  1. I initially began with increased libido but in more recent days have experienced a notable decrease. I switched from 1.5 3x a week to .5/3x a week and still experienced. The majority of times I don't wake up with "morning wood" (don't know if I am experiencing it nocturnally or not), but this may be because I don't sleep that well and have a high amount of stress. Problem is that I stopped taking fin. for a while between switching and my libido exploded to an unbearable level (felt like I was 13 all over again). It's all tough to gauge. I also masturbate a burdensome amount (3x or more a day) so that may also be causing part of the problem.
  2. Mine seems to have stopped entirely now, I notice only a few hairs now when applying it. It would sometimes be as much as 10 during the shed.
  3. On a good note. I don't think your balding looks bad. If you were to keep your hair shaved, I think it would look good. I'm saying this honestly. Also, stop wearing a cap. It won't give you any real advantage. I know it's tempting, but the best thing to do is to embrace it and to learn to not focus on it, the hat only hides issues you know now especially that you will have to get over: without a hair transplant, at best you can do it stall it but the loss is inevitable.
  4. It's partially correct, fin hysteria has hit me a little. However, I am also increasingly uncomfortable with the idea of taking a pill for the rest of my life. I come from a family that has always valued all natural lifestyle, largely because I moved to the US and my family didn't experience the ritalin, anti-depressant, etc. etc. hysteria of the past few decades. The result has made me deeply suspicious of it. I know the hard reality: bear with it or ditch it and face the consequences. I honestly don't know if fin has been all that effective for me. I've been pretty irregular with its use (I dropped it for about a year or so and then started again on the MWF at 1.25 dosage). I may try to do the .5 MWF dosage and see where that takes me. I'm just wondering if there have been people here who have made the switch successfully.
  5. The thing is... I'm not sure if I have sides or if I'm just overdoing *some* things. The result has been too much anxiety and worry. I would rather not have to deal with it if necessary. I may get back on it soon enough, but I would much prefer to live without it.
  6. Being bald alone is also not the only issue, it tends to compound and overwhelm other feelings of inferiority. I'm balding but I am 6'5 with a strong muscular build. The result is that I do manage to attract women. Were I going Costanza, that would be another story. Balding alone is not the only factor. Truthfully though, as far as I can remember, I have never felt "comfortable" with my looks in general. Hairloss tends to compound those anxieties. The reason I don't blame women for hating on balding guys is that most men who are balding aren't thinking "Oh no! I'll be alone forever!" they're thinking "Oh no! I wont be able to tap that hot ass girl!"
  7. All I can say is: it gets better. If hairloss is the worst superficial thing to happen to you during your life, consider yourself lucky. It sucks, but its a process that effects millions upon millions of men, and most of whom will go through their lives normally. We men catch a big break in life, be aware of that. We can lose hair, gain an immense amount of weight, and yet still manage to be superficial and hold absurd standards that we can actually match with significant others (my father was practically bald when he married my mom, who, by all accounts, was far more attractive than he was). It's different for women. Be aware of that privilege and learn not to worry so much. The finality of it is what bothers us, and the sense of powerlessness to it also makes us cringe. We often treat it as worse than death because its happening as we speak. But, you will get over it. Why? Because once you leave your early 20s you'll realize that it becomes less and less of an issue. I was miserable in college. But now that I'm in the "real world", I'm finding that it just doesn't seem to effect me like it did in the past. I have actually gone on more dates since college than during my young years. Honestly, it sucks, a lot, but it will get easier. You will adjust. Like everything else in life, time will heal it and you will adjust and you will become the you that found it absurd that you ever cared so much. Hang in there and stop focusing on it. Anxiety and depression tend to feed on themselves and only grow as they swallow us deeper and deeper. Only you will have the power to control that.
  8. I'm also considering moving to .5mg daily. I currently do MWF, but I don't like that kind of instability with it. You have .5 once per week. How did you arrive at that?
  9. How many people have done it and managed to maintain their regrowth or halt continual hairloss. I'm asking this because I'm considering possibly ditching fin and just staying with minoxidil. A cousin of mine is on min alone and he has noticed some fantastic results from it (regained an immense amount of hair). I obviously don't rely on the idea that it will def. happen to me, but it has encouraged me to look at it as an alternative. What are people's recommendation?
  10. So it's mid April and while the shedding doesn't seem to be going on at the same rate as before, when I put in the foam at night I do notice a significant amount of hair on my hand. Is this normal for people? Also, how much foam do people use on their scalp during application?
  11. I havn't been particularly worried, just struck me as odd. Thanks though.
  12. Hey guys, I started taking minoxidil with my fin. (3x a week) in late Aug. I did not notice much shedding in the first few months, but I have noticed a very hefty amount of shedding now that I have reached my 7 month mark. I do notice that my hair seems much fuller than before, but it just seems strange to me that I have started so late. Most people seem to notice shedding much earlier, at the 3 month mark. Has anyone else experienced this?
  13. Noticing some small hairs growing on the front, particularly around the recession area. Also, I have been shedding recently. Nothing major, at least for now, maybe at the four month mark it will be more noticeable.
  14. I think an hour is probably enough for it to be absorbed. In the morning, I often workout very intensely at a very hot and humid boxing gym. I typically get around one hour worth of the application (which is basically how long it takes me to get to the gym) before the sweating seems to wipe away the application. I think that length should be fine. I am considering doing a buzz cut for the time being, at least until I get to notice to regrowth.
  15. My cousin uses a hair dryer after applying to help it dry. It is really helpful since after using it the foam is completely dried and you can shape your hair how you like. That way you don't have to wash it off but can keep it in all day if necessary.
  16. Thanks. I've been on it for about a month now generally twice a day but sometimes only once at night (If I am in a rush in the morning). My cousin had spectacular results from it. He was verging on a Norwood 5 or so (I mean he had barely any hair left on the top) and now has a head full of hair, after only about 4-5 months on it. It really is unbelievable. He is obviously beyond stoked at the development. I wish I had before and after photos to document it but while he was nearly bald he never took a photo without a hat. I'm hoping to get similar results, but my hair loss was far different from his (his was a total loss all around while mine has been an ever so slow progression through the past 6 years while his loss occurred over a year and a half or so, although it had been building before then). But anyway, I noticed that the 6 month amount seems to be going far faster for me. I'm only a month and two weeks or so in and I've used up 2 already. I guess its six months if you isolate the minoxidil to your vertex instead of putting it allover your hair as I do.
  17. Just to try and ascertain with some confidence as to how effective the claim that Rogaine regrows hair in front really is: How many here take Rogaine/Minoxidil? And how many of you taking it have noticed regrowth in on the front hair/receding hairline? Did it stop the recession? Did it make it thicker? Thank you!
  18. Of all the people here who have taken minoxidil, how many of you have experienced the whole bag/dark circle under eyes thing people talk about online?
  19. Been taking Proscar 1/4 pill EOD for the past year. I'm guessing it has slowed my hair loss significantly since I would be far deeper in my hair loss process by now I think. I am now starting monoxidil, hoping to see something from that, maybe some good amount of regrowth and thickening. Oh and no notable sexual side-effects. Admittedly, I am pretty young and quite active (I workout intensively 5-6 days a week). In fact, I would say my libido is in hyper drive. I have the *urge* come along quite often.
  20. I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on this? I don't really have the freedom to apply monoxidil liquid in the morning because of the very heavy residue that makes it impossible to make my hair normal. I would like to use the foam then because I've heard it is easier for it to dry but was considering using the liquid at night in order to really get some coverage that I heard is more difficult to get with the foam (which gets caught in the hair). What are people's thoughts on this? Cheers, Theo
  21. Hello all, I have been using finasteride for quite some time and am now considering adding monoxidil to the mix. I do not like the idea of having to spend so much time with it (I have a very rush rush morning). Ideally, I wouldn't mind using it only at night but I was wondering if once a day instead of the recommended twice daily could make it work? Thanks!
