That side on, dry hair picture looks as though the front forelock is minaturising. To me it sounds like the doc wants to work around the perimeter of it and not in between as you suggested. I guess youre not that old. 30 ish? Probably better to air on the conservative side at this stage. You will probably need another HT in 10-15 years anyway, if not sooner. The crown just isnt thin enough to make the risk/reward ratio viable.

He has genetic hairloss on the Ludwig scale, which is normally most common in women but does appear from time to time on men. It is characterised by a persistent hairline but with loss behind it.

It could be in the 2500 range, even close to 3000. Best way to estimate is to try to calculate the density in a 1cm square and multiply it by the approximate area. I look at the picture and think the U shape could be 20cm long and have an average width of 3cm. If the density is 50 then: 20 x 3 x 50 = 3000

One thing I did notice is that he doesn't really have to do anything apart from the surgery itself. The techs literally put everything on a plate for him, so he can enter the room, do his stuff, then take a break to look at his emails or whatever...then back in the room and everything is ready to go immediately once he's scrubbed up. So there's not really any heavy lifting involved as the logistics are done by others.

Back in 2014 he invited me to observe him perform a strip surgery (I was in the US on vacation and made a stop off on my return journey). He makes the incisions one at a time while one tech (usually Lisa, but no idea if others do now) implants a graft. Another tech is providing the grafts. As it was a strip case there was at least another 2, maybe 3 techs cutting the strip and assiting with dressings, surgical tools, monitoring etc.

Yeah it is not the best design. Those temple closures where it swoops down never look great.

As long as grafted areas do not rub at pressure against the pillow for the first 3-4 days. The grafts are quite well anchored after that.

His pal Gordon Ramsay was pictured coming out of the Armani Clinic (Beverley Hills) years ago, then pictured a day or two after with DB. Purely a hunch but he could have gone there. More than likely he would have paid $$$$$ to have it done at one of his homes, to avoid any chance of being papped.

They want you to sleep at an angle on your back to help drain any swelling downwards away from your head. This also limits the chances of rolling over too much and snagging any grafts on the bed linen. I just used a load of hotel pillows to position myself at about a 30 degree angle and also wore a travel neck pillow. I didnt have much trouble sleeping that way due to jet lag. In this position you can also position yourself a bit on your side as well if that's more comfortable.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a 'no risk' surgery. All you are seeing are the ones that turned out good. No doctor will voluteer to tell you of the bad ones where only 20% of 5000 grafts actually grew.

There's an experienced guy in Las Vegas who used to be recommended here: Dr Joseph Williams. I think he just decided to end being a member as I don't think there was any dramas that led to his removal. He could be worth looking at.
