  1. Well, I hope the conclusions are true, but the arguments around the issue of system absorption/side effects seem to be going back and forth and only experience will say whether it does.
  2. You have to get an online perscription from the medical wellness center and then order it from Murray Avenue Apothecary. Also, for some reason it tells me to use it in the morning, but I feel like at night would be ideal since I don't want to have to style around it. Either way, I'll see how it works over the next few months.
  3. I stopped a year ago. Wasn't really experiencing sides, just don't like the idea of using pills for long term. I was going to go back on fin and then heard of this. There are instructions but they just say to spay on "effected area", which is a bit vague. I'll keep people updated.
  4. Hey guys. So I was wondering, if anyone is on it: I ordered topical fin from Murray Avenue Apothecary. It looks like it is supposed to be sprayed on. I was wondering what the best method for spraying is and how much do you guys spray? There seems to be little information about how much to apply from what they sent me.
  5. I thought topical fin enters the blood stream just like the pill? In any case? I've been trying to find some online, can you direct me to what you are talking about?
  6. Happy to say that I'm in NYC, and so there are a host of different docs here. I was fairly convinced about going for FUE since I usually keep my side hair short at around a 2/3, but am now considering having FUT for my first and then maybe fixing up the scar area with FUE in the future. (admittedly, the following has nothing to do with the topic here and is more of a reflection about this generally) I have to admit, the lack of clear roads with regard to hair transplants and hair loss generally is probably one of the hardest things to deal with as a hair loss sufferer.
  7. Lastly, for generics it's a non-starter: they are pretty much the same in the vast vast majority of cases. In fact, there is a problem in the US that many people assume that generics are not as effective and so many then push for the more expensive drug. This is then born out in higher health insurance premiums/increased medicare costs, since they are the ones that cover the difference. This is obviously not an issue with propecia, but it is for other medication covered by insurance/medicare. PS: I'm an ex-fin user... so I have so reason to rationalize anything.
  8. Honestly, internet testimony is one of the worst possible sources to rely on.
  9. Without going into the merits of the claim that the drug causes more side-effects than is currently admitted (likely true, but hard to determine with claims such as "depression", which is more than just feeling down and out), that Mens Health article is pretty bad. It is very short, it doesn't go into any real detail into the particular doubts of the doctors. Add to this the fact that the writer is not exactly a well known one (there like 5 articles total that they have penned). Where is the trial taking place? if it's in the US, it may be a sign of confidence on the part of the manufacturer that they are going to court at all. The vast majority of law suits like this end in settlement, even if the defendant/company sued thinks they are right or they can win. If it's in the US, juries tend to be very pro-plaintiff, since they are usually individuals or "small people" going against "big companies", and also award very high . As a result, most companies will just settle out of court with a small stipulation that they don't have to admit any wrong doing (for liability issues).
  10. Some people have stated that they believe that younger patients who are experiencing "aggressive hairloss" would be advised to avoid FUE and opt for FUT instead, with the idea of having greater yield. I am currently 28 and headed for a I am now deep within NW3(with the vortex increasingly thinning). As such, while I am not 24 and at a NW5, I was wondering what people thought regarding what qualifies as "young" and "aggressive". I know that this is all very subjective, but I was looking for some consensus.
  11. That's interesting because in another thread, there was talk of Erdogan relying heavily on techs. What would be the cut-off where you would consider a clinic to become a "tech clinic"?
  12. Apologies for derailing the thread. This thread pretty much addressed the exact issue I've been concerned with over the past several years as I considered a transplant.
  13. I am headed to an N3 at this time, at 28, losing hair since around 18/19. I was wondering what people's thoughts were regarding this? I am planning on my first HT next year, at around 2.5-3k. I don't expect to look like the old me, obviously, but just having a reconstructed hairline at a safe distance would be fine. Even a somewhat receded look with some more density would be fine by me as I head into my 30s (maintaining something like this http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MawkdJvUp-s/TkrcBeyXTlI/AAAAAAAABJY/BUtZzqO9DDY/s1600/patrick-wilson__oPt.jpg). Is this not conservative enough? I never realized how much variance there was in hair loss. A cousin of mine began losing his hair far later than me, but became like a norwood 5 in barely a year or two. I was quite unreal.
  14. I was looking at Erdogan (http://www.hairtransplantfue.org/asmed-hair-transplant-result/) at the moment, and his results seemed really good. Could you explain the highlighted part? I don't quite understand what chances you weren't ready to take?
  15. I have been informed that this is a recent hotspot for hair transplants that are affordable. As with anything affordable: I am worried about quality. I was wondering what some who have had experiences with it would say about the whole experience? I've looked at before and after photos at a few places, and they seem good, but I was looking for a general perspective. Thanks!
  16. I'm probably going to go on it again, since I now started to see fast shedding to indicate that my hairloss is returning. To tell you the truth: (1) I quit my job and started law school, which hurt my expenses; (2) I got a bit worried since I wasn't getting normal morning erections and I felt like it was bit harder to maintain one; and (3) quite honestly, the thought of taking a pill for the rest of my days kind of scares me. I'm going to go on it again, on a controlled 1mg every other day at first and see how I feel after a few months. I would say, though, that sides can creep up slowly and may be hard to feel. It wasn't until after stopping for a month that I noticed. Admittedly, though, I've realized that my libido is almost childish in how overactive it is now, so marginal drop again wouldn't be such a bad thing.
  17. How many of the people here who say that they have no sides do not wake up with morning erections? I stopped taking fin about a year ago. I wasn't having notable sides, but I did notice that within a month after stopping my morning erection came back and my libido soared to levels I had no experienced in over a year (took it for two). It's hard to measure if you are or if you're not having sides, I think. They can creep up slowly over time. I could still have sex while on fin, but I realize now that it is much much easier than before.
  18. The website is selling finasteride purchased from manufacturers in India. I would like to purchase some, but I am wondering if people have had good experiences with it. ProgressiveRx
  19. A few questions: 1) What would it be called here? 2) Where would I be able to find it? Asking since I ran out and don't really know what pharmacies offer it.
  20. So, I guess there is no way to get this in the US? I would love to go back on Fin.
  21. I started propecia before minox but it was the minox that really added new hairs that I had lost. I noticed it even at the front, where small hairs started to grow. I have stopped fin due to some sides. I will say though, not my experience, but my cousin's experience was incredible. He started taking minox when his hair had thinned very quickly and incredibly (he was losing his hair without recession, it was hairloss all over) and he pretty much regrew a thick head of hair. I wish he had taken pics because he could have been used for a Rogain commercial and gotten paid or something. It was seriously unbelievable. He still has a lot of hair and uses no fin.
  22. "i would never get chemo for cancer; never take a vaccine;" See, this is where the legitimate concern about big pharma turns to the crazy end. You should be getting vaccinated... if not for your own sake, for the sake of others around you.
  23. See a doctor. But difficulty in getting and maintaining them coupled with lack of morning erections points to a physiological reason, which is likely to be from the pill. I went through something similar. Stop for a month and see what happens. I started getting morning erections again within a month and a half of quitting. The problem I have with the 2% claim of the test is that the time we spend on the drug is considerably longer than the tests, and I think that really makes it hard to determine the actual number.
  24. I think that people should look at whether or not they have morning erections. I stopped a few months ago and in the last few weeks I noticed a huge upsurge in my libido as well as the return of morning erections. These are the two most notables. I also experienced weight loss, but I think that's just a correlation thing since my diet has improved. Still, the fact that I had a testosterone inhibitor in my body allowing estrogen levels to rise certainly may have played a part. But I think the best determiner of side effects is to see how many men lose their morning erections. It's not a universal thing, not all men get them at some point and their degree varies. But if you had strong ones and suddenly lost them almost entirely, that's a sure sign. I could still maintain erections, and had relations and an active libido, but I would say that since stopping it's been a huge increase. Funny enough, I don't know if it's even a positive increase...
