  1. Yea my hair definitely does grow straight up on top. The guy cut the entire top of my head with a #3 and the sides with a #2. When it grows a little longer it starts to lay back down again and looks much thicker. I do have pretty thin hair, but it's not bad when long. Keeping it long is the answer I guess. But i'm confused, you guys say it looks good but then also recommend me taking medication? So it does look like it's thinning? just not very bad yet? It's just that I don't want to take medication if I don't have to due to all the side effects. But of course I will if it means I'll have hair for longer. So to get medication could I just go into a walk-in clinic and see a random doctor, or should I google local dermatologists and make an apointment?
  2. This makes me feel good When I'm outside or whatever it doesn't look so bad, not nearly as bad as any of these pictures. These pictures are all taken with a very bright light right above my head (except for the first one showing my hairline) my hairline seems good. My hairlines the same as it's always been, it's matured a bit but i wouldn't say receding, right? I just kind of feel weird how it's more thin in some parts than others, that makes me think MPB or something...? I'm probably going to see a doctor regardless just to make sure, but i'm unsure how to... I live in Canada so it wont cost me (i think..) but I don't have a family doctor, would I just go to the walk-in or something and see a random doctor..?
  3. I have very blond hair as you can see, and I've noticed my hair ontop of my head where it looks thin grows literally straight up, could that be a reason why it looks so thin under direct sunlight? Or is this an actual bad case of thinning hair? I just find it so weird how my hair looked perfect normal and thick before i cut it... My crown was a little thin, but ontop was perfect... This honestly surprised me when I buzzed my hair, i wasn't expepcting this at all..
  4. Apparently I made this account when I was 18... I see the old pics I posted, man I wish I had that now! I turn 20 next month. Long story short, I kinda felt like my hair was thinning but I didn't think it was all that bad, it looked fine when I had medium length hair... Everybody always said how thick my hair was, but I knew it wasn't that thick... It looked pretty thick, but when I run my fingers through it I can feel and see how thin it is... Well, I decided to get a buzz cut just for fun... Whoa... Apparently my hair is very thin and now I don't know what to do, it's thin in the middle.. my hairline looks fine, my crown isn't even super bad.. but the middle.. What is this? Please help, I haven't been able to take my hat off infront of anyone for a week now, this makes me insanely depressed. I completetly forgot about my thin hair until i buzzed it.. I feel like it wont grow back as thick. it doesn't look bad in dim lit rooms as you see in first pic, but soon as i'm under direct sunlight in my house or outside it's awful..
  5. That is good to know! Does anyone know if buzzing my hair will make this more or less noticable? Unless that is impossible to tell, i am unsure... maybe somebody who has done it in the past, did it help or make it worse?
  6. Would getting a really short buzz cut make this more or less visible? I've been kind of wanting to shave it all off lately anyways, not fully sure yet though... Does wearing a lot of hats/beanies actually make you more bald? Because if i buzzed it odds are i'd be wearing a lot more hats, whereas now I never wear hats, ever.
  7. I'm 18 years old, and am starting to bald at the crown. For a while this really freaked me out, but i'm kind of starting to accept it. I don't care about going bald, I just wish that it would have waited until I was 30, or at least late 20's... but 18? I'm supposed to be starting college in a few months... This whole situation is making me really not want to go. I know there are a lot of others my age here on this site and throughout the internet with much worse hair, but I have yet to meet any person in real life my age with thinning hair such as myself. What can I do about it? To be honest, I don't want to take medication... In the long run i'd rather have my health than my hair. What good will hair be if i get cancer and have to loose it all to chemo anyways...? Anyways, i'll post some pictures, you can tell I have a decently thick head of hair everywhere but my crown, although my hair is kind of thinning and noticeable on the sides as well in bright lighting, but you can't tell here. I think my only option is changing my style... Would a buzz cut make this look better or worse? Since my hair is blonde i don't know. I also don't think a buzz cut would look good on me... I've had this exact same hair style for as long as i can remember, I feel really uncomfortable changing it now, especially to a short buzz cut... *edit* I looked at the picture of my crown again, and its actually a bit worse than it looks in the picture... I didnt get the best angle and i had to take the pic with one hand otherwise my other arm would cast a shadow covering my head aha, i would say it looks 10% worse in reality than it does in that picture..
  8. I'll be sure to get this professionally checked out, but I have another random question/statement before I do so... This is really weird, maybe my hair has always been like this and I just haven't noticed it? Because I did some experimenting and found out that... My hair only looks balding in my room, in this lighting... I took a picture of the back of my head at the bathroom at work today because i wanted to see how bad it looked because i was self concious of people seeing it.. and i looked at the picture and it looked like i had a full thick head of hair, i was confused... so i took a few more all from different angles and they all looked exactly the same! That made me feel really good and surprised, yet confused... So when I got home i took another picture of my hair in our bathroom, and it was the same! And so i was all happy, but... then when i looked in the mirror and took another picture in my room, it looked exactly like the one I posted... So I tried this in a bunch of different places with different lighting... and the only time my hair looks really thin, like in the picture above, is when i'm in my bedroom under this lighting...? Does anybody know why this is? i find it to be very strange... I do have a really weird dull yet bright light in my room and it gives me headaches a lot, but still... This makes me feel better, yet, not much better because my hair obviously still is thinning if its seeable under any light, right? Maybe this lighting just makes it more visisble, but its still there regardless of where i am nonetheless?
  9. I really like Irelands answer haha, but i'm afraid it is thinning... If it was a hair whorl it would have always been this noticable, right? Its weird though, sometimes it seems as if i have a full thick head of hair, and other times its like this... I used to have longer hair a few weeks back, but looked in a mirror at the back of my head and noticed it was really bad and it freaked me out so I got my hair cut really short and it looked fine, but its starting to grow again and now it looks awful. But it never used to look this bad with my hair still this short, usually its fine until my hair gets long... I guess I just have to keep my hair really short from now on, but it grows so fast... I have to get my hair cut every week or two to maintain it that short... I dunno This is just very depressing for me and I cant get it off my mind, its unfair how its happening so soon...
  10. Hello, I'm 18 years old, and my hair has been thinning since I was 16. But it's never been as bad as it is now, my hair is drastically thinning at the crown, and is becoming quite noticeable on both sides of my head as well when I style it. My confidence and self esteem is already low, and this hair loss is just making everything 100x worse. I don't know what to do. My dad is 43 and still has a full head of hair, I don't get it. Although, both of my grandparents (on both my moms and dads side) are bald. Here's a picture of me after a shower once my hair has completely dried, this used to be the time in which my hair was the the fullest... it gets worse throughout the day as my hair tends to get greasy.
