  1. Yes I am not complaining about the result at all. I wouldn't say anything about results for at least another 6 months. In fact I am very happy with my recovery so far. Arriving at 48 hours mark I have experienced no pain or other complications at all. The purpose of the post was to inform patients considering Dr. Humayun for HT about my experience. Things I am not very happy about are being quoted two different prices, being told that the doctor will work on hair line and no final review by the doctor. I have added a few pre and post op pictures to my profile. I hope you guys are able to access it. I am new to the forums so let me know if any settings need to be changed for you guys to be able to view them.
  2. I think its too early to say if I am satisfied or not. But I was under the impression that the doctor himself would be a lot more involved in the process. I understand if he trusts his staff but at least he should have had a final look to make sure everything looks fine. That would be very encouraging for any patient.
  3. Thank you guys. I probably should have consulted a few doctors but for me the deciding factor was how Dr. Humayun stood by his patients if they didn't get the desired results. I wanted that comfort that doctor would do his best to maintain his reputation and was willing to pay a premium for it. I sent my photos to Dr. Humayun's assistant before I travelled to Pakistan. The assistant gave me an estimate of 2500 grafts. When I met him (assistant) in his office he confirmed his estimate and I paid for 2500 grafts. I did ask one of the technicians how they count the grafts and he said that every technician counts as they prepare grafts. So by the time grafts are ready they have the total figure. But as I said I was told that my grafts were "around 2700". Dr. Humayun did mark my hairline and divided the recipient area into different numbered boxes. I have no idea what those numbers meant and don't remember if it was done before or after taking the pictures. I have the pre-op photos on my phone and will take post-op tomorrow and post them.
  4. Experience with Dr. Humayun Mohmand: Assessment and booking: I called the number mentioned on Dr. Mohmand's website about 6 weeks before travelling to Pakistan. The person I was talking to told me that Dr. Mohmand performs procedures in Peshawar and Islamabad. I asked for per graft price in both cities and said I would call back when my travel plans are confirmed. I called a week later and a different person answered the phone. He said that Dr. Mohmand would only perform surgeries in Islamabad and gave me a 33.33% higher cost per graft. When I told him about my earlier discussion on the same number, he said that the phone was answered by his assistant and did not give accurate information. He quoted me 11.11% higher cost per graft for other doctors in the clinic than the earlier price. After doing some research I decided to pay the premium and get the surgery done by Dr. Mohmand. I was given a list of blood tests before the surgery. The day: I arrived at the clinic half an hour before my appointment. Dr. Mohmand came after about 15 minutes and asked me to go to the waiting area upstairs. A person took me to his office and explained the procedure to me. He said that Dr. Mohmand will take pictures and then will work on computer to calculate angles etc. Then he will take the donor strip, the technicians will prepare grafts and then Dr. Mohmand will work on the hair line while technicians will take care of the rest of the recipient area. As explained, Dr. Mohmand came, took pictures and went away. I was given local anaesthesia and Dr. Mohmand marked the donor area. They asked me to move to the bed and without telling me what was going to happen next started to remove the strip. It was then handed over to the technicians while I waited. Dr. Mohmand then came and made the incisions. The technicians started working on the recipient area and to my surprise Dr. Mohmand did not insert even a single graft himself. All the work including hair line was performed by the technicians. The process was essentially painless (except for the anaesthesia part of course) in a very comfortable environment. I was watching TV during the whole procedure. Staff was very friendly, lunch and refreshment were provided during the procedure. Bottom line: 1- Having paid a premium price I feel cheated by the amount of work technicians performed. Dr. Mohmand himself performed less worlk than even what was told before the surgery. He did not even come to see check at the end of it. 2- Staff is very friendly and the environment is very comfortable. But they would not tell you anything about what they are doing or the progress unless you ask them. I even had to ask them how many grafts did I get. Their answer: about 2700. No breakdown - no accurate figure! 3- Too early to say anything about results. Will keep posting updates. Day 2 and no pain experiened.
