  1. I spoke with one of the top five HT refined surgeons in the country regarding this. He stated simply that it was most likely 8 to ten years away. All the more reason to be conservative with your donor site as the technology advances.
  2. You're not alone. I had that many procedures before finally getting refined work. The real element of failure is the breakdown of trust. People inherently TrusT doctors which is a major mistake many of us make in life. Dont give up. You can look better now, with the technology available no matter what your situation.
  3. Lol, you mentioned Johnny Depp, but he's HAD a hair transplant in the frontal region which was quite effective. Good ones: McConahey, Slater, Clooney, Damon, Bad: Cage (density issues), caan (needs to let it go gray), ok: billy crystal, letterman, biden, sting, fraser, kimmel????, wigs: travolta, affleck, billy bob thornton recent: burt reynolds, elton john. They may wear systems in the back so hard to tell --....about one third of all famous guys in movies and films have had work. Before and after pictures dont lie. More hair? HT.
  4. Yup. Anytime you see thinning and then thickening that doesnt look like a weave, then its a transplant. Celeb plants are easy to spot from film to film. Carell was using a darkening agent in the early seasons, but had work done after season two. It thickened right up, and he was able to start styling it differently as well.
  5. 100 years ago physicians and attorneys were the most trusted professions. Now, the least trusted.
  6. For some reason i developed an interest in HT as a subject beyond just my own results. also, guys need encouragement if they get sub par results, end up haggling with doctors, get ripped off, or are just worrying due to slow growth. A vet can lend a helping hand.
  7. Nothing to worry about! In fact, you've got some built in advantages: 1. People expect mid age men to have thinner hair! You can recess your hairline and get good coverage over a small area and look perfectly fine. 2. Gray/silver hair is the best color for tranplanted hair in contrast against the scalp. 3. Dont worry about the crown. Get one procedure in the front, and youre set, no more sessions needed. 4. from what you've said you've got a virgin scalp so youre in good shape. If you'd gone bald earlier, you'd probably have bad hair plugs.
  8. If you can take a six hour trip or so, go see dr. cooley in Charlotte. I recommend NOT consulting with Dr. Wolf in Cincinnati. My personal opinion based on experience. Send your photos to Dr. Hasson in Vancouver. Do an online consult.
  9. Do the front right away and worry about the crown later. Take a couple weeks off work. You can get everything filled in and completed later, but the longer you go around bald, the bigger deal its gonna be when you get the HT
  10. Dont do it. The work dinner will be quickly forgotten, but if you show up looking gruesome theyre going to be talking about if for a long time to come. Prudence better than regret. Make up a good excuse ahead of time. A family obligation in another town is good.
  11. This is sort of a loaded question. As far as recieving a percentage of your density by a certain time, the problem is that the hairs are not grown out to full length. Your density comes from thick packing, and by hair length. This is why modern work is so good for guys with very thin individual hairs. They cannot achieve density with growing the hair long so they need thick packing. Its another reason that hair styling really matters for certain people. By combing the hair straight back or even getting a perm, you get more density by growing the hairs out to max length.
  12. Unfortunately it grows as programmed in the DNA and looks like it would on the horseshoe. One exception, ive heard, is body hair plants which they are able to get to grow out rather than stop at the normal body hair length. Not sure how this works. The horseshoe hair is a little thicker, coarser, and wilder looking. Nic Cage has some problems with his HT because the hairs look especially coarse. His Fue has caused serious density problems
  13. Can we see pics? Im glad you had a good result. We've seen someone here with a very bad result. Epstein has resisted satisfying the exceptionally bad work with irish lad, its obvious from pictures that he tried to rip him off regarding density.
  14. Are you able to travel? Dr. Hasson in Vancouver is my recommendation.
  15. Dont give it another thought. Whether you go to Rahal or Hasson (who id recommend based on his megasessions) its a matter of jumping on a plane, and a few hours later being in a hotel. Think of it as a vacation. Take seven days off. After a couple days you can get up and walk the city, catch a movie, enjoy some nice dinners. Get some sleep in the hotel, and camp out in front of the tv. Seven days is no big deal. You'll be refreshed and confident in knowing that in six months your life will be transformed. What could be better?
  16. Why wait until you are significantly bald and then have an obvious procedure performed which interrupts your life so much.....like most of us here have to do? Your concern would be a legitimate one in the old days of hack doctors. But with refined work, no matter what your eventual loss pattern, much better to have a session with a conservative design in light of your likely loss pattern now.
  17. Maybe I'm in the minority and slipped through the cracks. I've NEVER had a HT doctor mention style as a critical factor. When it comes to the "illusion" of density, style is everything. I mean everything. The first thing to consider is age, lifestyle, hair color, hair density, occupation, and on and on. If a guy has limited donor and thin hair, then combed straight back or diagonally back is the absolute best way to go. You get to grow the hairs longer and you remove wind as an environmental concern (riding on a motorcycle for example or going boating) because the hair is blown straight back. Most people never think about this stuff in advance. If you look good in a perm, you can literally easily double or triple your density by letting the hair grow way out and curling it. If a guy only looks good in bangs because he has a very broad forehead, then you may be looking at a situation where the crown thinning is left alone and you concentrate on getting some thickness in the middle of the head to comb down. If you have unusually dark hair you want to comb sideways, you may want a thinner and more recessed hairline. If you're satisfied with silver gray hair, one procedure is infinitely easier to accomplish your goals. If you're out in the sun in a bare head its another matter altogether. Im glad your doctor mentioned hairstyle, but I'd have to say that he should have a consultant locally who can recommend the best alternative. Most guys have no clue what they look good in....or for that matter. what they want to look like when they turn 40, 50, 60, 70 and so on.
  18. Id consult with cooley and do a backup with Hasson. Dont make your decision based on geography. If youre adventurous, go see rahal or feller for third or fourths. Edmund Griffin in Atlanta is a short car trip as well.
  19. Yes, the ability to style it however you want is a noble goal, but id have to say there are very few people who are going to achive that sort of density. Many guys have inadequate donor, repair jobs, thin hair, a large head, a pale scalp, or just really dark hair that doesnt blend. So my point that keeping an eventual hair style in mind from the BEGINNING at least seems valid to me. Did you physician discuss this with you? I hate to sound cynical, but i think there is a reason most of them dont.
  20. we've all had experiences exactly like yours. To tell you the truth, youre lucky you didnt have your hair yet. Character is revealed, and you avoid wasting time and money. Anyway she no doubt will end up with a worthless playa' who will cheat on her as she gets uglier.
  21. Dr. Cooley is a dermatological surgeon who does derm surgeries and other stuff. He also as far as i know knows about hair current research. If you get to NC on business, he's probably the way to go.
  22. lol, well, not to insult anyone, but theres always the response "and you're much too young to be so fat"
  23. Sounds great. I wish i could do lasic, but according to my optomestrist im not a candidate.
  24. On a related topic, I imagine that elite coalition doctors with a rep make SO much money that they can legitimately contemplate retirement within fiteen years. So I suspect that the bad economy is a scary deal for these guys. Lets face it, its an upscale market and the prospect of a depression has to scare some of them to death with large staffs and huge over head. Well, not to feel too sorry for them because if they have any financial sense at all, they're set for life barring one of their wives trying to gold dig his money and cut him loose to support her in luxury while she lives like a queen and he busts his hump every day. I imagine these guys choose their wives VERY carefully.
