  1. stay the heck away, the hairs are rejected by your body, and you get infections.
  2. Hey, i was just wondering, I have had a few hair transplants with reputable doctors and i still have trouble growing hair in an area of the scalp that is about 2 inches in diamter. I t really affects the overall results. Have any of u guys heard about this conundrum. tHe hair grows everywhere except in that little area, the hair is there, but its weak and doesnt grow long. What gives?
  3. hi future ht. I posted pics circa 4 to s months. its in the thread for patient results. Now,u have to realize that i was a norwood 6 (advanced) so the area to fill is huge. Ive had about 3,500 grafts all together from my other procedures and i still need more. I m happy with dr. ochs, icant wait for my hair to grow a few inches to get the layer effect, HOPEFULLY the horrible contrast of white on black hair will not screw up results. tc.
  4. I had my surgery with dr. ochs about 6 months ago july 17. I thought he did a good job, i see more hair than there was before and he did not misrepresent himself. I think (tragically) for some, hair transplantation just doesnt work. I feel for danoush, but you cant condemn dr Ochs based on 1 person.Dr ochs is licenced and has the right credentials, which is why i chose him, i still have to see the end result of course, but what i see in the mirror is evidence of good workmanship.
  5. grow your hair long, it works for me,(and my hair is thin also) i gues the only time your reminded of the scar is when you shave down to a number 3,2,or 1, other than that, hasson and wong have good results on their strips, i wouldnt worry too much, you will have more hair on top,and that is worth it .\ tcare.
  6. give it a few more months. if it s still bad,you need to take action against armani. it is indeed perplexing to have less hair than what you started out with. GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!!!
  7. go for it, i only have 4000 grafts, and my scalp is really white and my hair is jet black, so its a horrible contrast. i can see you have black hair and a darker skin tone on your scalp, this will definitely be a gain for you. I think that 3k graft will help you with your hairs characteristics, and if you need more, you can always go to a cheaper doctor, just to add more hair. thats what i did. Youre lucky that you dont have a really white scalp though, it really screws things up.
  8. I opted to just fill in the front, thats the profile that everyone sees anyway. So a good strategy would be to start a conservative hair line in the front, and work your way back. Also your curly hair will be beneficial for "Creating the illusion" of density, if you place a density of about 40-45 hairsper sq cen.in the front you should get a great result and if u have high sides that should help even further.
  9. i started sleeping on recipient area about 10 days post op(after staple removal),and area is still a bit tender, use aloe vera, and try not too scratch the scar(aloe vera helps with itching). You had a surgery form the best surgeon in the business so you should follow his directions for staple removal, you should get great results, now comes the hard part, the WAITING period.
  10. hey pd. IT LOOKS like you have good donor hair, and i know that only a doc knows, but from my experience, i think you could do a good frontal transplant. I think though that you wuld need about 4000 in the front.see a good doc, again, your donor hair looks good, so there is good potential for good results.
  11. tw5 Hey man, i got to say that you dont have it bad. You have a wife and you dont have to worry about playing the game anymore, so dont jump too fast into the ht game. I also wnt bald around 24, and i can tell you (being a nowrwood six) i still look bald in some areas, so if u just have 3500 grafts available, you might regret doing it, hell man i have close to 4000 grafts and i still need more work!! at a norwood 7 and with limited supply, youre looking at a minimal cosmetic change. But its just my opinion, if your expectiations are realistic, you might be happy with a frontal transplant.
  12. Thanks Bill, I ve had enough transplants to "know better" but yu can never be too sure.
  13. hEY , I NOticed the topic on sun exposure, but it begs the question, how much will sun damage the grafts 2 mos out? Or better put, will spending 10 minutes in the sun without a hat destroy or inhibit graft growth. please help, i went out yesterday without a hat on, total dome exposure was about 10 to 15 minutes. Bill, maybe you can weigh in bro, thanks.
  14. Hi jim, in regards to your question, dr. peterson at the time was sellin his franchise and gave me a great offer, it was about 3.00 a graft, i can tell you though that i wasnt happy with the results and had to have two more surgeries. dr. ziering now owns his practice and from what i hear he is mediocre, there are lots of posts here that convey that. I m happy to hear you had great results, i guess every one is different when it comes to growth. cheers.
  15. The emperor is right, scars will be wide and if not wide , you still cannot buzz your hair to short because the smiley face will be mugging everyone staring at the back of youre head. I think it all comes down to vanity and money . If you dont care about the scar and you dont want to spend a fortune (face it fue is expensive compared to strip) then go for it. I had 3 strips and my results were pretty good, but i wont be going for the jason statham look any time soon.
  16. Jason is right on this one.I think fue would be a good choice. Speaking asa strip guy myself, i can tell you that the linear scar in the back of the head really affects the way you wear your hair, my scar is visible even at a #2 guard!! sINce youre only a norwood three, try fue, and definittely go on fin, this way ypou stabilize your future loss and by doing fue you wont have the horrible "smiley face" in the back of your noggin'. The reason i settled for strip is because it was cheaper and it only took 5 hours in operating room. TC
  17. USC MAN: IM originally from la and decided to have my surgery here in cali.regarding average cost, it could be as expensive as 7 to 8 dollars a graft. You should consider dr. ochs in beverly hills, I just had my surgery there 2 months ago. he charges 2.00 a graft (each graft contains 1, 2 and 3 hairs)he planted 1600 grafts for about 3k. He has a good staff and the pain during surgery was minimal.I m seeing all the sprouts coming out right now and cant wait to see the full effect. In the end you should research well, this site has great doctors, I chose my doc strictly for economic reasons and i was lucky thank god. Beware of really cheap transplants though, always make sure youre doc is licensed and can back up evidence of having performed hair transplants( the more surgeries hes done the better) cheers
  18. It is likely that you have high levels of testosterone,(naturally) which converts to DHT. High levels of dht are responsible for hair loss. the propecia is definitely not the culprit with regards to you high testosterone, propecia would lower it. Not everyone with high dht goes bald, only the people with the DHT gene will go bald. Hpe this help, i also have high testosterone levels and as a consequense( i suspect) it led to high dht production(i lost my hair at the age of 25) take care.
  19. Scorpian, there is definitely an improvement from month 1 to month 4. Try using couvre, its excellent product. It helped me through the worst of the early months ("doldrums").In a few months you wont be scrutinizing the situation anymore. TC.
  20. Hi. As someone on a budget, i empathize with your situation. i just had a surgery with a doctor with a cheap rate (2.00 per follicular unit)I have to say that he met my qulifications( ive had 2 other surgeries). Just because a doctor doesnt charge 4 to 5 $ a graft doesnt mean that theyre incompetent. iN FACT dR. oCHS is A highly qualified Doctor. he has performed thousands of surgeries and his results are great. But be aware of the "mills" that are out there though.. make sure your doc has the experience, is licenced, and is well known to the hair transplant community. Im about a month out, and i can see the hair sprouts. He has exceeded my expections, while saving me a little dough.rEGARDING the woman who told you that you dont need any evaluation, that is a "mill" characteristic and you should be careful. At the clinic that i went, i got 1600 grafts for about 3 grand.
  21. I t also depends on your doc. For instance, at my docs office, i had told my doc that i definitely didnt want to endure pain ( which most of it comes from where they are injecting you with local anesthetic) well, by the time i was in the "seat"i was so high on the pills they gave me, the pain was a non issue. As i said, the injections are what really hurts, by the time they are cutting out the strip, you dont feel a thing. Dr Ochs has made sure i was well prepd for the surgery. Thanks to the pills he gave me I didnt feel a thing.( NOTE that everywhere else ive had surgery, the injections hurt like a mother...)hope this is helpful.Ask your doc for these pills, they raise your pain threshold.
  22. Hey vollow, i had your same situation, got my first ht at 26 and it didnt do what i wnated it to do. mY expectations were not met. Also i tried the "system" for 2 years prior to ht. It sucked. there is tension that certain system have in the manner they are attached that will exacerbate hair loss and speed up the process. i think you should try propecia and rogaine and see what you get in 6 years, then make a decision. Stay away from hair systems they look like crap after afew months anyway.
  23. Ive been in this quagmire before. I got my first ht and the doctor put on fin. I had horrible bouts of vertigo(spinning sensation) because of it and stopped taking the damn thing. It works for some people, but not for me. so ive had a few ht s to keep up with my hair loss. i guess sometimes we should just realize the truth and be realistic, I am just happy that i will not end up TOtally bald. You could try it out and see if it s not affecting you, and see what happens. otHER wise, accept the situation, and minimize the effects by getting a few hts.
