  1. I noticed in some of your posts you mentioned that more Testosterone does not equal more DHT. Out of curiousity where did you get that information? The reason i ask is this. Finasteride blocks one of the two enzymes responsible for converting testosterone to DHT thru binding. So this still leaves the other enzyme available for converting testosterone to DHT. In that case if a person has high testosterone won't it be true that there will be more conversion happening thru the enzyme not blocked which will continue to convert and make DHT? In any case a person with high testosterone or even someone eating foods which increase tesosterone or exercise would have more testosterone available to be converted to DHT thru the enzyme which is not blocked? This I ask since your post somewhere said exercise should not increase hair loss.
  2. I have been taking finasteride over a year now and it seems my crown has stopped shedding but then again I have grown most of my hair so it is hard to tell how well it is working. Does anyone know if finasteride is supposed to completely block DHT in the scalp or just partially block it?
  3. If someone has 3 HT procedures using the FUT method does it create three seperate scars or is the previous scar re-opened and a further strip taken just below the scar and then closed up making the original scare a bit wider? My second question is if someone has had 3 FUT HTs and another FUT is not possible due donor limitation can a fourth procedure be done using FUE method since hair would be taken spread out making it possible for more donor being available this way?
  4. I had my hair transplant 4 months and a week ago. It was 3519 grafts transplanted in the front third of my head. I have thick coarser then avg hair. I have attached one before pic where my hair was very short (a #4 clipper) and two pics which were taken today. Let me know what you guys think. Should I expect a lot more growing and new hair growth as well? I have seen improvement since my transplant but not sure how much of it is just shock loss growing back.
  5. I had my HT about a month ago and I have probably shed about 40% of the transplanted hair but the remaining has not shed. I have been using rogain since about day 10 post HT, not sure if that prevents the shedding or regrows the transplanted hair quicker. Has anyone experienced not much shedding or do you guys think I will shed all the transplanted hair in the next few weeks? Has anyone used Rogain post HT and has it helped prevent shedding or grow back the transplanted hair quicker? Also, does anyone know what % of transplanted grafts survive to grow hair, is it 100% or always less than what was transplanted?
  6. Most HT doctors in Toronto keep their prices low because it is very competitive in Toronto with so many surgeons. Other places such as Ottawa where there is not much competition the surgeons can keep their prices high without much impact. Another thing to keep in mind is that surgeons who perform mega sessions usually keep their prices high as well. For example, H&W and Rahal perform mega sessions while Simmons does not.
  7. Has anyone experienced not shedding the transplanted hair after a HT? I am a little over 2 weeks and all my scabs i have rubbed off in the shower but my transplanted hairs are still there. Am i luck or is it still early and they will all go before coming back at 3 months?
  8. I think personally you should take everything into consideration but the most priority should be given to results. Then i guess the price and travel. For me, since I was impressed with Dr. Simmons results as I did not find any bad feedback or much difference between Dr. Rahal and his results (when comparing result pics on these forums and the sites) and since I was in Toronto and Dr. Simmons prices were very reasonable, i went with Dr. Simmons. I did not want to keep having to travel to Ottawa for follow up appointments at 1 month, 6 month and 9 month mark or in case i had issues post surgery and had to see him as again. So my advise to you is to consider everything because you will be spending a lot of money for this.
  9. JasonB, i was in the same boat as you after consulting with most of the doctors you have listed. After reading reviews and also speaking with a few people I chose Dr. Simmons as he is a coalition member and produces excellent results. You can see his results on the forums. I would say H&W, Rahal, and Simmons are the best in Canada. Personally, H&W charge a lot more for the simple reason that they perform mega sessions. If you are in Toronto and are going to have a HT with 3600 grafts or less I would recommend going with Dr. Simmons. I have a friend who also had a transplant by him and has has excellent results. I just had my HT with Dr. Simmons about a week and a half ago and had a great experience. His staff has been working with him for about two decades and he himself has much experience. You will not be dissapointed.
  10. Attached is also a pic of the back to make it more clear perhaps. Please advise. Also, from what the Dr told me and from what i know its not diffuse thinning as it is in the crown front part and not at back or sides meaning not all over my entire head.
  11. Michael no its not diffused thining. I seen a doctor and he tol me it was thinning in NW 5A.
  12. Thanks Lorenzo. I was hoping to have it all hidden by 7-8 days. Anyone else please advise on my questions all your feedback is greatly appreciated.
  13. I was looking for some advise for HT. I am in my early 30s and been on Propecia for a year and half and has seemed to stop or very least slow down my hair loss. I started losing hair since i was about 21. If i have HT, will i be able to get back to work after a week with nobody noticing as I will not shave the recipient area and will leave it about an inch long? Does Dr. Rahal perform surgeries in Toronto or only in Ottawa? Can someone also have a look at my pic and advise if 3000 grafts to the top excluding crown would give me significant results, i have straight coarsers then avg hair? Am I a norwood 5/6, from the pic do you see things getting worst for me? Will i lose any existing hair at top of my head from a HT (I think i read something like that from a post someone had, not sure if true)? Between Dr Rahal and Dr Simmons who would you choose and why?
