  1. Yeah I have decent coverage just now but most other young lads my age (24) have thick, full heads of hair which is kinda annoying! Well I have a consultation with HIS in their new Glasgow clinic in the new year but I don't have the money to actually do it yet so have to wait and save a bit.
  2. Thanks for your response. Yeah I wasn't planning on changing my hairline too much as people would notice this. I would be happy just thickening up the hair I have a little and if I had to I would have no problem just shaving it right down. Trial and error I could see how it looks with a bit of length and if doesn't look right simply just shave it off!
  3. Blurred my photos as I prefer the privacy (very self conscious) Do you reckon I have still got enough hair on top to keep it a reasonable length with SMP? Say a 1 which is what I get just now. There is a guy called AJ on the HIS hair clinic website which looks pretty good with his hair grown out really long and it looks fine. As for clinics is the HIS hair clinic any good? Seems to have a good reputation from what I have read.
  4. That's me at about the 2 and a half month mark on minoxidil now and this is where I'm at. First pic of the temple looks to maybe be getting a bid thicker but not much? As for the crown it is as bald as ever if not worse. I did use a flash for the crown photo so it would be a bit clearer. However it still gives a general idea of the situation which is quite bad.
  5. Early for shed or early to be seeing the initial signs of regrowth? Also is it possible that because my hair is so short I'm not noticing any shed? Yes I intend to keep this thread updated on my journey.
  6. As the title says I have been on minox for a month now with no signs of a shed yet. Before I started minox I did think my hair was starting to stabilise as I was seeing less hairs in the shower etc. However I have recently shaved my head to a 2 all over, is it likely that because the hair is buzzed I am not seeing the shed as much? Also to me it looks as if my temples are beginning to have little hairs appearing, is this possible after only 1 month of minox? (see pic)
  7. Had a consultation with a local HT doc around a week a go. He basically says what i thought he would when I walked in to his office. 'Too young for transplants' which I agree with. He really was pushing me to get on finasteride as well as minoxidil but I'm still unsure of that drug. The other thing mentioned was the SMP procedure which is an option I am seriously considering. The price this clinic offered was ?1500, is this reasonable?
  8. So basically as long as you have hair in the area you can have it shaved to a 2? I was just thinking about getting SMP to cover thinning areas on my head. I would be keeping my receded hairline.
  9. I currently shave my head all over to about a 1 or a 2 is that too long for SMP to look right or does it have to be a 0?
  10. As I said previous I'm scared of propecia due to the side effects and me only being 23.
  11. Thanks for the advice mate! I will start back on refaine tomorrow and try to stick at it! Do you think my hair will thicken up quite good with it?
  12. Should I give Regaine another shot? Is my hair loss too far on for it to have any effect? I'm just scared it will make my hair shed faster as that is all it seemed to do the last time!
  13. To me it is very unusual to have my level of hair loss at 23. I will turn 24 in a couple of months but still. I used minox for about 4 months and the shedding scared me off it. Should I try again on the minox and stick with it? Does it really work well? The side effects of finasteride scared me away from that drug completely (especially at my young age). My mums dad is a NW7 however my dads side of the family have thick full heads, quite embarrassing that my dad in his late 50s has a better head of hair than me!! But you get the gene from your mums side right?? I have just recently started shaving my head as it does look awful otherwise in regards to the thinning and if I'm honest I do suit it to a certain degree but would obviously prefer hair.
  14. Yeah I tried the meds for a while but to me all they did was speed up the balding process IMO. Of course predicting the course of your hair loss is a key factor in deciding when to go for a hair transplant that's why I am going to consult this doctor. It is not my intention to jump in and get it done, just going to get a doctors opinion. Thanks for your reply mate.
