  1. Mine is probably a similar length if not a little shorter than his. And no unfortunately I'm not game enough to post pics of my own! To add, I think I find short hair easier to blend because I like a messy style where the hair stands up. Trying a messy style with the hair standing up on end when it's long makes the unit hair sit in clumps where as the donor hair sits more separately. It creates a weird looking gap. Having the unit shorter allows the thick unit hair and my thick donor hair to just kind of buzz together naturally. However If you style your hair flatter to the scalp then longer hair is probably easier to blend. Anyway, what's more important for the blend is getting the color and density right. I have very thick donor hair so it's easy for me. Might be alot harder for those with thin donor hair.
  2. I find short cuts are much easier to blend. You often get kind of weird gaps or change in hair behaviour where the hair parts when its long. When its short it just blends perfectly in my experience. But I use product to get the natural hair to stand up with the unit. The sun and shampooing it was giving me big color problems at first. It was fading fast. But I discovered Keune coloring products which have extremely specific colors. And I have an ashy brown very similar to London which is apparently hard to color without having redish tones. But one of the very specific tones in Keune's line is the perfect match so color issues are no longer a problem at all. Whenever it fades a little i just brush some of that through and leave it for 5-10 mins and it's perfect again. I go to the gym and do a bit of running, but I've been told I must sweat less than most people or something because after a month of wearing it's always still nailed on tight and difficult to get off.
  3. Yes you can get partial replacement systems for just where you need it. Used to have one myself before switching to the full. Some people would probably recommend you just get a full system if you're getting one anyway. Obviously depends on what you're comfortable with in the end.
  4. Given that you've only had it attached for a week that's odd. Perhaps they started you off with a weaker than usual adhesive just to experiment? I usually avoid wetting my hair or doing anything that will cause me to sweat alot for about 40+ hours after getting it bonded. It still hasn't set properly during this period and is more vulnerable. For me sometimes during exercise or heavy sweating it might become looseish around a point at the edge, but once you cool down the glue kind of just re-sets and goes back to being as strong as before. Maybe try having the shower on a cooler temperature also.
  5. This is what a lace base looks like: This is what a skin base looks like: A good quality version of either type will allow you to see the scalp without looking suspicious. Can you tell which of these yours is? Also, did they use adhesive all over your scalp? or just the edges? or did they use tape around the edges instead? I just ask these things because your good experience with World HS is making me very tempted to switch to them Just a bit further to drive is the only downside.
  6. Then Enough said. His lace is quite visible in alot of photos when zoomed in. That's what you get for wearing it slicked back so much. I've seen people with the same hair style with completely invisible laces though.
  7. Hey Matt. Congratulations, looks great! I thought the same thing about the front feeling too thick at first. Got used to it pretty quickly though. Yours doesn't appear unnaturally thick at all. May I ask what the base is like? Is it a lace? or a transparent plastic sheath? Also, here's some good tips for making them last longer without fading, getting dry or thinning (ignoring the fact that it's aimed at DIY wearers):
  8. Just manage your expectations. It'll take some getting used to at first. Also might take a few tries before you get it looking as good as you want. I'm still on my first full sized unit and there are several things I don't like about it that I can't wait to fix on the next. Worth giving them a phone call about the lack of taking measurements. At least to understand why that is.
  9. The fact that they didn't do a mould probably isn't anything to be too concerned about, but I don't know I've never ordered one myself. For me they did a very quick one just for a rough idea. Then once it came in and I was shaved they got the exact mould. The first one they got me was much larger than I needed so had plenty of cutting room. Do you happen to know what their opening hours are?
  10. Not at all surprised that they tried so hard to sell you the meds. They did that to me too and were extremely persistent. Funny thing is they charge like $4000 dollars per year for them too when you can get em for around $50 a year at a pharmacy. Some other things in this story do surprise me though. Mainly that you jumped in so quickly. May I ask which of their packages did you get? I hope you know which base they are making it in. That could depend on whether you can get the style you wanted. Also, did they order you the full cap? or just for ontop? Looking at their website, I think their prices are actually really good given that it includes unlimited servicing with no extra charge. I'll be keeping them in mind if I don't want to bother DIY'ing. Also surprised that they said a week or two. I thought it generally took more like two months. I hope you've grown your hair out long to make the switch more seemless. Using concealers like Caboki in the mean time makes the switch easier too. The unit will probably feel overly thick to you at the front at first.
  11. Strangely worded question. Can you get a system with denser hair than older guys get? Yes. It works even better on younger guys with thicker hair because it's easier to blend.
  12. Hey Billy. I'll back you up here, I became a wearer recently too and I'm very very happy so far too. Big self esteem boost and improvement in life quality. Unlike you I got in early when I was still able to cover my hairloss with concealers. So I grew my hair out long, kept using concealers and then switched to a system. It just looked like I got a good haircut to everyone. No one knows except the ones I told. Just curious but did you get the skin base? or a lace? 1) The guy at my clinic surfs regularly and it doesn't budge and you can't tell. There's no way something like wind is going to be a problem. If someone literally gives it a good tug... It probably won't do anything unless they pull around the edge somewhere and it's really weak towards the end of the monthly cycle or something. 2) About 1 month is the standard length for a re-adjustment. 3) Can't help you here sorry.
  13. Nother young Aussie here who just joined the board. Just got into systems quite recently but have never talked to any fellow wearers before. AussieCraig, you at 22 reminds me a little of myself at 24. Did the whole concealers tricks and made a smooth transition to systems which no one noticed. Only did it under strange circumstances that I wouldn't have done otherwise too (although I wasn't tricked like that!). It encourages me alot to see that 7 years later you are still happy with them. I'm very happy so far as I've had a boost in self esteem and all round quality of life but I've had this lurking fear that I won't be able to afford them one day or I'll regret it eventually for some reason. Currently I pay too much. I go to one of the most expensive clinics (Not available in VIC) and get the top of the line skin base. Their service is amazing and they hold your hand through every step of the way and have found solutions to every issue I've had so far. Unfortunately I may have to start looking for cheaper options soon so I'll be keeping an eye out on these boards for advice on finding a good balance between quality and finances in this country. Is it an option to buy them in bulk from overseas and then pay a clinic to get them cut in? Or will the clinics tell you to F off since you didn't buy from them? I'm noticing alot the guys on this site that went the hair transplant route instead of hair systems seem like they are in hell with problem after problem. Making me more confident about my choice.
  14. Just joined this board and this is the first thread I've read. I must say I'm confused. Why would someone who's hair is so important to them put themselves through all of this when you could just get hair replacement and look exactly how you want for the rest of your life? Unless you cant afford it? (pretty cheap though if you order in bulk from overseas). Do you at least use Caboki/Topik microfibre to thicken up?
