  1. I was strongly considering Dr. Cooley becasue He is local for me, I live in NC. Plus I've heard awesome things about him on this site and read really good reviews. Just recently though I've been putting a lot more thought into this. For some reason, who knows possibly its psychological, but my hairloss seems to be affecting me more lately. The other day it was sunny outside and I was embarrassed to go in out becasue of the light would shine right through. As a college student who works full time to help support my family (my mom and three sisters) staring down the barrel of $10,000 of debt seems really harsh at the moment. I'm semi having to pick between buying my younger sister a car that she really needs to drive my ill youngest sister to and from school or get this HT, which i really feel would give me a tremendous boost in self confidence. I mean in the long run when it comes down to it, its not a hard decision, I'm gonna buy my family a car, but it just rips me apart that at 22 I feel that sometimes the burdens I shoulder are too much to bare. I've done well for myself and if it was me alone I could afford this HT, but ::shruggs shoulders:: its just hard to be confident when your 22 and balding. Sorry for venting all this out on the forum, but I don't really have to many friends that I discuss my hairloss issues with. What do you guys think? an I being a sap?
  2. I know that this is just venting but it really does kind of piss me off that they can advertise products do something they don't. One would assume that if its against the law in NC to sing off key (true fact) then they would have a law to stop people from this kind of misleading advertising.
  3. Bill, I'm not being a smart ass I'm just trying to get clarificiation. If it doesn't grow hair (which i didn't think it did anyway) why do a lot of the posters on this site advocate for it? I mean on the back it does say cleans out DHT? A lot of people have said that they alternate Nioxin and Nirzol? If they really don't do anything then I'd be better off saving my money? You as well as some of the other poster on this site seem to have a pretty educated opinion, so I'd really love to hear what you think. ~Arabian
  4. Hey guys, When using Nioxin, is it really important to use the shampoo, then the "scalp therapy" and then the treatment, or could one use just the shampoo and get the same effect. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if its just a gimmic to get me to buy more products. Whats actually doing the work? Thanks

  6. Sorry one more 4 - Bill or anyone? What is ultra refined FUT? explain?
  7. Okay so here are a few questions: 1 - From the two replys thus far, 3000 grafts seems the going number? That would ball park around? $15,000? Thats rough for a full time student And don't say get a job cuz I have a full time one of those too! Probably why im losing my hair i'm so freakin stressed out LOL 2 - Does my age in your opinions play a role here? I know whenever anyone posts "I'm 22" you guys are like DONT DO ANYTHING!!! Looking at my pictures do you guys think my consideration of a HT would be hastely at this point? 3 - Given that every male that has ever thought of being related to me, both on my mom's and dad's sides Grandpa's included are all bald as hell (I'm talking NW 6 or 7) I could put myself at a six or seven if I wasnt using any meds? Does that change things? 3a - One can't help but feel as though he could do a standard HT for now to get a better look to enjoy while being young and then in later years bank on neogensis technology to improve? Is this incorrect thinking? Thanks guys!
  8. Okay guys I know I've made a few posts with questions but I think its finally time for me to do the whole "come out of the hairloss closet" thing. Here are a few pictures of my "situation" All the experts please share your opinions! I'm currently taking Propecia (almost everyday LOL) but will be switching to Proscar thanks to this forum as soon as I run out of Propecia. And next time I get to Walmart I'm going to pic up some Nioxin and Nizoral! What do you guys think? Do tell! Don't be shy! Go on!
  9. Whats the cheapest legitmate place to get Nizoral and Nioxin?
  10. I guess my second question was more about an estimation of recovery time given my skin color. I'm not scheduled for any HT's but I'm highly considering going to see Dr. Cooley and although I'm sure he'll be able to advise me as I have read great things about him on this forum, I'd just like to be able to anticipate the answer. Immediately post-op how long would it take before I would look normal again to where I could go back in public without people knowing i had a HT given that my skin is brown in color. I didn't think i would get cobblestoning I just tried to draw what seems to be a bad analogy. As always Thanks guys!
  11. 1) Can anyone give a clear explanation of shockloss. What it is and why it happens? 2) I've been looking at pictures of post op recovery. Is there a general estimation of how long after surgery it takes for your skin to look normal again? I see on a bunch of photos that even after the scabs have fallen out the skin is still red for a while? And does anyone know how this relates to brown skin folk (I'm middle eastern....if you didn't pick that up from my SN) I remember reading about how some black people have "cobblestoning" ? Is there another affect on brown skin?

  13. Nelly, Topik is great. I used it a few years ago. It works awesome and I still have some left, but the idea of using it daily doesnt appeal to me. Plus it smears and gets on everything. I just dont know if putting a beenie on while my hair is wet traps a lot of moisture and heat on my head. Didn't know if this was helping or hurting the situation.
  14. Hey guys, So here's another question brought to you by yours truely. I don't know if any of you guys do this but because I am thinning pretty heavely in the frontal area what I've been doing is after showering I wear a toboggan or beenie (whatever you want to call it). Becasue my hair is wet when it drys under the toboggan it all lays down and covers more area. How pathetic???????? I know I know but I'll admit I do it! but trust me it looks way better than the alternative. Anyway my question is does anyone have a solid answer of whether or not this is expediting my hairloss? Does it matter? is it not really affecting anything? Any info would be great. LOL and I'm gonna go ahead and pre-thank Bill for whatever he posts, you always come through for us little people (yeah I'm a newbie...whatever! LOL)

  16. Propecia is marketed specifically for hairloss whereas Proscar is a medicine for inflamation and swelling of the prostrate. So does that mean that there are other medications in Proscar that are not in Propecia. And if not then shouldn't Propecia also be used for inflamation and swelling of the prostate?
  17. Bill, Not that I'm into ego inflation, but you post a lot on this forum and thus I highly value you're opinion. How long have you been on Proscar now? And can you honestly say its working the same? on a side note: how is that legal if merck came out with it first? I'm sorry for being so skeptical, but if its the same thing and has the same active ingredient I would think they wouldn't let it pass?
  18. Is it or is it not the same thing though? Someone on a previous thread stated: 1 Proscar pill = 5 Propeica pills Is can anyone confirm that? If thats the case then how is that legal?
  19. Hey guys, I think Mike75 just posted a question about this and I wanted to ask a follow up question. Does anyone have any information as to when a generic form of propecia is coming out. Merck is killing me with this whole $2 a pill thing! I'm a freakin college student! LOL. Also I read something about Proscar, someone mentioned its a 5mg version of Propecia. Is it less expensive? Thanks Thanks guys!

  21. Hey guys, Is there a general consensus on the best shampoo to use? Is Nioxin any better than Nizoral or vice versa? Thanks
  22. I meant morally. LIke there are a lot of people that argue against females getting breast enchancement, for reasons aside from the typical physical risks. I meant from a stickly moral stand point. If both proceduces were 100% effective and 100% safe are they comparable or is there a reason why one procedure would be okay but the ohter not?
  23. I'm considering HT, but I had this idea for some reason and figured I'd put it up on the forum to create a discourse and see what kind of thoughts and responses I get. Do you guys think that getting a HT is the equivalent of a female getting Breast Enhancment surgery? Why or why not? Thanks
