  1. My mother insists my hair looks far more like my father's side, and none of his brothers or father went completely bald. At 47, my father probably has a NW 1.5. The rest of his brothers are in their late forties also, and they look NW 2.5ish...all guesswork really, but their hairlines have very evidently receded without ever properly balding. One brother is in his early thirties with a widow's peak and a NW 2; his hairline shape is at odds with mine, however. Both my maternal grandfather and one of two maternal uncles went entirely bald by their 40s, whilst the other has retained a sort of mature hairline look. The prognosis, if I were to extrapolate thence, looks bleak. We'll just have to see, distressing though it is.
  2. Thanks for the advice, man:) What would you estimate my Norwood classification to be? And by 'more mature hairline', do you mean a mature hairline, or beyond that?
  3. Apologies for the rather unflattering pics btw...
  4. Guys, I've somewhat importunately already posted a few threads of this ilk, but the panic is such that I want to present a few more pics. This time, however, my hair's wet, which should hopefully delineate my hairline a little more markedly. Apologies for how incessant I am, but I really do think I'm moving beyond a NW2/ my hair's now cosmetically unappealing. I've been taking Finpecia for 10 days without side effects; some forum users have claimed Goa (Verna Estate) Facility Finpecia is either fake or ineffective, yet finances continue to dictate economically viable choices. The pictures don't quite capture some nuanced details. For example, both temples are sort of curved, and are continuing to curve I'd imagine, i.e. at the sides of the head. It's producing the classic MPB U-shape/horse-shoe shape in the frontal portion of my head a little too early (at 20) than I'd care for. With this shape currently taking form, I'd guess that as a younger man, my hair loss is likely to degenerate even further in a relatively short period of time; this must be more than a mature hairline. The corners reach a depth of slightly over an inch which is consistent with mature hairline dimensions. It is, however, the current shaping of my temporal sides that concerns me. I was under the impression they remained straight or at least very intact...all this is so confusing. Do bear in mind I've always had a rather large forehead, but I definitely feel quite a deal of recession's going on notwithstanding. If you look closely, you'll see quite a few very small hairs at the hairline's edge. Although they're probably miniaturising, perhaps Finpecia's acting quickly? Can anyone clarify/estimate the gravity of my hairloss/reassure me? Sorry for whining guys...v worried young person here... John
  5. Well if you think it's in poor shape, then I suppose I should!
  6. I've already ordered two months' worth of finpecia from InHouse Pharmacy, but still feel a little reserved about using it...I just feel that all the thinning that's going on has moved beyond simple hair line maturation. Don't get me wrong, I've looked at childhood pics of myself, and I've always had that upward curve at the right temple, and an extraordinarily large forehead:P Regardless, medication as a preventative measure surely can't be all that deleterious?! Also, thank you all immensely for your support; you've all been so encouraging when all I can think about is how terrible my hair looks:P
  7. The first set of pics show when I don't pull my hair back too tightly; I have however done this is the last set:)
  8. Here's a couple more pics as proof of deep recession.
  9. Hey all - thanks so much for the input, but I think those pics didn't do justice to what's really going on at my hair line. I've attached a pic of the left side of my hair line in profile view. I think there's a lot of outward thinning going on. I've also ordered finpecia from InHouse Pharmacy because I want to abate whatever's going on as soon as possible so as to retain my hair.
  10. Hi guys! With mounting panic, I'm estimating my hair loss to be at NW3 standard? I've always had a chunky forehead () so what hair loss has occurred seems rather noticeable. Thankfully I haven't lost much density, except for maybe a tiny little bit in the middle, but I've always had a sort of indentation there, and presumably it's just moved up a little further in accordance with more general hair line recession. To be honest, I think it's worsened somewhat since the summer, and the stress/depression it's causing has left me suicidal on more than one occasion across the last few weeks...really can't bear to think of losing my hair, vain though it incontrovertibly sounds! At 20, I wish it was just a mature hairline, and I've crinkled my brow to show where the juvenile hair line (?) would be... Maybe you guys could help me out (pwetty pwease) and offer some input with regards to your own Norwood estimations? I went to the doctor at the beginning of my academic term (October), but she refused to prescribe medication on the grounds that a) she didn't see anything wrong; and b) androgenic alopecia isn't a medical problem, so she won't prescribe medication baselessly. I've tried ketoconazole shampoo, but it reallllly hasn't done anything for me. I've also got a lot of what I thinkkkk are miniaturising hairs along the hairline...shit. Sorry if I seem very maudlin; 'tis not my intention...would just love someone to say you're not losing your hair/it's not that bad/it's not very visible. Both corners of my hair line are rather asymmetrical, with the right assuming a more rounded shape compared to the left, yet I attribute this to my always having had a sort of cow's lick or more rounded shape to this part of my hair line. You'll have to take my word for this...I won't upload ghastly pre-teen pictures:P I have, however, attached some horrendous pics for your entertainment... Thanks so much guys for any help you can give.

  12. Hi all, Just posting a few pics, thinking you all might care to help evaluate my degree of hairloss. I'm currently thinking an NW3 as progressed from NW2 earlier in the year. I've got some pics, though they're not of great quality. There is, as far as I'm aware, no thinning on the crown. Pretty much convinced this isn't a mature hairline, even though my forehead's always been pretty enormous with a hairline beginning above the forehead protuberances (whatever they're technically called). Would really appreciate some advice. Ideally, I'd be satisfied if it were a mature hairline, but the inwardly receding right portion of the frontal lock is a bit damning. The sides of my hair have always been widely set, and the temples pretty high also...but still, MPB is MPB
