  1. I get what you're saying, and if my hair looks like hell next year was it a bad HT or the effect of dropping fin. Anyways, I am reconsidering. As I talked about above I started to doubt fin. effectiveness and on top really needed to start donating blood. High hematocrit and iron. You can't donate on fin. However, you can have a phlebotomy at a hospital where they destroy the blood after. I talked this through with Dr. Nader and he was OK dropping it but he told to keep an eye out for extreme shedding, then to crank it back up if I noticed any. Thanks for the post.
  2. Thanks for the kind words and it's nice for me to see improvement as time goes by. Seems there are still new hairs sprouting up, especially in the crown now. Somewhere on the forums I recall reading the crown comes in slower than the front. I started Rogaine this week on the crown, maybe that will boost things. Everything just needs to start thickening, which I'm confident will happen.
  3. My HT surgeon says yes. I was told to be aware of my stress levels post op and try to minimize stress as much as possible.
  4. Here we are a little over 6 months out. Pics are "bed head" this morning in natural light. Under harsh light or flash looks thinner of course. Redness continues to fade, starting to see structure, and really need those new hairs to thicken up! I'm a little concerned about the crown, and am thinking of starting rogaine. I was on Fin for 20 years and quit about a month after my HT. I really didn't think it was doing much anymore and for another unrelated reason I wanted to start donating blood (Fin is a no no for that). Dr. Nader was OK about dropping the fin, but suggested the rogaine to help the crown out. I'm on biotin in addition to my other supplements. My long range goal on hair style is for tight on the sides and full on top. To that end my hair gal is thinking to just let it grow. These shots are about 3 (maybe 4) weeks after my last haircut.
  5. I feel it stopped working for me after being on it about 20 years. I stopped 6 months ago when I got my first HT. Am considering rogaine for the crown though
  6. You're gonna have a great experience. Be ready to spend the first hour or two talking one on one with Dr Nader. That for me was the best, talking about my hairloss, getting his thoughts and designing the hairline.
  7. Cancel the music thing. Period. If you ask Nader he'll tell you the same. You need to take it easy and protect your investment. Plus, you'll be scabby, have a lumpy forehead and have a swollen forehead.
  8. Holy smokes, that hairline and 1000 grafts does not compute. Spend some time in this section of the site, read my review, and others. There are lots of choices and you should get a good flavor of the questions to ask, things to look for etc My experience in Mexico with Dr Nader was amazing, but getting into him is hard if you're still in the shopping around mode. I'm sure there's lots of good docs closer to you.
  9. See the posts above, a cashiers check is good for the discount. Check with Brenda on your bank to make sure it works for them (Chase Bank worked for me). And make the check for about a $1000 less than your estimate, bring the rest in cash. You may need less grafts than the estimate. I haven't mentioned tipping in previous posts but I tipped out his staff with the couple hundred I had left over from what I brought and what he charged me. Spread among the staff that goes a ways in Mexico. Oh and I tipped the driver too. He will cut your hair the day of your procedure. Good choice, and start a thread!
  10. Button down shirt is key, on the hat he will sanitize the hat that you bring. Maybe a donut pillow for sleeping. Really hard to sleep that first night after the transplant. Nerves and what not. I took a cashiers check for 1K less than the estimate I got from Brenda. Then 1k in cash. I didn't like the idea of carrying 6-7K around, but you can certainly do that. Dont bring a check for the full amount since you may need less transplants than his initial estimate, that's how it worked for me. My check was from Chase and that was no issue. I'm sure any major US bank will be fine with them. Get the tacos for lunch, if you're two days get the fish the second day.
  11. I was not planning on posting a pic until about the 6 month point but a bunch of colleagues I hadn't seen since before the HT commented this week on how my hair was filling in! And I have to say it is. Remarkable difference from just 4 weeks ago when I posted pics. Looking forward to continued growing and thickening!
  12. Neosporin for the zits is what I did. Brave of you to take it all the way down! Looking good to me.
  13. I'm sure your experience will mirror mine, Dr. Nader and his staff truly care about you and your results. Oh and get the tacos for lunch
  14. I think it's looking real good. Very minimal shedding as far as I can tell which is nice. Redness not bad either. Very nice!
  15. Just be gentle. Would be very hard to displace a graft after 7-10 days. And I know, it's hard to keep your hands off it. Wait till you get zits, it's really hard not to go to town squeezing the sh*t out of them. And PS, for zits I got something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Tissir-Blackhead-Remover-Comedone-Extractor/dp/B07231H335/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1504186005&sr=8-3-spons&keywords=zit+popping&psc=1
  16. For me, I just became more aggressive with shampooing after a week. By aggressive I mean rubbing with finger pads a little harder. You don't want to be manipulating the scalp much. Mine were gone in a week or so. Important to get them off but you may take a little longer. Don't pick at them at all!
  17. No problem. Could be shedding of the transplanted hairs. After a week the grafts are secure, if you "pull" one of them out they'll be blood running down your forehead. Many if not most of the transplanted hairs will shed, ugly duckling stage will set in. Lots of writing about that in the forum, including my thread. Just gotta hang in there. Looks good to me overall
  18. Donor area looks very good after five days, You consider buzzing it all down?
  19. Passed the 4 month mark yesterday. I feel like I'm moving out of the ugly duckling stage and in the right light it seems like I have more hair even now. At this point I know it will get better and better Lots of little guys breaking through too. The pics are after shower and light gel. Along with my normal supplements I'm on biotin, and I've reduced my finesteride to 1.25 mg every other day. Would love to dump the finesteride but it's been about 20 years for me. I really need to donate blood to lower my hematacrit and unfortunately finesteride is one of the banned drugs for that. I'll update again in 2 months with pics. Feedback appreciated!
  20. I'll share pics on the 24th, which is my 16 week mark. I'm seeing progress for sure, but definitely had more hair in my head at the 2 week point!
  21. I think it looks great, especially less than two weeks out. Hope you don't shed!
  22. Congrats on getting on Dr Nader's schedule. I have the most important tip - GET THE TACOS for lunch. Unlike others, I did have donor area pain for about a month ( and yes I took his meds and continued with Ibuprofen). Not much pain, more discomfort. I'm still a little red after 13 weeks, but again, everyone is different. I'm a sales guy and was in front of customers after about 2 weeks. At that stage you look good since you've had little shedding. With the buzz cut it just looks like you got too much sun. I was open about it with anyone that mentioned my "sunburn". Most folks were super interested since HT's have gotten so good over the years. When the shedding kicks in big time the redness will have faded. You can check my pics in the forum under FUE. I'm going to do a 16 week update photo set in about three. And congrats again on getting him. You will be the center of him and his staff's world for the one or two days you're there. And he will remove each graft and make every incision. Oh yeah and you will save a bunch of dough!
  23. I'm about 3.5 months out from my FUE and I still have a little redness. It's faded from where it was in the beginning but still discernible. My thought is it's just our biology, we heal differently for whatever reason. Lots of blood flow into all those little wounds. My complexion is kind of ruddy reddish anyways (especially in the summer) so it's not violent for me. Just hang in there, at the end of the day you will have hair covering that area even if it stays red. Maybe try suntanning (bandana off your recipient area) and get your face/forehead a little darker? People taking shots at your doc or the procedure itself makes little sense to me. If the grafts are in and growing they did the job. Best wishes!
  24. Congratulations! Did you get the tacos or fish for lunch?
