  1. Awesome work from Dr. Charles. This story really touched me and I wish Alex all the best. He survived the cancer and got his life back and I am hopeful that he will get his hair back. Just our of curiosity, can we know how many grafts were implanted and what norwood level alex is in? Wish the best result for alex
  2. Hello Thanatopsis I cannot thank you enough for such detailed explanations. I totally agree with you 100% !! I will personally go see few people who had BHT/FUE done (there are on this site) so can see the results myself. I hope they will have the free time. will definitely keep you posted on what I think of BHT Again I am not big fan of FUT only because of the scar, however you are right I will speak to some world class doctor about FUT. Regards, Ryan
  3. Hello Thanatopsis All your questions are valid and I appreciate your concern and I dont think that you are trying to sell me a doctor or clinic. What I do think is that you are trying to say FUT is better than FUE (assuming there was no scar in both). I have done lots of research on this and its definitely debatable but my conclusion would be that if I choose the right FUE surgeon I would be able to acheive the same results as if I had done an FUT. Do you agree or am I thinking wrong? 6000 to 9000 grafts, I mean Dr. Umar is one of the only doctor I have found that does suregery with such magnitude. I have posted a video of someone who received 15000 grafts in one surgery which probabaly lasted a week. So I guess it is possible, what do you think of the below video? I am taking all my savings to go and commited to achieve my goal at any cost but at the same time with an open mind and outting all my emotions aside. Thats why I have chosen a unique doctor that can perform such high number of grafts. Hasson and Wong never do above 4500 grafts. and I honestly dont still understand why most good surgeons dont go above 4500 and Dr. Umar seemed to be going way above it and getting good results. Cheers Aaron, who you talking about?
  4. Dear Thanatopsis, Wow that was one hell of an explanation and I thank you for taking your time. I am very familiar with Hasson and Wong work, but there are few things that made me decide to go with Dr. Umar. 1. I have been worrying about my hair for so long and now I dont want to worry about a scar, this is why I have chosen Dr. Umar since hasson dont do FUE 2. I dont have a virgin Scalp, because I wear a hair system I have to shave my head, so Dr. Umar suggested if I grow my hair for three months he will be able to graft the hair around my exisitng hair so more like a dense packing and create a new hairline 3. I have given him permission to target 10,000 grafts but he said he might stop at 8,000 or so to avoid any shockloss. He will use as much hair he can from my Scalp and maybe around 1,000 to 2,000 from beard. 4. As for crystal, consistent result, I 100% agree with you abour Hasson but Dr. Umar has recently come out with great result and they seemed to be consistent work. 5. Yes he said that I will get average 50cm2 density all around my head which is around Norwood 0 to 1, if I am not mistaken. However I am aware that I will not get the same density as I did when I was 18 or as my hair peice. But since I am doing many grafts using body hair, I hope to achieve the best. Do you think the 4000 grafts from Hasson will be a better option than my plan? 6. Again he said my case is very special and noone had my kind of goal so my surgery will be unique on many aspects I tried to express my thoughts, however if you think anything I said is wrong or that I should do more research on what I am saying please feel free to say and I would be more than happy to start thinking of other options. Best regards, Ryan
  5. Hi Alanrudy, its better to contact them directly as they have different prices if you are willing to have your picture or video taken.
  6. Hello All, I would like to wish you all a very happy new year and propersous 2012 and with loads of hair I have finally consulated with Dr. Umar in person and he was quite shocked to see me in person that I have so much hair left. I always thought I was norwood 6 even most top notch doctors who I had sent my pictures said the same but he belives i am norwood 3 to 4 after seeing me in real life. I giuess the pictures were not clear enough since I am using hairpiece so you cannot see a reall growth there. WE have agreed to do the surgery sometimes in June 1. I have been on proscar since October 11 and so far I have not seen any effect on my beard of body hair. I will however continue taking proscar and keep the remaining hair and hopefully grow some more since the hairpeice might have casue some to fall 2. He has told me that I will only need one surgery (opposed to original plan which was communicated through emails) and I have allowed him to go up to 10000 grafts using hair and beard starting from front line all the way to crown. He said there is a chance that we might do 8000 as he does not want to put hair on top of exisiting hair but I told him you are free to put as many numbers as you wish. 3. After this surgery, he reckon I will have zero recession so back to norwood zero. However since I am young I will have to see him probably in 4 or 5 years. I would appareciate your expert opnions as I would like to make sure I am making the right decision. Best regards, Ryan
  7. Azazlegs and moopookoo I will post my body hair, beard pictures by end of this week for you to have an idea
  8. Dear Jotronic, Thank you so much for the information, I really really appreciate it and thank you for watching out for people on this forum. I am going to answer all of your question: 1. My main goal is natural hair, I understand where you coming from. I understand that body hair will never be like head hair, so in my first procedure I will only use my headhair around 7 to 8000 grafts hopefully and then later I will use the body hair to add density. I am still thinking whether I should do my first surgery (Just like Azazelgs have metnioned) to do with H&W or Rahal using FUT for FUE and then later go to Dr. Umar and add density using body hair. I am still not sure but I would like to go through this journey with one doctor (the best for me) all the way. 2. I am onm Proscar so will have to wait few more month to see if it will effect my body hair. I will not use nape hair. Dr. Umar has told me that he has not witnessed any change in growth in his patients who are on proscar, however he told me to be on the safe side stay on it for few months and then we will see if it effects your body hair 3. I am already norwood 6, so I have lost a lot of hair. Please note that I lost all my hair because I starfted wearing hair piece at age 21. If I had been on Proscar, I seriously think I would have not been where I am. All memebers of my family/relatives have full head of hair. I really dont understand this question as this can apply to everyone. I wish I was on this Forum then and people like you and some other who have been helpful would have stopped me from wearing hair piece becasue I was just looking at the photos, I was almost norwood 2 when I started wearing hairpiece. 4. I have not seen a BHT result in person and I will NEVER do it before seeing one in person. I was supposed to meet someone two weeks ago, however because of his tight schedule with work he could not make it. I will meet him probably end decemeber. 5. Yes I am aware it will take 1 week, but again I have done lots of research and seen Dr. Umars work where has done these mega sessions and turned out to be successful. Jotronic, Again I thank you for your post. Your questions are valid and I would say: it is because of your questions that I have been asking my self is the reason why I have not done the surgery. Can you PM your email as I would like to discuss few things regarding strip with H&W. I have contacted H&W before but no respond. You mentioned that BHT has approximately 30% to 50% yield in the best of cases. You are an expert and I apologies for me saying this as I am sure you do know better than me. I have seen cases from different clinicss and research were the survival rate has been 70 to 80%. I would NEVER do BHT if I knew it is only 30% to 50%. There is a gentleman on this Forum Hairtoday and he did his procedure using body hair and almost 70 to 80% grew back. Can you please clarify or am I mistaken. Best regards, Ryan
  9. Hello Friends, Its been few weeks since I last wrote on this particular forum. I would like to firstly thank all of you for being honest with me and sharing your reserach and expereince with me. If it wasnt for you people, I would have probably been butchered. My option is still with Dr. Umar, I am seeing him coming December for a consultation face to face as I need to be 100% sure with what I am getting myself into. I have been however consulting and researching with different surgeons out there, I will keep you all posted once I have solid answer. The way I see it is that research and finding the doctor is 90% of getting my hair back. I have uploaded a new album and shows my hair 1.5 inch long. Please note that I have shaved the edges as I wear a hair piece. Please feel free to give me your opinion about the new pictures. I am on proscar now, taking 1.25mg on daily basis thanks to people recommending on this forum. I have not yet seen any side effects or cosmetic changes> too early anways but I feel I will benefit. I would like to share an expereince with all of you. when I started wearing a hairprice, I was only 22 years old, I had lots of hair on my head norwood 3 max, I am sure I could have pulled off with short hair but Id rather went and shaved my head and wore a hair peice becasue the sales man was only thinking about his commission. Last week when I was at my service in the salon, I saw someone 21 years old for hair peice consultation and the person had so much hair on his head. He was just desperate becasue he had lost a bit of hair. I waited outside the Saloon for him to finish and I think I managed to change his mind about the hair piece and clamed him down. I wish I never wore a hairpeice, even though it has helped me a lot with my love life but at the end its not my hair and I had LOTs of hair. I persoanlly think that hair peice is good for people at norwood 5 to 7 level. for the people who are at norwood 2 or 3 please do NOT wear a hairpiece. Anyways I am planning to continue wearing my hair pience untill I do a hair trasnplant regardless of how long it takes. Please look at my new pictures and tell me what you guys think. Appreciatite your responses and wish you all the best Ryan
  10. Hi Wylie, Cant wait for your pictures. and it would be great for this community if you posted your before pictures aswell. Cardel 25, I agree with most of the things you are saying and yes research research. I am super glad that minox or prophecia has worked greatly on you and I am sure it continues. In mycase I cant use prophecia or any sort of drugs because it will effect the growth of beard and body hair since I have limited donor I do not wish to risk it. Anyways some might say that still better to use the drugs and do a strip - but I have just given up on all sort of drugs as I spent so much money from age 19 - 23 with no results. Its a shame that Dr. hasson doesnt do FUE but I dont think i can live with a scar. To be frank this is just me. Again thank you for reminding me on Dr. rahal and Hasson. I am under no circumstances going for a strip, rather be bald than have a scar. I have already emailed Dr. Rahal so hope I can get some good news. I also saw that you mentioned that you dont think Dr. Umar is master of blending different sorts of hair. Would you be kind enough and give your opinion on who you think is the best? if you wish you can PM me. I would really appreciate it As for my personal experience with Dr. Umar, I dont think him recommending mega sessions is unethical since my case is severe. Many good names have rejected me (dr. farjo) just because they do not do mega sessions and they think I would need 10000 or even 15000 so I am happy Dr. Umar offers mega sessions. I have been researching everyday to find an unhappy client for Dr. Umar. Looks like they have been some critisim in year 2008 or 2009 however nothing post 2010. or am i doing something wrong? Anyways he has suggested below. Option 1. 1. 8000 grafts (max) for frontal 2. 8000 grafts (max) for crown after 6 months Option 2. 1. 8000 grafts for both frontal and crown 2. 8000 Grafts for both frotnal and crown after 10 months or one year However the numbers are not confirmed yet since he has requested me to grow my hair for past three weeks and he will be able to asses more accurate figures. I will get the exact numbers aftert he week Will keep you all posted. Thanks
  11. Hi Wylie Thank you for your kind comments. I have no doubt and you are right Dr. Umar is one of the greatest out there. Do you have any before and after picture? I also clicked on your hairloss website and it directed me to Dr. Umars clinic website???!!!!
  12. Hi - does anyone know a good saloon for hair system maintenace in London? I will be going there for 2 months and need to do the service every two weeks. I would appreciate it if someone could suggest a good salon Thanks
  13. Hey dude - you are born in 1989 and you have hair, you are quite young and very early stage to consider an HT. I am no expert but many people on this site are against people who go for early HT at such young age. Anyways good job for starting your research now - you will need some good few months or a year to understand and hav a clear idea of what to expect and then you can be your judge. About number of grafts cant really help - there are many other experienced people here who can maybe advise you.
