  1. Sciencehair, that's good to hear. Thanks for the reassurance. I'll try to track down the other thread.
  2. Hi trapped, thanks for sharing your experience. It's interesting to read that your transplanted hair still looks good. This would imply that hair transplants are theoretically long-term solutions for certain people. I have been wondering about this since I read it suggested (perhaps erroneously) elsewhere that there are few people who have had long-lasting beneficial effects of an ht. I think it would be very useful if the veterans on this forum could please confirm or discredit this statement by telling us the long-term effects of their HTs. Apologies if this subject has already been covered ( I couldn't find it in the archives)
  3. Great write-up, Simon. Dr Hakan's on my short-list. I'll be willing every last of your follicles into fruition over the next months.
  4. Thanks for sharing. Your pre-op situation is similar to mine and I too am considering Dr Koray. Best wishes for a happy growing season!
  5. see forum on Bellicapelli and choose either "cartelle cliniche" to see the photos, or "esperienze dei pazienti" to see photos with dicussion
  6. Actually, I've been hanging out a lot on the Italian forums as I lived in the country for a long time. I've now located exactly what I was looking for: forum member experiences with Dr Koray (loads of them!) Unfortunately, although there are some good results, there are also a lot that don't fulfil expectations (see "Esperienze dei pazienti"). Hope our forum members are among the happy ones. If these are the results of one of the best reputed docs, I'm now feeling far less confident about the procedure.
  7. Thanks for the reply Matt. My PM function is not yet working but would appreciate links to other forums discussing Dr Erdogan and Doganay. 90% of Dr Erdogan's patients are foreign - mainly Germans and Italians, I think. He is very well respected on Italian forums where he is adored (Belli Capelli) but once again I can't find people from the forums who themselves have undergone the procedure with him. I suppose I will wait for the outcome of the procedures undergone by members of this forum in Turkey recently and wish them all a blooming autumn of follicle fertility.
  8. I am considering an FUE procedure with Dr Erdogan or Dr Doganay as I live in Turkey. I have met Dr Koray Erdogan and both his team and he are extremely charming people. His photos appear to show that he has great skill. However, much (most) of the procedure is performed by technicians Like all of you, I want to be absolutely sure before making such a huge emotional and financial commitment. So I would like to know: Why exactly is everyone jumping on the Erdogan bandwagon lately? Is it because they have concrete proof of his skills (by which I don't mean before and after photos that have been selected by the clinic), but testimonies by people who have actually had surgery there? I haven't yet asked to be provided with contact details of ex-patients, but even if I had, I would imagine that only those of successful patients would be given. So on what basis are so many of you coming to the conclusion that Dr Koray (or any other surgeon) really is one of the best, especially given that technicians perform most of the procedure? For authenticity, I believe that clinics should post daily or weekly pics on forums of the patients they have operated on that day, and then we can follow the progress of that patient and get a realistic idea of the success rate of a given clinic or procedure. I realise that many patients travel for their procedures so we would be relying on them to provide the clinics with post-op photos. Sorry for the rambling post, but would appreciate any information before taking the plunge.
  9. Thanks Hariri and Spanker for your detailed and thoughtful observations regarding these 2 doctors. I am still awaiting a reply from Dr Koray's office (it's been a few days, but I understand he's very busy). At that point I will make a decision on whether to take the plunge in Istanbul or in Antalya next year. Antalya is always extremely hot and humid in summer (often 40 degrees C). I would suspect that could have a harmful effect on post-op recovery
  10. Hi, I'm new around here, but have been following posts on these 2 highly respected doctors very closely as they are the ones on my short list for a HT next year. I was veering towards Dr Koray based on the huge number of successful post-HT pics he's posted compared to Dr Hakan (although the ones I've seen coming from his Antalya clinic look great, too). I also live in Istanbul making an appointment with Dr Koray a lot easier. However, as Hariri has undergone surgery with both of these doctors I find his arguments very persuasive, especially with regard to the Choi Implanter. Did you notice a great difference in the results between these 2 docs. Hariri and in the initial scarring? As regards who touches the recipient, I am still awaiting a reply from Dr Koray about who performs the various steps of the surgery. Are you saying that Dr Hakan performs all the stages whereas Dr Koray does not. Apologies if I have misinterpreted your comments. I am deeply indebted to this forum for helping me to reach an informed decision about this big step, especially Hariri and Mickey for your highly informative posts about Turkey.
