  1. Wow! This is an unbelievable result for a mere 2500 grafts. Congratulations anony4hair. You must be very pleased with this result...
  2. What does maturation timeline mean for hair transplants? For example, I have read in this forum that if you are at the 6 month mark, the results are only 40% matured. Does this mean that if 100 hairs are transplanted, then only 40 of these hairs would have grown at the 6 month mark? Here is the maturation timeline that I swiped from one of the posts (credit to Blake): 3 months: 10% maturation of implanted grafts 4 months: 20% 5 months: 30% 6 months: 40% 7 months: 50% 8 months: 60% 9 months: 70% 10 months: 80% 11 months: 90% 12 months: 100% maturation
  3. Thanks greatjob. That link provides some great context...
  4. What are peoples thoughts on Long Hair Transplantation aka LHT? What is the cost for this relative to FUT and FUE? Are there and good docs in north america that do this?
  5. AllAboutHair: Great result from the front. Can you post pics of the top of your head?
  6. Nice! How many singles, doubles, triples and quads did you get?
  7. Go on propecia right-away to keep the hair that you have. Too early for a transplant...
  8. Dave: Thx, will follow your advice. Waiting for 12 months will be the toughest part for me. Patience is not one of my virtues, but I'll just have to be patient
  9. Kanth: The results already look impressive. How many grafts did you get? I had my hair TP done on Dec 17th 2012. I am going through the ugly duckling phase and was wondering how long it would take for my baldspots to have some light coverage. From your pics, looks like there will be light coverage by month 3 post-op and better coverage by month 4. Is that accurate?
  10. Dave, how long did it take for your pre-op native hair to start growing? I had my hair TP on Dec 17th 2012 and am going through the ugly duckling phase, anxiously waiting for at least my pre-op native hair to grow back.
  11. By Asian, do you mean "Oriental" asian such as Chinese, Korean, etc. OR "South" asian such as Indian/Pakistani? I have been told that Oriental asians have lower hair density while South Asians have high densities.
  12. Thanks 1978matt & chrisdav. I was leaning towards that number as well, since it will be my first TP. Rahal seems to be the most referred doc on this forum, and it looks like he has good experience with mega-sessions. I have also read that once you have had the Hair TP, there is a risk that your existing hair could also be lost due to shock loss. Has anyone here experienced this or is this here-say? I am concerned because I still have some hair left in my mid-scalp and I could potentially lose all of it after the TP, thereby creating more immediate gaps that need to be filled, even though I just had the transplant.
  13. I'm 34 now. Can't take Propecia as it is causing pain in my lower abdomen, so I have been applying minoxidil to my balding areas for many years. It is helping to slow down hair loss, but not significantly, as my hairline recedes further every year... Thanks for all the great advice, Shampoo and Cant decide...
  14. Hi all: I am glad to be on this forum, and from what I have read, forum members are extremely helpful. First of all, happy holidays to all. I have some questions, and I realize that some of you will ask me to seek professional advice for this, but I wanted to get your answers as well, if you are willing to provide them, as they would be most helpful to me: 1) I have attached some headshots of mine(see below). What NW level do you think I am at? 2) I would be looking for a transplant with density at the front and coverage for the remaining areas, i.e. mid-scalp and crown. I've got dark, slightly wavy, coarse hair on dark skin (as you can see in my pic). Some of you are masters at this, since you have either had multiple transplants or seen enough of these pictures to makes educated guesses, so how many grafts do you think I might need to achieve my requirements? 3) Which Hair TP doctors would you recommend in Ontario (Canada)? Thanks -M
