  1. this post is ridiculous level cop-out. Did you even take the time to read it properly? First off -its was his Asst. NOT the "expert in Surgical Treatment" who saw me. And as you can see but the other poster here -they also had a very poor experience with the Asst who steered them down the wrong path. B. My 1st Surgeon was also of the same level board certified and clout (if that matters) as Rahal -and she had a far more thorough vetting method told me many options and gave me time to think about taking calls for more questions if needed. Part of running a great business is your ability to properly communicate with your clientele. If option A doesnt look great, have the wherewithall to talk them thru whatever options may still be available. This guy did the opposite -i got the impression he thought id yet again ask for a smaller job and they werent that interested. To clinch my claim -when i contacted him again, after i told him his meeting was pretty depressing he apologized and said 'sorry, i was just getting over a cold". And then offered for me to speak to Rahal himself for a "$75 fee". Does that sound expert level to you? Or more of a money machine.
  2. Yeah maybe the same person -....ive heard great things about those 2 but in honesty- the 1st clinic i went in AZ was one of the board recognized "leader" types and while she was good (very little scar for fut) im not sure she was any better than the more generic place in Philly for my 2nd and they were a hoot to work with - like we laughed and joked the whole time. The Micro-needling I do myself -1.5mmm 1 per week. part of the reason i feel empowered again after that awful visit was I have some level of control (with results) rather than just helplessly witnessing a tragedy lol
  3. Im actually taking the Duta topically and i guess saying No sides" might be a slight exaggeration. Im not sure if the bedroom is 100% as im 53 and on TRT i do have cialis -like a very small nibble sized dose if i think i need. But none of the foggy head/zero libido. It is much pricier tho -i may look into making my own topical
  4. So i probably havent posted here in years. Ive had 2 "small HT's" both around 900- first was like 12 years ago and the other maybe 3 years ago. one in Phoenix, AZ and the other in Philadelphia,PA. Sadly neither doctor told me its imperative i get and stay on a Fin type medicine and I have used Minox off/on for 8 years and tried Oral fin a few years back but with sides i didnt like. Anyways, fast forward to now at 53 yo, and on not only TRT but basically a pretty pharma based hormonals system due to a syndrome called dysautonomia. The short of it is the HT's def helped, but if I dont use Toppik it dont looks so great -and thats according to a wide consensus. My first Ht was the cutting kind off of the left side of head and the 2nd was FUE from the back. I really never felt like they were packing the density of the many successful looking HT's although i most assuredly admit i also couldnt afford a large grafting session at once. So moved to toronto 3 years ago and contacted Dr Rahal's office as they are known as :"The King of Hairline" and I really just want mine ever so slightly evened (less widow peak) and slightly refortified behind my other HT hairs. The Asst i called said it had been too soon from my last HT (bout a year or so) and so i waited another 6 months. After coming in, the guy just gave me nothing but bad news. First showing how I was growing my hair kinda funny to "hide" my temples (trust me and a gust of wind -im well aware!), then saying the donor area looks to sparse and i really dont look like a candidate. Now Im a pragmatist and can handle blunt truth - but this guy had no positive ideas or steps for me to think about and anything i mentioned he poo-poo'ed. Man was i sinking. I then brought up last case resort of SMP and he siad "Yeah...maybe that could " -but the point is he was just really dissuading me from taking any action and just wanting me to basically resign to the situation. Man i left feeling like sh8T. I still knew that with toppik i could get by and even sometimes look pretty good, but surely there had to be SOMETHING to grasp onto! then I looked around reddit and found a Hair Loss group -Boom! the big 3 Minox, Fin/Duta and Micro Needling. YES! Im all in -ive been doing that the past year and half and no its not HT finish but damned if it didnt restore a certain pretty decent looking shape again. Why on earth didnt that guy recommend Anything!? He saw i was desperate. So i emailed him and he said, that Dr Rahal had seen my pics and agreed i wasnt a candidate but if i wanted i could pay $75 to have an in person re-assessment...Ok. Gotcha. This aint about the money to me... heres a question? If i had an FUT from 1 side of my head, then surely there is "some" available from the other...? Not even addressed. I just had to share this for anyone else whos been totally deflated by some of these HT docs or offices -its NOT always the end or final or even a good answer. I wish you all the best. PS: Im on Topical Duta, no sides
  5. Wow gotta say i just contacted Dr Rahals office just to get an idea of how many grafts they think i might need to lower the hairline by 1 cm alongside pictures etc...and man i gotta say they were the least helpful, more corporate response of all the Hair Clinics ive talked to. Totally objecting to even speculating (again with full measurement photos) whatsoever because my last procedure was finished7 months ago and their policy is 10 months before another one. I told them repeatedly -I get that, im just trying to plan ahead, ya know, to get an idea and same corporate response over and over -even ending the conversation with "We thank you for your understanding...contact us again!" Like WTH - man they are a far cry from the many hair clinics ive talked to over the past decade. I get that they might not want to give an "absolute answer" -but lets face it - no new grafts are coming miraculously into my hairline now -its worth planning for. My wife is going to be a hard sell on a 3rd procedure -so id like to start planning now. This was a far cry from Capri hair restoration Philly -my last HT guys. So friendly an warm, they talked to me for months and I literally left there like i had just left a great party - down to even the Asst Techs who worked there. Interaction with Rahal was a BIG disappointment.
  6. Thats really impressive result -Wow! When you say you had "forehead reduction" is that another procedure or is that just what you mean by really lowering your hairline with aggressive HT? Im 51 yo for those that have been asking and i think i still have plenty of donor hair - i also have a longish face with widows peak shape hairline and i think thats a lot of my issue. Getting it lowered and straighter would pretty much solve it i think. But i can see by FUE3361's results that he really spent alot of grafts on just the hairline area -im guessing thats the difference. My first HT (900) was almost just like a pencil line to establish a hairline (very high up tho) and the 2nd recent one (1200grfts) pretty much reinforced behind that and somewhat at the temporal region - i had asked them to lower it and they were like "yeah ok, a little...". They werent a well known outfit in Philadelphia region but they were very friendly and cost effective. Im now recently moved to Toronto region so maybe ill check out Dr Rahal for his opinion.
  7. Saw Palmetto and possibly DIMM. Also im on TRT and really since my 2nd HT it doesnt seem to effect any of my new growth. Possibly the back of my head but honestly i just dont care about that area
  8. Good points all around guys -i really appreciate it. Yes i guess i just mean an Aggressive Mature hairline -one in which i dont have to grow unnaturally long hair from behind the temple region to cover up the temple. Funny, after my last procedure (FUE) because of maybe the blood clotting stuff around my hairline which i was forbidden to touch -it pretty much achieved exactly what im looking for -that being if gave the illusion of the exact hairline i wanted and kinda thought i had - until they washed away a week or so later. I know i sound a little obsessed but honestly, when i do achieve that look -its like i dont need to think about anymore at all -if that makes sense. I am still very, very happy with the results of my first 2 HT's, honestly i couldnt imagine not having gotten them
  9. Thank you for that list - that helps somewhat. Yes i know i should post pics and what not (old and lazy) ill try to get around to that. So basically you're saying that more Docs are on board with that aggressive procedure now as long as you fit the above criteria? I remember back in the day it seemed there were maybe just a few docs maybe Rahal? and a few others that were considered "skilled" enough for aggressive hairlines.
  10. So i havent really posted nor checked on these forums in a few years -got my first HT probably a good 7 years ago for around 900 grafts and my most recent about 7 months ago for 1200 grafts. i have a high forehead and with receding temples kind of radically changes my facial features. The other thing i have the kind of hair that is some days curly, some days straight and some days frizzy. So there are days in which my hair may seem really healthy and it will at the same time kinda "drop" and almost give me a squared up lower hairline. Other days the opposite and i used to think it was imagination but many people have confirmed my face seems to radically change in appearance from day to day. For instance I used to fitness model and would have the agency constantly conflicted if i should also be a print face model - they themselves said my "looks changed to often". Ex-girlfriends have told me the same thing noticing if i went in the bathroom and kinda "pulled my hair forward (like Caesar) that my handsomness just went "way up" and "how did I do that?!". Obviously too much of that can give a guy a complex. When younger i used to just shave my head to a nice tennis ball buzz which looked great but not so great after the buzz receded -crazy how thats even noticeable on an almost shaved head!! Sorry for the long backstory but its kinda criticl to my question. WHen i first came here to this site and got my first HT - the "dont go to juvenile hairline" was a prominent statement here and by many HT doctors as they dont want you to "look funny as you age". Well, i can safely say that anytime my hair looks even close to juvenile depth, everyone including my wife think im sometimes 20 years younger -no exaggeration !! And look at older handsome guys -guys like George Clooney or even the 70 yo Dos XXX most Interesting Man whatever guy - very low Box hairlines. So what gives? Is it maybe that its the hardest to achieve and only top tier HT Docs can pull it off? Im seriously considering one last HT and just demanding they go to Juvenile level -im tired of constantly trying to achieve it thru "good hair days" and topikk. I know its never the same density as natural but even when i kinda fake a lower hairline with coloring -it has the same great effect.
  11. Hey man 1st off you look great but i also understand you dont want to lose and if you can gain an even more ground as far as returning your hair -do it! im in similar boat as i had one procedure for 1200 couple years ago and theres no question the effect on the opposite sex is profound - im a 45 yo brother and still have young females checking me out at the gym tho im happily married -its still nice Thing is, its starting to thin behind the hairline and if im not wearing Toppik, that Adonis vibe definetly drops a few levels -sometimes ALOT of levels, so Im also thinking of getting that thickened and maybe even lowering the hairline a bit cause I have a FiveHead. My wife was tepid but ok with 1st procedure but financially would have a fit if she found out i spent for a 2nd -so am considering a ninja move... Anyways, my advice would be to not say anything. If she finds out, just flippantly say "oh yeah, had a lil procedure done to thicken my hair" -like its no big deal. Girls thrive on confidence and yes it will even work if you get busted. Offering it up really has little value in my opinion but if you do, do it in the same manner as if you never gave it a second thought. good luck!
  12. Crazy this is coming to surface now as I just quit Fina about a month ago after maybe 6 years . Definitely was experiencing low libido but was hard to pinpoint as my wife was preggers last year and we all know how that goes. Anyways, had forgotte that it had been literally months at least since had having morning wood coupled with research that no dht also hurts strength I said enough was enough. Had T level measured and while Total was fine 550, Free was a shameful 65. So quit the Fin but still no wood until I sstarted on Vimm Plus which is like a miracle. Libido and M Wood is now literally off the charts -almost embarrassingly so. Fin had always been good for my crown as Rogaine was for my hairline but Rogaine also gave me such hollowed out eyes it utterly defeated the point of having good hair. TBh, after majorly cleaning up my diet and the addition of daily gobs of virgin red Palm oil , my hair health is better than it has been in maybe a decade. Goods riddance.
  13. Hey man -I was in exact same boat. One side was growing great while the other hairline looked like it had been forgotten although up unitl a little past 7months. Then it just kind of showed up one day -I hope you get similar relief cause it can be a nail biter.
  14. Thanks for replies -guess I needed some feedback Yep Greatjob, I have to admit she really knew what she was doing all along with only 900 grafts. I should post the picture of that literal 'hole in my hairline' that was present on my left temple side up until literally a few weeks ago. Thought I was going to have to live a life of dumping topikk to fill the hole but as others pointed out here all the time -give it a wee bit more time -still some maturing to go. I didn't believe them -now I do.
  15. *Crickets* Wow, apparently not a good fit for this community. Mods please lock thread and delete account.
  16. LOL well at 7.5 months a lot has changed -just recently but very rapidly in fact! First off I'd like to kick myself for the whole "I don't need a hat anymore..the Hat Guy" jubilance I conveyed in my 1st post. It's tru that the initial darkening of my recess by the procedure did make me feel better in kind of a tattooed effect -but I then went thru many months of misery and doubt. I also was pretty harsh on Dr. Keene and doubted the results but I'm here to say that is *finally* starting to look REALLY good! The left side was really lagging and I was really starting to doubt it would ever show up but it has and I am extraordinarily grateful. This is current and with zero toppik! I owe the good Doctor a strong apology and am glad to be eating crow PS- finally made an album with some Pre.
  17. I'd like to rescind my previous statement about Dr. Keene and hairlines -my other side seems to be coming in very well and I'm actually getting pretty happy about the result.
  18. Cool Mask keep us posted - I wouldn't mind have my temps filled with a bit more density but don't want another scar so if I could find an FUE doc willing and able... I think a red flag is when the doctor keeps trying to talk you out of it by saying "instead of 1 scar -you'll have thousands of little ones..." -yeah ok. I don't buy that for a second lol.
  19. I am also 7 months post from Dr Keene and also have issues with temple area. I went in only for hairline and while one side is filled preety well the other side (done by asst) needs a good amount of Toppik to hide the skin. I'm still holding out on a full review and pics but am wondering if hairline maybe just ain't her specialty....
  20. I don't know guys, I'm half black and have hair that can both curl when long or lay straight flat and even spikes and I was told that FUE just wasn't an option. They all said "we'll try" but every time every single one of the doctors I talked to tried real hard to steer me toward FUT. The doctor that finally did the procedure actually tried a few test FUE's and said only 1 of 10 hairs made it and switched to FUT. I don't know if it comes down to a doctors skill level or not - but I would make damn sure your doctor is fully confident first.
  21. Hey Anon345, to be honest the pain is minimal to non existent but the anxiety is real. I really wouldn't worry about the pain aspect as your head feels like a numb knob -a strange feeling and the more you think about whats actually happening and the fact that I wasn't able to move (have stationary anxiety) -the anxiety built, but the pain was never really an issue.
  22. Also like to chime in that overall 'hair health' factors in. Meaning, I'm dealing with a few endocrine/medical issues and there are days where my hair both HT, and original seem dead, thin, wispy etc.. those days I feel like the HT was a waste. Than I'll have days where for whatever reason, luster returns, my hair will form locks and my Ht looks great. Keeping the body & hair duo healthy can have an effect on all your hair.
