  1. I was once in a similar predicament as yourself, hair loss had a big impact on my self confidence. At 34 I just wasn't ready to lose my hair, I don't have a great profile so being bald was not going to be pretty. So naturally I wanted to try everything to stop losing my hair. However, I'm a medical scientist so I know better than to try medications that are not supported by independent scientific studies to prove their results. I found that very few hair loss 'solutions' had such data to back up their explosive findings. In particular, I found laser therapy to be the biggest hoax, there is no scientific evidence that this works, at all. Finesteride drug has a fair amount of data and can work on some people, but like all drugs it has side effects that you need to consider. In the end (3 years later) I gave up everything and researched Hair Transplants. In the meantime I was using Nanogen hair fibres to hide my balding melon, which worked well enough. But the more I looked, the more evidence I found from testimonials that Hair Transplant is the only permanent fix for a see-thru scalp. 2 weeks ago I had my first full Hair Transplant in Bangkok. Best decision I ever made and well worth the money; more than half the price in Thailand than in Australia and I had a very professional and positive experience so far. Can't wait for 1 year when my new hair is growing strong. Check out my pics.

  3. I've been considering a HT for a few years now and I am now considering doing so later this year. Last year I was quoted as needing about 250,000 grafts by a leading Thai FUE specialist (Dr Pathomovich). However, since then my 'widows peak' is getting larger and beginning to show signs I might go much balder than I thought. So with this in mind I'm not sure it's worth having the front part of the head done because I may need more procedures as the balding gets worse and its going to end up an expensive job over many years. My question is; how many FUE's can 2 person have? Because its my understanding that there is only 1 donor area. So if I go much balder I could get in the situation where the front of my head will be fine (post FUE's) but the top and the crown is bald because I have run out of donor hair area. Any ideas?
  4. Thanks for the replies everyone. I had made an enquiry to Bumrungrad and Dr Pathomovich was the recommended doctor. Regarding the operation, how many grafts do you think a person with moderate 'widows peak' balding pattern at the front of the forehead only would require? The following is a price guide from Bumrungrad: The regular cost is 120 Thai Baht (TB) per graft, although a scaling discount applies for procedures requiring a large number of grafts: Total Number of Grafts Cost per Graft (TB) Total Cost (TB) 500 - 1,499 120 60,000 - 179,880 1,500 - 1,599 110 165,000 - 175,890 1,600 - 3,000 100 160,000 – 300,000 3,001+ 100 300,100+ I will get assessment from the Doctor but I just wanted a 2nd opinion. See photos attached.
  5. Looking for experiences from Thailand, especially Bumrungrad Hospital. I'm from Australia so Thailand is a much cheaper option.
