  1. Sounds like you are dissapointed - but I have learned sometimes dissapointment ends up being "thanks god that worked out that way". I have zero experience, except common sense - I would speak to only the "known" best and then decide on the best move.
  2. All I can say is tread carefully, absolutely and especially if going to eg Thailand - must be additionall risk, albeit cheaper - watch out and be absolutely sure! It may well be the case that he is just as good but cheaper, but then again, do not make the mistake of thinking everywhere in the world operates and runs the same as UK, US, Australia, NZ etc etc - don't mean to be negative, but I would have to be "extra" sure before going out of the norm.
  3. Thanks mate. Funny, the truth is that one of the reasons on the decision pendulum 20 yrs ago for not opting for a HT (although the main reason was that I simply did not trust any of the surgeons at the time) was that I thought on balance there would surely be a remedy in 5 to 10 years - yet despite undoubted incredible information share ability and availability on demand, we have still had very slow progress ???
  4. Yes will definately sytick around and share my final decison and progress if that it is what is ultimately decided. Just a shame they still have not figured out how to clone - I really thought 15 years ago with advent of computer and massive communications development that the medical world leap forward???
  5. Thanks again for that. Although I get the feeling that just perhaps there may be a possibilty that a good and successful HT could be carried out, the aftermath worries me in that if I need to cut my hair short again (2 or 3mm) would the smiley face scar at the back and the transplant scars at the front be highly visible for ever. Obviously the only reason I would have to shave my hair short again down to that 3mm would be if perhaps the transplanted hair decided to stop growing or whatever in 10 years or so or perhaps my hairline at the back receded down to a narow band over the next 15 years - hence it might look daft having transplanted hair at the top growing then a big distance down the back to the narrow band (if that is what happened). So, the shaving down to 3mm would be the "get out of jail card" - unless it revealed tell tale scars, what do you guys think, is this something that has been discussed???
  6. Thanks for the information. Yeah, Harley St in London - though I live in Australia. I travelled back for the consult though had nagging doubts from the outset. Thanks again mate.
  7. Hello all. Can I ask all those experienced travellers out there what the longterm aftermath of a HT is....? I will follow for now the recommended suggested list of "the very best surgeons" (Shapiro Mediical Group, Hassan & Wong, Dr. Konior, Dr. Gabel, True & Dorin, Dr. Feller, Dr. Lindsey, Dr. Arocha and Dr. Raha). However, assuming I was able to find a trully good and moral surgeon that completed a good and natural HT, what are the future ramifications for an existing person at scale 5 or 6 in relation to: - How bad is the scar at the back of the head and I guess it remains forever? Presumably the scar remains like a "smiley face" forever? Presumably I could never cut my hair shorter at the back than say, 10mm? - The reason I ask about whether I could cut/shave my hair again down to 2 or 3mm is if there was any issue with the grafted hair on top perhaps deciding (in the long term) to stop growing, or some other unforseen or unexpected occurrence. Or perhaps the hair at the back of my head continuing to recede down - you know, almost down to a narrow band at the back of the head - hence would look daft with having hair at front and top of head then big gap down to the narrow band at the bottom of head? - In addition to the scar from the donor area, are their longterm scars where the transplanted hair is inserted and hence could similarly never again cut short the transplanted hair if necessary? Have not come accross any mention of the above topic on the very informative forum, hence if there is anyone out there with that knowledge, it would be hugely appreciated.
  8. Apolgies, I have to correct the above name at Blackrock, it was actually Mr Collins that I attended a consultation with, as opposed to the incorrect name of Maurice Green.
  9. Thanks for that. To be absolutely honest I had reached that decision myself after an expensive (250) consultation with Maurice Green of Blackrock in his rented Harley St. room. Similar alarm bells (or sirens I should say) were going off in my head to those I heard when originally looking into the worrying and frankly (in my experience) dangerous world of HT some 20 odd years ago. When statements such as "I thought you were 63 not 43" (despite for the first time since 21, actually looking my age) and "have you ever noticed that when the odd American Baseball player removes his hat, you just can not take your eye off his bald head" and "you are a very bald man". Of course, whilst laughing under my breath at the comments, I was dissapointed that clearly the HT world is as treacherous as ever - as obviously the comments were designed to prey on any cognitive or esteem vulnerability I may have and therefore hopefully accept a E25,000 HT surgery. For any of those out there that have actually had successful HT treatments and dealt with genuinely good people who are not simply seeking a fortune, I would hugely appreciate absolutely honest comment on where to explore (internationally) and if there really and genuinely is a successful and "natural" result to be attained and for a patient probably at the level of 6.
  10. Thanks Dutch, excuse me but not sure who the abbreviation "H&W" stand for? I have come accross (guess because he did - I believe - ???? Nesbitt Murphy's Law) Maurice Green I think his name was at Blackrock in Ireland - any thoughts? I did actually consider trying to find the best in the US as plan to spend some time over there anyway. Thanks again.
  11. Thanks for that - much appreciated. I guess my issue is that I am extremely sceptical and if I am to end up going with HT I am going to have to be positive about the calibre of the individual doing the process. As you will all know, this sector is full of charletans and although I certainly did a huge amount of research back in the late 80's and 90's (I started seriously losing my hair at 19 & fast), I just could not believe any of the surgeons etc that I spoke to at the time in the UK etc (numerous), I had even tracked down the supposed best at the time in France (I believe he did celebrities such as David Frost) but again was not convinced at all at the time, that I would not end up with an unrealistic disaster making things even worse - I think it was the right call in those days and really thankful that I listened to my better judgement and instead settled for the very early days of Finasteride and Minoxidil that whilst slows the process does not stop it where over the course of 20 years I (personally) am probably only slighter better than I would have been - however would have got to stage 6 probably doubly as quick. Are modern day HT's really success stories now with trustworthy and "decent" surgeons? Thanks again.
  12. Hi, first time on - hope I have done everything correctly? I wondered if there might perhaps be a handfull of US surgeons that are pretty much accepted as the very best - does anyone know? Would hugely appreciate any advice, thanks again.
