  1. I think 500 grafts was a conservative estimate, but that's also considering the slight gap on my left side as well (if I try to part my hair it's more noticeable....but not by much). Extractions were done by Dr. Hasson's two technicians, who both did a fantastic job (my transection rate was extremely low). Density was around the 55-60 FU/cm2, but my hair is very thick. There's funny story about how H&W purchased an ARTAS machine to test out, but all it's good for is collecting dust. They prefer manual punch instead.
  2. Just in time for a new haircut, I thought I'd give an update on my growth status. The Good: Having a hairline; being able to cut my hair close on the sides without anyone noticing scarring; transplanted follicles are continuing to soften. The Bad: Developing hair greed...maybe I wish my hairline was slightly more rounded at the edges; My left side is just a little weaker than my right side, but I don't think people notice unless they're 6 inches away from my scalp. The Ugly: Considering a 500 graft touch up to make it look perfect (there's a very small gap where transplanted hairs meet the sides of my head, as well as 250 or so for my left side). This is probably a five year plan though, because I don't want to use unnecessary grafts. In all, I couldn't be happier with the decision I've made. Yes, it was costly to go with a North American based doctor. But everyone I met from H&W has made the process both exciting and enjoyable.
  3. I'm gonna go a bit of the other way on this one and suggest you actually trim the hair up top a bit. As your new hairs will soon start sprouting through, it's easier to manage if all the hairs a relatively the same length. At the same time, I'd still recommend applying pure aloe (zero alcohol) to the recipient area to keep moisture and reduce redness. The longer you can let your skin naturally breathe, the better. Can't wait to see your updates over the next few months!
  4. I'm starting to use it less frequently than before (at this point I'm only using it in the morning). After the operation, I began using it on my temple points and I can definitely see an improvement in the native hair caliber. But either way, I'm definitely going to keep using finasteride. Good luck with the growing process yourself. It takes time, but you'll soon see the results!
  5. Hey all, Life has been very hectic as I've relocated to LA, which explains why I didn't upload any 7 month photos. Now in month 8, the finished product is only months away and I couldn't be happier. Not only that, I get a lot of compliments from girls about my hair style and overall thickness.
  6. KShattsy, I think your HT looks great so far! You're going to be happy with this hairline design as well. By week 3 you should be fine getting a haircut. I actually got one 2 weeks post op, but I don't know if I would recommend it for everyone (I heal very very quickly). On the scab situation, it's helpful to remove them to allow your scalp to breathe. I would spend a lot of time in the shower, allowing the scabs to soften, and then gently massaging them with the shampoo. You're doing the right things! Keep up and you'll have a great result to look forward to.
  7. You're going to be grinning from ear to ear in a couple months! I remember you said that you wanted a more mature hairline, and I think this was a much better decision than going for an aggressive "straight-line." Congrats TP! You're well on your way.
  8. I'm a few days late on posting my 6 month update, sorry guys! At this stage, it looks like things are still filling in. My left side remains a bit thinner than my right (but perhaps it is more likely that my right side is softening faster). This might sound silly, but it's cool to step out of the shower with my hair slicked back and see a definitive hairline (with no daylight in between). I had also been worried that perhaps Dr. Hasson made my temples too pointed, but I can see now how (when dry) the hairline perfectly flows and looks mature (without being "boxy"). Next update: Month 7. Cheers, N0
  9. It's been really busy lately, but I've been able to take a few photos for everyone to see how things are going 5 months after my FUE operation with Dr. Hasson. My left side is a little thinner than my right, but both seem to be filling in nicely so I'm not very worried. I can't speak highly enough about the hairline design Dr. Hasson gave me. While it attempts to restore my hairline, it's relatively mature and fits my face well. Cheers, N0
  10. As you can imagine, the most cumbersome part of the process was extraction. With manual punch this took up most of the time (with the two technicians rotating back and forth every couple hours). For me, part of the reason I went with Hasson was due to the care they take with extractions. I experienced no shock loss and my donor scarring looks great for only 4 months. Operation was on the pricey side (you can see their pricing guide on the H&W website), but I think it's worth my peace of mind.
  11. 4 Month Update There's a lot to be excited about right now! Growth happening day by day, but it's difficult not to get too anxious. For everyone else out there, I think it's a good idea to take pictures every other week. At the very least, you'll be able to notice the differences as you progress and won't get caught up by what you think are "weak spots."
  12. Three Month Update It's a really exciting time right now! When I look into the mirror each day, I see more and more hair! I continue my daily regimen (1mg fin, minox) and all appears to be going well. If you look at the photos, you'll notice I've developed a couple pimples. I was able to drain them and the redness is (thankfully) going away. Otherwise, I'm really happy by the amount of early growth! Next update will be 4 months. Cheers, N0
  13. Absolutely amazing work, Spidey!! Judging by your hair style, you know you have a great result! One quick question though -- in terms of your overall hairline, would you say that it's complete "as is" our would it require another HT pass for you to be able to slick back your hair?
  14. Very good breakdown! Those 3's and 4's should really help provide the density I imagine you're looking for. I'm glad to see that your transection rate was very low as well - Dr. Hasson's FUE techs make it look easy!
  15. Thanks all for the comments. Like trashpanda mentioned, they did shave a few cm into my existing hairline. This was partly because the area on either side of my forelock had a few weak hairs giving the illusion that all was good. On the other hand, shaving down the area helped the techs and Dr. Hasson try to match the density of my native hair. I probably should have mentioned in my update, but there are many thin hairs on either side of my forelock in high quantity (which were not captured in my photos). I'm hoping these are the new graphs coming in!!!
