  1. Excess sweating is a great point. Any insight? I am unclear on this
  2. Did you consult your doc? Please keep us updated on what you choose to do and the results you see. Like NEWHAIRPLEASE said, it's a personal choice!
  3. Good luck--right now it looking like it'll be quite good.
  4. I agree with Spex--definitely looking forward to seeing how this looks in a few months. Right now it's pretty great.
  5. That looks fine to me. But MPB is something hard to catch early, mostly because it's really hard to tell. If you're going to be anxious about it all the time, have a hair doctor look at it.
  6. I've been taking biotin for about two weeks now and haven't noticed any out of ordinary acne myself.
  7. From poking around on these forums, it seems like it changes from person to person. That being said, I would guess 5-8 months is when you get a really good idea of how your HT went.
  8. I read a post on the Gabel blog recently about finasteride. It cited a 10-year study that said finasteride was really reliably safe. Coming from personal experience, I instead think depression is playing a major role here. In any case, the libido is something that comes and goes. Think of this as a period where you really don't have to worry about sex and can focus on other things.
  9. A hair doctor would be actually be preferable. I'm not sure what sort of blood tests could be run, but a hair doctor might be more familiar with the problem.
  10. I'm actually surprised--with your hair closely shaved like that, it looks quite nice.
  11. I really want to see some of this guys' before and after pics.
  12. So it's been about a week on biotin. And I think it is having a bit of an effect--my hair seems fuller, and my facial hair is softer and seems to be growing a bit faster. I'll keep you updated.
  13. I don't think there's any research evidence for this. While interesting, I wouldn't experiment any further than a glass of wine with dinner.
  14. Does you have any older family members with similar hair, i.e. just a big widow's peak?
  15. I've also been wondering this a lot. Thanks for the solution!
  16. Sounds like a pretty weird situation. Obviously his looks (and his health) are important to you, which is not at all a bad thing. See if he'd be willing to take Finasteride(propecia). It's proven very definitely to be safe. If he experiences side effects that persist after a while, you can discontinue the dose and the side-effects should go away. Finally, I do agree that he should head to the doctor. If he hasn't been to the doctor in years, and he doesn't seem healthy, then it's definitely a good idea.
  17. Hair Loss is a really personal issue. It can sometimes be hard to come to terms with. It can also be hard to start treating it, because the process of research and treatment is often time-intensive, expensive, and life-long. I think it's OK to recommend something to your boyfriend and point him in certain directions. Even tell him your honest feelings. But try not to pressure him. The decisions he makes here aren't trivial or just superficial--they could affect his entire life. If he's happy without addressing his hair loss, then its important to consider that maybe he shouldn't.
  18. I agree with what you suggest, that your hair loss will be closer to your father's. But I'm not a geneticist, and I don't think anyone else here is. I mean, one important part of genetics is variation...so who knows? If the hair loss is bothering you, though, it can't hurt to set up a consultation somewhere and see what they recommend.
  19. Don't worry so much right now. In any case, hair loss--and its treatment--is a really slow process. Try and find another dermatologist in your area, and explain to him/her your situation. In any case, see about getting on Finasteride(propecia) if it's right for you. You definitely don't want a hair transplant at this age.
  20. Great transformation. Thanks for putting up such detailed results--this sort of thing is always helpful.
  21. Inspired by this post, I started using Nature's Made biotin (5000mcg) a few days ago. I'll repost here in a week or two to report on how things go.
