Not that it's illegal or wrong, but it's really confusing since other power users on the forum use that. #personalrequest Secondly, don't go to a hair surgeon because they're local. It's probably the worst basis for any cosmetic surgery. No surgeons are alike and don't forget, they're going to cut into your head and alter it forever, so you want them to be nothing short of amazing right? Expect to fly to the surgeon. The flight and hotel cost is nowhere near the cost of the surgery so it shouldn't at all be a hinderance. I'm not aware of Hair Transplant companies, only surgeons by name. Others might have information on that. My favorites that i've seen on here are Dr. Konior, Hasson and Wong, and Dr. Rahal. There are some more that others will recommend. Good luck!

Yeah, don't go to a surgeon based on your region, go by your research. More than likely, expect to get on a plane for this type of surgery. It's also hard to define what 'horribly expensive' means since it's entirely relative. I'd research the IAHRS list for sure. I'm happy with my results from Dr. Konior. Find a surgeon from whom you can't find a bad review of anywhere. That's where I landed.

Thanks for clarifying regarding Dr. Konior and FUE. You had more discussion with him on the method. *1500 grafts a day, that would have made my surgery/graft count take almost three days instead of one. I can see why they charge more for it for sheer overhead costs alone.

I still need to post photos of my scar because people have asked. I just haven't been able to find it nor is it visible with short hair. In that video I don't doubt that the back of his head looks like a normal head without any visible scar with the way he wears his hair. But since we don't have access to that guy I'll take photos of the back of my head. *For what it's worth, you'll notice in my profile pic how short I wear the sides of my head, and no scar is visible. Spanker, did you ever post pics of the back of your head? Does your Konior scar show at all?

My ears were burning... Thanks Spanker, and yes I'd have to agree that Konior is worth traveling to where ever you are in the world. Many from all over the world go to him if they're candidates, of course I have a bias. I believe only performs FUT but you can always discuss with him his reasons if he deems you a candidate and you're curious, and typically has a 3-4 month waiting list. Though when I asked about it I got the impression that he would do a FUE if I insisted. My feel is that his scar recovery + positive yield (which is transforming) is so high that it hasn't proven beneficial. If he had an outpouring of complaints from clients regarding scars, he wouldn't do it, I truly believe that. I also think Hasson/Wong have great results as well. I'd combine two things and not just one over the other: 1) research on this forum and 2) healthy amount of phone-consultations with doctors before rushing in. I wanted a kick-ass hairline artist, and that's why i went to Konior.

I'm not familiar with your doctor but I know all of my new grafts fell off and I had tons of scabbing that I was constantly spraying off. My understanding is that if there isn't a bulb-shaped follicle at the end, you're not losing that hair it's just shedding, and that the follicle is still under the skin for good. It's traumatic for sure, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions and keep spraying the area so the scabs will fall off when they're ready. I'm not a medical expert, just relaying my experience. I'd never hesitate to call your Dr's office.

Yep, my hair is naturally curly but some of mine looked like wonky hairs with random bends. Since those have shedded out all is normal from there on out.

True, his site needs an update of more current work and probably an update in general. I think they're working on it behind the scenes.

Hey guys, I'm at 11 months post op and I was wondering - has anyone experienced itchy scalp around this time. Yesterday it was pretty crazy, and the scar zone seemed extra itchy. I hadn't experienced this since the healing time (post op around 1- 2 months). I'm wondering if it's the season change since I live in a non-humid part of the country, or general over dryness. Some Head and Shoulders seemed to help after the fact. The scar is very minimal and I can't find it without looking for it, so i assumed my head had forgotten about it. Just wondering if anyone has experienced it from the FUT club.

Same here. When i first got on rogaine, some hairs fell out, but that was just the hair recycling itself. Then it worked more like fertilizer. When I first got on Finasteride I felt a loss of pep from Mr. Johnson for a couple weeks but then my body adjusted, my loss was sustained, and I'm hornier than I was before.

I was nervous and anxiety-filled before my procedure too. What you're feeling is normal. But dang, it's worth it if you're under the care of a good doc, which I'm sure you are since you did the research. The overall experience of the surgery wasn't nearly as tough as I thought, mostly fun actually. Plus the drugs are a nice touch. I dozed into a magical world of psychedelic colors and sounds (no joke) so my memory of the entire day is positive. I'm starting to wonder how I would take to LSD now, but I'll stick to enjoying my new hair.

Looking forward to an update man. Konior brethren assemble! Also, I reread what you wrote about pimples on your head and was wondering if you're still seeing them? For me, I saw a bunch of tiny ones pop up for months. It gave me no problems for growth, and my understanding is that it usually is because of growth spurts so it's completely positive. They always seemed to happen right before I saw some major change. Also, your sides look thinner in those photos because you have a flash on in your camera settings. That kind of flash held that close to anything with hair will always look much thinner than it is. The light power on that split second strobe flash is hotter than being in a baseball stadium. For my photos I took photos in my bathroom with top-light and no flash. It showed all of the detail in a realistic setting. Keep growin' and showin.

I have two friends who once they started shaving it all off, they looked much younger (just like you said you did) and got to move on with their life. They are both in their 40s but now look like they're in their 30s. I'm a long time concealer user myself and I went down the road of a hair transplant. I don't regret it but at the same time, I envy a simpler life of just bicking it all and calling it good that many guys have. Simple and easy. That's my recommendation for you, especially if you're socially not yourself anymore. Do the 30-day challenge of shaving it, get feedback from friends. 'Spanker' on this forum promotes this and I think it'd brilliant.

Those don't look like articles, they're color toned to be designated as ads. One even states it's an ad. So editorial ethics are already looking sketchy on that based on the images you've posted. Any other findings on google?

ApGomez - After reading through your post, I'd also recommend therapy as another consideration. In my opinion, everyone needs some therapy and getting a lot of this out to a trained professional could help significantly. There's emmense freedom in opening up to someone completely unbiased and unconnected to anyone in your life, completely trained and committed to you. My wife is a therapist so I'm naturally biased and a big believer in this. She also sees a therapist as well. There's a huge stigma in our culture away from therapy/counseling and it's too bad. We break our foot and we go to the doctor, but if we have emotional problems we're supposed to figure it out on our own. It's a sad predicament especially for men. I personally know the emotional damage hairloss has and continues to cause even after hair transplant surgery. I also have a close friend who had a roommate who ended his life last year, and it was after a successful hair transplant. I'm not presuming I know your head space or that your suicidal, but it goes to show that we end up believing we only need to beat our worse physical enemy, we can go without fixing our deeper emotional and therapeutic issues which are the root of continued pain.

I'd call your doctor to make sure. I emailed and called Dr. Konior's office a number of times with questions after the fact just for peace of mind. It's a shaky time for all of us, and you paid all this money so shey should be expected to be ready for quickly reply to any of your concerns, especially this soon after surgery.
