forums like this who begin to notice things, even as low as NW2 and are not only preventing future loss, but only need to undergo minor transplants, as well as the possibility of been a NW1 in some cases. Even though a HT will do something descent for me, I will never be a NW1, or have a natural, thick appearance again in my life. Better late than never I guess, but still, I am regretting that I didn't detect things much, much earlier.
  13. I have one picture at the moment, not very good though (it's from a fairly old mobile phone), unfortunately my webcam is not working properly right now. I know for instance that I need at least 4,000 grafts with 66%-75% of grafts at the hairline/ mid scalp area, and the rest at the crown.
  14. I am just wondering if anybody could give there opinion as to which of these two procedures would be best for a NW4 male in his twenties - FUE or FUT? I have had FUT recommended given my extensive loss, but I am not 100% sure, particulary surrounding the issue of scarring etc. However, I have also heard that (a) FUT provides a much better coverage, particularly on somebody this advanced on the Norwood scale, (b) that FUT is less intrusive in the donor area allowing for better healing etc. However, I am still unsure as to which of these two procedures would be best for my first hair transplant. Two other factors that I know now after a consultation with a hair transplant clinic, is that (a) I am indeed a good candidate for hair transplantation, so I know that much, (b) and that I have "coarse hair". I am not sure if the latter matters, but I will mention it just in case, particularly surrounding the issue of coverage and potential donor density.
  15. Just wondering if anybody knows anything about this crowd. (Link removed by moderator) And if so, would you recommend them? Or if you don't know of them, would you recommend going to a clinic like this, or would it be taking a huge gamble and risk as opposed to going to say Dr. Bhatti in India or Dr. Demirsoy in Turkey?
  16. Simple question concerning grafts. I've been reading that the number of grafts the average person has ranges from 4,000 (low) to 6,000 (average) and 7,000+ (high)............I think I have it right there. I'm just wondering if those 4,000-7,000 grafts are what we are limited to over a lifetime? And if not, (a) how many grafts can re-grow (b) how long do they take to regrow? Also, © Also with procedures with histogen etc. will graft count become irrelevant (even if down to only a few hundred grafts)...........or will graft count still be important and necessary for any future treatments such as histogen?
  17. I just have a few questions about body hair transplants, any help would be greatly appreciated. (a) How many grafts can be gotten from body hair on other areas of the body? (b) Would body hair grafts be unlimited, or limited to something like 4,000-7000 grafts like in the scalp? © Do body hairs ever look out of place with the hairs on the head?
  18. Would any of these doctors/ surgeons be anywhere near as good as other inexpensive one's such as Dr. Bhatti?
  19. Thank you for your replies. I was wondering if it would be possible to tell how many grafts I would have overall, and whether it would be a low, average or high account - or would that be impossible to do online?
  20. I am just wondering if somebody could give a rough estimate as to how many grafts I may need in order to achieve a full look after a transplant? I reckon, that I am a Norwood 3-4, so I was thinking 3000-4000 grafts perhaps?
  21. Dear SorenM, could you provide an update of your situation as I am interested in visiting this clinic in the near future. Thank you for your help.
  22. Hello, I'm wondering if anybody could provide a review of the following two clinics in Turkey based on first or second hand experience? (a) Memorial Hospital, Antalya (link removed by moderator) The surgeon who would be doing the transplant would be Dr. Birgul Sevim (b) Estepera Hair Transplantation Center (link removed by moderator) The first one charges €3,100 for up to 4,000 grafts, while the second one can charge from €1,700-2000 for the same amount. I'm more inclined to put my faith into Memorial Hospital given the low prices listed for Estepera, and also the fact that I cannot find any descent website, peer review etc. for them. Is this a valid concern? Also, if anybody has had a transplant at Memorial Hospital, could you please provide a review? Thank you
