  1. Hey man... That's great news! I'm glad you chose the route that you did. I'm sure you will have excellent results. Thanks for responding as i was a bit concerned that you wouldn't take the first step based on what you wrote earlier. I'm really excited for you and on that same token... a lot more at ease. Take before pics and keep us all updated.
  2. Hey Everyone... I have read all the posts and wanna thank all of you for your support as well as your honesty. I have spoken to my doctor about the situation and was told that pretty much all my hairs that were transplanted grew out. The issue that i am facing and the reason why it looks the way it does is that the hairs in my donor area (microscopically), are spread out. i do not have to many 3's and 4's rather a lot of 1's and 2's. Because of the nature of my hair, it is extremely difficult to get optimal results with 2000 grafts vs a person that has more 3's and 4's to donate. To make matters worse, my hair is curly so the actual root/shaft of the hair is wider meaning the hairs cannot be placed to close like that of a person with straight hair and a smaller diameter shaft hence, my hairs have to be transplanted farther apart from each other which gives room for light to hit the scalp. On a positive note, i was told i have a very flexible scalp and can undergo another 1-2, possibly 3 more transplants. My next surgery (should i choose to have one) would consist of ~1800 grafts placed in between my recent TP to add density. According to my doctor, my very first surgery ~7 years ago, he had spread out the 2100 grafts throughout my scalp from front to back because i still had some native hair, hence the reason i still have some hair now in locations other than the front. This time around, he concentrated on my frontal area. I was told that this next surgery (this 3rd one) would give density to my frontal area with the 1800 grafts. The next HT afterwards (my 4th one) will be concentrated in the mid area which i would imagine would look like my frontal area now, but assuming i comb it back, should give off some yield. Now the question is... Should i go ahead with a 3rd procedure? I'm leaning towards yes because quite frankly, Up till now, you cant tell i had a hair transplant rather, as of now, it "appears" like I'm loosing hair and will be going bald soon. Also, the scar behind my head is there already so that wont change. In addition, iv done 2 procedures already and although I'm still not satisfied, the hairs did grow and iv had no complications so if i can get more hair planted in, it can only improve my situation as opposed to doing nothing. My take on this matter is that if i do nothing, then nothing will change. I don't have any of the conditions that were listed here such as transplant miniaturization. Just that my hair is naturally thin and for the fact it still has ~5 months to mature to its original thickness. Just to set the record straight, however, the pictures shown on the first page ARE current. I just didn't set the year properly on the camera. Also, the brightest picture that you see is the ONLY picture where i DID NOT use the flash. I have florescent lighting that is literally 5 inches from my head (I have low ceilings). All the other pictures were taken with a flash. I would also like to add that my hair is not unstyalable when dry. I can style it just fine when wet but once it drys without any gel, the end result is what you see in the pictures. Now i was afraid this was going to happen. orlhair1 is a prime example of why i wasn't very comfortable with my post. Its not for the fact that my results thus far arent very good but it appears i am deterring people from getting a HT in order to better "there" life. He is only 1 person who posted but what about the others who are just reading this and making a decision not to go through with it? If anyone here is contemplating on getting a HT.... I really hope you guys arent using my post to sway you away from bettering your self esteem and improving your lifestyle. There are more good outcomes than bad so please read ALL the facts and ask as many questions as you want/can to be 100% certain on your decision. Please do NOT make this post a major factor in your decision. At this juncture, i haven't lost hope and i feel that i must be optimistic. I would like to get your 2 cents whether i should or should not continue with getting a 3rd transplant. Thanks again for everyone's support and honesty on this issue that i am facing. Good or bad, I'm looking forward to hearing your replies.
  3. I really feel that i should. Look at all the negative comments ("it looks pluggy, poor results, get your money back, etc..") Wouldn't that make you think twice about getting a TP? Perhaps I am getting people worried that have already had a TP and are thinking "what if i turn out like him". Doesn't make it any easier for those people. If i deter even one person for increasing there quality of life by deciding to not do a transplant, based on this post, then that in itself is my fault. Its questionable whether i should have posted the way i did as opposed to saying "How many grafts would i need to fill this out" or "Would a transplant be able to give me density", etc... I should not have marked this as a 1 year anniversary. Non the less, the damage is done and i am sorry for those looking into getting one. Please, please, please do not let my results stop you. I am one of the rare isolated cases which did not take well and will still promote HT surgery as an alternative to hair loss. That being said.... I have made an appointment with Feller to discuss my situation. I can only hope i get some form of good news. Heaven knows i need it right now. The thing that bothers me is for the fact i did 2 surgeries totaling ~4000 grafts. If i get another one, whats to say it will be successful? I know the saying 3rd times the charm but do i roll on that and take the chance with the possibility of making matters worse? I cant look back anymore by shaving my head and i certainly cant walk out without a hat so in essence, my only option is to move forward with a 3rd transplant and hope for the best. I was told i still have donor hair for another TP. I want to thank you all for your honesty and help thus far. Despite the fact i wasn't hoping for these kinds of responses, i certainly appreciate hearing the truth as harsh as they are. I have been given lots of suggestions and will act on them. If anyone else would like to add any further information, then please feel free to do so. I can handle the criticism for the fact that i can only look forward in a positive manner to get this issue resolved/straightened out.
  4. I think it was ~2004 iv done the procedure with Dr. Feller in the amount of 2100 grafts. Last year iv done the same procedure with him in the amount of ~2000 grafts. So between then and now, this pictures above are the end result. Most of the pictures are from me coming out of the shower and shortly allowing it to dry is where you see the others. No gels or anything. Clearly, these results are not typical of someone who had 4000+ grafts but i cant blame Dr. Feller as the results may be due to my own hair not taking for whatever unknown reasons. He has had way to many positive results for me to blame him hence the problem lies with me. Im sooo down right now you cant imagine. Ill pull back up for sure but just cant think of that right now as im not even sure which option i have.
  5. Geez... I'm pretty bummed right now, however, as you requested, Below are some pics of my hair dry in different lighting using a different camera. The appearance of these pictures here vs the ones i provided in my blog arent far matched. I cant go outside cause its raining. I don't have any dermatological conditions nor am i on propecia. I don't take any medication either. By the look at the amount of hits on this post and only 1 reply... Its obvious that my results are not positive. I'm real sorry everyone as im hoping my results do no deter you from getting a Transplant. There are many cases with positive ones just that i may be the exception. Thanks a lot for your input. If any new results form, ill let you guys know.
  6. Iv been taking pictures from day 1 to now. My results have not been typical of others with the same norwood scale (NW6) vs the amount of transplants done. So i wanted to get some opinions. Iv received one from a different post and would have to agree that by this time, i should have had much better results. Im an optimistic kinda guy and based on other posts I should continue to grow and thicken for the next 6 months but at this point in time, does anyone think there will be a significant difference from now and 6 months from now? Please visit my blog and comment in this thread with your thoughts. Thanks: Hair Restoration Site for Trooper
  7. This is certainly not the correct topic thread to discuss this as i was aiming for a different category of responses so ill start a new thread to discuss this particular issue. Feel free to chime in. I respect your honesty. Thanx
  8. Hmmm. You got me thinking now. Maybe your right. Im just focusing on the front view which looks fine. I did take the previous pictures with wet hair and a wax paste called FX Dirt (which was recommended on this site by a poster). Here are pictures of me in the morning. Also... I let my hair grow pretty long. Hair is about 3.5 inches long. Now that im analyzing my before and after pics, there's only growth in the front and nothing really mid-way. There was ~2000 grafts put into place in the frontal to mid area. Mind you this is my second transplant from 7 years ago so in total i should have ~4000 grafts. Nothing was done in the mid to rear area. Should i consider the transplant a failure? I'm not sure what my next course of action should be. Do i go back to the doctor, Wait the 6 months or find another doctor?
  9. Thanx Atomic.... So many variations play a roll in how the hair looks. From one mirror to another, you can look your best and seemingly, your worst. It really changes the mood of the day. Non the less, I just posted current pictures in my blog via my 1 year anniversary. Check it out Hair Restoration Site for Trooper . Id like to hear peoples 2 cents. Id also like to hear suggestions on specific areas to be worked on for my next transplant. Thanx in advance.
  10. ***UPDATE... Just added my 12 month post op results*** So i just found out the other day. I come into work with my hat that iv worn for nearly 7 years on the job. No one in the room yet cause its early and my boss tells me "what are you gonna do with the hat 2 weeks from now"? I was like what do you mean? He tells me that a new policy will take effect where no more hats will be allowed to be worn. So i was kinda shocked and not knowing what to say i just blurted out "guess ill get a hair cut". OK, so heres the deal. I guess you can say that I'm kinda worried because iv always worn my hat to work, however, and on a positive note the little man inside me feels a fraction confident because my results after my second transplant is finally starting to show fuller and thicker. Its 4 more days till my 1 year anniversary since my second transplant. I can tell ya that's its been kinda rough the first 10 months but now that the results are finally coming through, i feel more confident. I have mixed emotions at this point cause in a sense, I'm kind of glad that i can stop wearing the hat but a bit nervous of what people might think. I know, i know, its stupid to be concerned as to what others think about my hair but i know im gonna get the wise crack comments. Will probably last for a little while considering 7 years of hat wearing. Just so you can see what the results looks like to date.... I still have ~6 more months of thickening (months 1-12 click here). This new policy can go both ways.. It can either be a godsend or a disaster. Lets hope for the best right?
  11. I dont post to often and im usually skeptical when i do, however, based on the pictures you supplied, im confident that with the right doctor, you will see positive improvements. I have seen far worse HT than yours and believe me.... Its no where near as bad as you think. I agree that the results VS the amount of transplanted hairs you received should have been more dense, however, it doesn't look like your at that stage where its a dead end issue. Search this site as the right doctor can dramatically make the difference. Best of luck.
  12. You know what? your absolutely right... I think I'm just experiencing the frustration that most people get prematurely to the 1-1.5 year mark. Anxiousness is a more accurate term. I just looked through other peoples blog and this particular guy (arockstarwannabe), his hair is very similar to mine, not to mention, did his Transplant by the same doctor as me. If my results turn out even close to his at month 15... Then ill be a happy camper. Guess ill keep posting at 2 month intervals to compare results. Non the less, i feel that even at month 15, ill endure hair greed like some people on this site and schedule another transplant session. Im jumping ahead at this point. Just need to take a few steps back and hang tight.
  13. Should i plan now for my next hair transplant or wait? I'm a bit concerned that from the front view it looks good but from every other angle, it doesnt look to dense especially from the top. I mean... I'm only 4 months shy of 1 year. Based on my progression, should i expect it to get more dense? Well, have at it: Hair Restoration Site for Trooper
  14. So i just posted my journal and had a few questions. Just so you know, i realize this is not really the time to determine my outcome but 6 months down the line.... I would appreciate any information given. 1- does this look typical of a 6 month post-op transplant result? 2- I don't see much improvement thus far. Will this thicken up/grow some? 3- I have checked numerous mirrors over time and it seems that some mirrors make me look real bad and some make me look good (among different lighting conditions as well). Which one do i believe? 4- I don't see any new hairs growing. Are new hairs supposed to be obvious? 5- Pre op pics (taken the day before my second surgery) portray 2100 grafts implanted 7 years ago. 6 months ago i did 2000 grafts. Based on peoples experience here.... Would i see a dramatic improvement in the next 6 months or do you think it will get just slightly thicker? I know everyone grows different so this question is kinda mute and hard to answer but I'm open to any opinions. Here is my journal with pictures Hair Restoration Site for Trooper Thanx in advance.
  15. i opted not to take any medication at all. I just stayed up on the computer or watched tv till i was soooo tired that i just passed out. Wasn't very comfortable to say the least but the pain was tolerable and remember, i didn't take any medication. Just have to bite the bullet and live with the discomfort for a few days. Believe me though... it was no fun and was frustrated like hell but its part of the healing process.
