Would need to consider the depth of the grafts, angles, density also as if all very close then you need to suture etc and the punch holes join together if unless you do in stages, so a fair few variables to be honest. For large amounts the patients usually go electrolysis if they are not concerned about re using the grafts. Any route will usually take multiple sessions. I myself never dealt with this patient due to his nationality but the patient has skin issues prior as above written on the original post "As a result, he ended up with very visible plugs and damaged skin from his surgery", and also had severe folliculitis as evident in the photos. When we punch out it usually heals very well from all of our punch-out sessions and also improves more and more in time and many have attested to. No clinic will promise no scarring when you punch out but in all of my experience since 2009, all have healed well as a result and none have reported scars to be an issue moving on and are able to feel far better about being natural again. This patient reported he had styling options after so was confident for that and no having to hide his plugs. We do have recent updates of similar cases on other venues and if you email us we can share the links and the patients reported things got better and better as said here. I have spoken to the rep who dealt with this patient many years ago and he does not have any updates or we would have essentially shared them and he can answer here further any more details regarding this particular surgery and I have invited him to do so. If a patient has a skin tone that is more prone to scars then electrolysis is a possible option, assuming they do not want to re-use the grafts but we have punched out far larger cases and even used sutures and all have healed well thus far. Yes the patient healed well as shown in the above photos and this only gets better. He never came back for temple restoration as above as we said to wait and see how the loss goes as he was young and in hindsight that was a good choice.

This thread will help you for the pain and I wrote on it also in 2013..Essentially your clinic should tell you what to take but we advise the below.. Take care. Posted November 7, 2013 Some patients get occipital nerve pain post FUE. I've had it once in all my surgeries only, it comes around day 5/6 post op and is worse at night. I found painkillers, massaging cold aloe vera to the donor helps and took vitamin b tablets. It is a type of neuralgia and usually passes in a week. Punch size for me was always 0.75mm to 0.8mm manual, but maybe the injections more than punching that causes it. As said I only had it once in over 7,000 scalp FUE and never had it on my beard, it really does emanate from the occipital area outwards usually and when I describe it to patients they usually say it is exactly as I describe and all of the above help. When I was a student way back in 1990, I recall thinking, anyone over 40 won't be worried about hair -loss, it is that age where you just won't care about it. My tutor was 40 and a nw5 and I felt he was old and he probably doesn't even care and carries it well also. The truth is from experience, I was wrong, and in my early 50s now talk from experience and not just theory. It is so vital that the younger generations see this and plan accordingly. You will care in your 30s,40s and 50s and probably beyond.

Be good to see the top and the donor but even with a HT he won't be able to have a low hair line so will still be combing forwards if he wants things this low. He would look a lot better just to shave it and look normal. Barcode was an accurate description.

Hair loss from 14 so it will be aggressive, low and unnatural hair line that is already stand-alone and not connected and an occipital that has been extensively scarred and all by the time he hits 19...Diffused loss and the crown also dropping at the time of video..

Thanks for the tag. Density is really only one issue among several and in-fact densities would be more accurate as it will change from the transition zone to the defined zone etc as different FU are employed. It is also about strategic placement and angles etc. It is essentially about creating an illusion and the first few mm of hair line as per this video here, can take well over 400 singles alone to create that macro-irregularity needed for a natural hair line with fine singles on the outer front part of the hair-line initially. A photo is worth a thousand words so a video must be more but here is Dr.B himself explaining this over-looked aspect in design. If you consider even a conservative hair line can be 20cm in circumference and then going back 3 to 4mms with singles then we are hitting near 500 FU so around 60 FU per cm2 and then we drop to 40/45 with a use of twos and then as you go continue you can deploy 3 and 4 haired units and drop again. So, we don't design for density per se that is one variable but also skin contrast, native density, loss potential, hair calibre etc...but with the objective of giving a natural result.
