  1. A8TYF: I had my first HT in 2004 and have had 2 additional HTs since then to thicken up my hair. All the transplanted hairs to my knowledge are still growing. As for native hairs...I didn't really have much left to lose. I am very happy with it long term.
  2. I think this is a great thread. Lots of good information. For those researching HTs I think you can clearly see the importance of selecting a reputable physician who will spend time throughly discussing your options with you. There are a lot of factors involved with HT. You can't just look at someone else's photos and say, "I need that many grafts and I'll look like that guy". Thanks everyone for contributing this information.
  3. Ny116- Was this the plan that you discussed with your Doc before your HT? Was the plan to do 2 procedures? I tend to agree with everyone elses comments. Wait to see your results before planning the next procedure. You may find that you are happy with the density and how your scar heals. Best of luck to you!
  4. I was told I could rub the transplant area very gently after a week or so. Are you saying that you still have these "lumps" now, after 2 months? I think after 2 months you should be able to scrub any flakes off with out doing any damage.
  5. From the photos I’ve seen on this site it looks like Dr. Hasson does great work. I'm sure you will enjoy watching your hair fill in over the next several months. Congrats and thanks for the update.
  6. I have to agree. If you aren't noticing the hair loss and it doesn't really bother you right now then it's probably best to wait. I've also heard that at your age most docs won't do surgery but it may be good to have a consult with an ethical doctor, not one who will recommend the surgery just to put money in his own pocket, so that you know what your options are and can start planning for the future. You can do a search on this site for a coalition doctor in your area.
  7. UKpatient: I hope things are clearing up. Can you give us a quick update? What is the estimated time for foliculitis to clear up? Is it just a type of infection? Thanks for sharing.
  8. wb280: I guess I was lucky in the fact that having the procedure didn't interrupt my work schedule too much. I had my procedure done and was able to return to work within a few days wearing a hat as I had usually done to begin with. If you were to have a second procedure to fortify the area it may not be as noticeable since you have some hair there now. That is as long as your doc doesn't have to shave the area. I've also read about several people using concealers after their HT to hide it. I understand that this would be a tough decision though since it will most likely impact your business and in these times every little bit counts. Good luck to you! RCWest: I haven't really thought about it too much. I'm pretty sure I've got some donor left back there but I'm really quite happy at this point and expecting my hair to grow in even more over the next few months.
  9. My 1st HT was to the front, 2nd to the back, and this last one was throughout to thicken everything. The photos are 8 months after and are the best to show the comparison.
  10. After my HT's I was told that I could always reach the doctor if needed by calling the office. Not sure how exactly it works cause I never needed to call, but I think it's a legal thing that a doctor has to have some sort of arrangement if he is not available??? Sorry I can't be more helpful
  11. Have you met with a doc yet? I don't really know the answer to what you are asking but I would think it may look a little strange in between surgeries. I'm picturing a a full hairline, then a thin or bald area, then full hair. You would have to wait to loose the hair, to some extent, until your next HT so you don't damage hairs that are there. There is also the financial aspect since this is not inexpensive. Unless I had a nice reserve of cash this would worry me.
  12. I've only heard bad things about Bosley, but I guess bad news travels. Seems a little strange that the office arranged the meetings. I'd make sure that the people you meet with had their HT with the same Doctor you will have yours with. By the way. Dr. Harris is recommended on here. He is in Colorado.
  13. garet I second that. You can't go back once you have had the HT so see how you like your hair buzzed or shaved. You can always grow it back out and you can still have the HT when you're sure it's the right choice.
  14. I went into the Doc's office for a check up this week. It's been about 8 months since my last surgery and already it's thickening. I couldn't really tell until I saw the before pics and wow! I'm just waiting to receive the photos that were taken and then I will post them. I'm excited to see what the next few months will bring.
  15. It's seems from my experience, and from other posts on this site, that this is pretty common. It doesn't seem that it has effected my growth.
  16. Thanks everyone! I have a ton of photos:eek:. I'd like to post as many key shots as I can. I just updated my site with more from the first HT...more to come. I'll keep everyone posted of updates here.
  17. Thank you! gmonasco- I guess I should change my user name to Mr. Fantastic. I wish I was Reed Richards, then I'd naturally have perfect hair. David- great idea thanks. Now I'll work on getting more of my photos on there.
  18. I agree! The photos with the hair parted really show the work done since the patient has his hair combed forward in the after pics. It looks like he is able to wear his hair short in the back now without scar showing. Very nice.
  19. I did a quick search for him on here and did not see anything bad, but nothing impressive either. Someone in a post said that they weren't thrilled with the before and after photographs they were shown at the consult appointment. Did you have a consultation with him? What was your impression of him?
  20. If anything I felt like I got a bit of a neck lift out of it. No extra charge I never felt like my hairline was pulled or noticed my hairline go back at all. When is your procedure?
  21. I looked at your pictures. I had a few bumps similar to this after my transplant. I think I noticed them about a month or two after surgery. I'd still check with your doc but Dr. Gabel told me that the spots I had were like pimples caused by the new hairs trying to grow through the skin.
  22. Dr. Gabel recommended this for me as well. I think it was about a week after surgery. It can be a bit of a challenge to sit there for so long but it worked for me.
