  1. Hi Bill, DrTBarghouthi and Melvin. Thank you for the replies. Dr T.B thank you for that informative post and yes you are correct I have Inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative colitis/crohns disease). I have been on Imuran for almost 5 years now on a lower dose of 50mg together with allopurinol 100mg. Also on Stelara injection (ustekinumab) and mesalazine. Been on other biologics before like infliximab and Humira. I did have an initial thinning of my hair when I first started Imuran but it now has stabilised and 5000mcg of biotin has helped but still a little thinner. I checked my blood results after your post. My WBC have been high but the last 6 months they have been in the normal range. My platelets have been high but the last 5 months they have been in the normal range. Others are, RBC constantly slightly low, MCV constantly slightly high, MCH constantly slightly high, RDW constantly slightly high and CRP has been high and now back to normal. I guess I was most concerned if the grafts and donor area will heal properly and if the HT will look good when finished. Maybe also if I'm more prone to infection. (Side note: I got a small cut on my hand under the thumb a couple months ago and it healed with a red/darker mark so I was worried that the grafts will heal like that, but I guess its different and a different area).
  2. Hi, Has anyone been on the immunosuppressant drug Imuran (azathioprine) and had a hair transplant? If so how did it go?
  3. My health has been really poor the last year and been playing up for over 2 years. My ulcerative colitis has been out of control and I have been really suffering and needing to take many medications such as prednisone, Imuran (with allopurinol), and Humira injections, all of which cause hair loss. Despite all this I am still very happy with my hair and thought I would post an updated photo.
  4. Been wanting to put up the 2 year pics for a while. Here they are. Very happy . Thank you Dr Lindsey!
  5. These photos are after being very sick for over 4 months with Ulcerative Colitis and being on medications like prednisone etc. lost alot of weight (10kg -22lb) in a few weeks so im sure i lost some hair as well. As i type this i am getting a little better and already starting to see my hair looking healthier and thicker. So overall im very happy with the results. I am very happy with the work Dr Lindsey has done and i could not thank him enough. If you're thinking of getting a HT, don't put it off any longer. Call and see Dr Lindsey you will be happy you did. I know i am and its the best thing i ever did. I only wish i got it done sooner. I didnt take a shot of the scar as it is not visible with a No 4 hair cut. It starts to get visible with a No 2-3. I will take a shot next time.
  6. Just after a hair cut. Photos taken outside with light, thus looks thinner than it normally does. Scar is shown with No2 cut.
