  1. Do you know if Dr. Feller makes you sign one? Taking into consideration some of the pictures I've see online, FUE does seem to be noting less than a "magical" procedure. As a matter of fact, I read a quote that Dr. Feller made which stated this: "The best FUE doctor I know is Dr. Campbell" - which is Dr. Woods Wife. While all others were in the midst of perfecting this technique, Dr. Woods had perfected it and was only getting better. He has more experience and from what I read a lot of passion in what he's doing. Dude, what's up with all of the sarcastic comments on this site? No, that wasn't a "misprint"! And although I appreciate the effort, please don't comment on what you think is or is not "worth it" for me. This means a lot to me, enough that I'm willing to spend a ton of money which I really don't have at the moment. Whether I should or should not perform this operation is clearly none of your business, man. As a direct result of my "research", I was led to Dr. Woods. I was (and still am) interested in learning about his work. So thank you for suggesting Dr "Feller", but I think I'll stick with Woods for now.
  2. Thanks for the email, Frank. Also, thanks for the replies, effort and for all of the help - it's truly appreciated.
  3. p.s. Where did you stay? Hotel? -Thanks
  4. No, trust me, I'm not mistaken as to who I'm speaking of - I spent literally 11 1/2 hours straight reading up on this guy and could not find one negative comment. I had read about the whole not-having-any-assistant's thing, and it makes me a bit comfortable, actually, that the only persons in charge of dealing with my head are the ones most qualified. My cousin had told me that Dr. Woods has an office based out of L.A., so that's where I got that from. Anyway, I had already checked the price for flights and the such - that's one of my main concerns right now. If you don't mind, how much did you pay for everything - I mean (all the way down to buying snacks and upwards to the flight) everything? Does Dr. Woods charge a lot per graft? How much did you pay? I heard $3USD and then I heard of prices upwards of about $7USD...so, I don't know. I'm wondering whether it'd be worth it to go to Australia for about 150-200 grafts. I'm going to have to check up on that L.A. branch. I'm having a hard time getting answers from anyone (let alone someone who's actually dealt with Dr. Woods), so forgive me for bombarding you with questions. One last request, if I may, Franklin: Please rate your afterlook. Out of 10 (1 being least satisfied and 10 being ecstatic) how happy are you with the results? Thanks (a million) in advance for the help, man, -Anthony
  5. Ok, so a family member and I did a little research on this guy. I also did a search on here and one other person had inquired in regards to Dr. Woods and his question went unanswered. This truly seems too good to be true. He states that he is so confident in his technique that he doesn't make any of his patients sign a Legal Disclamier. From what I've heard he has assistants that run an office which is based out of L.A. Have any of you had any procedures done through this man or his establishment? Any thoughts on what he claims? Anything that seems to make sense or might raise question? All help is appreciated, because I'm leaning more towards this guy than anyone else right now. Thanks! Here's a link to his website: http://www.thewoodstechnique.com/default.asp?MenuID=164&Category=&Search=

  7. Thanks for the help, guys. And laughter's medicine, yes, I was serious. You are obviously on this board on a much more consistant basis than I am, so it's easy to see why you would have known about all of the negative feed back in regards to Bsoley. I simply typed Bosley in google and the second site that came up was this: http://www.bosleymedicalviolations.com/ A few things I read on this page that literally had my jaw glued to the floor. Thank God I asked before I did anything with this company. *sigh*
  8. Bosley? Any good, great, or bad experiences?

  10. Uhhh...yea'! The thing with that is that I don't have a "family" doctor. I was first made aware of what my condition might be VIA this website - I think it might have been Dr. Wolf that gave me abbreviation and meaning behind TTA. I read up on what he had said it was and it seems to be exactly that - but I haven't had it checked yet, so I'm not completely sure whether it really is Temporal Triangular Alopecia or not. I've been calling and asking around and most of the Dermatologist' either refer me to other places or have not heard of this condition, the only one that claimed to have dealt with those with such a condition sounded like a car salesman. So that's pretty much why I need help figuring out how to differentiate the "good" from the "not-so-good". Are Dermatologist' bound by law to disclose any information in regards to how many patients they've actually diagnosed with such a condition? If not, then I don't understand how one would go about weeding out the reputable Dermatologist' from the, "Hey, look at me! I just bought my PHD for 13USD at a local garage sale", guy. Any ideas? All advice is welcome.
  11. If I call 10 Dermatologist', 9 of which either haven't heard of my condition or don't deal with it, and then I finally speak to the secretary of a Dr. which claims that he does in fact deal with such a condition, how can I ensure that he has dealt with it and is quite aware of everything surrounding such a condition? The secretary kept telling me how he's the "best" and that I "won't be disappointed". lol She tells me that a consultation would cost me $425.00 and that he will fill me in as to what the condition might be, following the check up. Now, and as I told the secretary, I wasn't completely canceling out the idea of him actually being a reputable doctor that deals with this specific (yet rare) condition, but how do I know he isn't ignorant to it? I'd surely have an idea after I pay the fee, but I'd like to know before. I asked her if I can speak to him over the phone, and she said that I'd have to speak with him in person - but of course I'd have to pay the $425.00 fee. Sounds a bit dodgy to me. Is there any way to find out if he really has dealt with TTA? Any ideas/suggestions/comments? p.s. He doesn't accept insurance from what I understand, also, is that common for Dermatologist'?

  13. I have a question - either for yourself or anyone else that might be reading: How would you be able to tell if the Doctor has had any complaints in regards to a "bad procedure"? Unless it's the law, I'm not so sure they would keep a track record of any of the so-called "complaints" that might have been made. Any suggestions as to how one can go about finding out whether or not a certain establishment has any negative markings? Thanks!
  14. What a blessing it would be if they'd be able to use my chest hairs. I have more than enough on there to cover a few hundred heads.
  15. Thanks a lot for the response, guys. My main concern with using my donor area is that I usually trim the sides really low - downwards of about a 0 blade, and that's pretty much why I don't want any visible scaring. I'm kind of (actually very) frustrated and confused as to what I should do right now. Where does the donor area begin and where does it end? Maybe the physician can take the grafts from right behind the top of my head? That way I'd be able to trim the lower portion and sides of my head without the possibility of any scars showing. Any other thoughts?
  16. From the chest (or any part of the body) though, Gorpy?
  17. I guess the problem is that you'll simply never know, man. For instance, you have the FDA claiming that a certain food or drug is great for you this year and then studies prove that the same food and/or drug is cancerous the next. Maybe wearing a hat does cause baldness - Who knows? Maybe it doesn't! I can see how you would ride such a conclusion, tho'. I mean wearing a hat surely must cause some kind of damage to the hair - lack of venetaliton, maybe? On the other hand, by simply using the process of elimination, you really haven't any solid proof that would indicate such a claim as being accurate. I mean I've pretty much been wearing a hat every day of my life for the past 10 years or so and thank God I still have my hair. I think there are many factors one can take into consideration (i.e. Lack of Diet, Stress, Exercise...just to name a few) as to why people go bald, so it's kind of dodgy to completely blame your hairloss on wearing a hat, ya know? Just my $0.002
  18. Thanks for the reponse, Bspot, hairbank, and Hair Apparent It might help if I mention that I have Temporal Triangular Alopecia (TTA). It's an oval shaped area on the right side of my head which is missing hair. I was told by a physician on this board that it would generally take between 100 and 200 grafts to fill in. Even though it is a small area to cover, I still want the best procedure, whatever it may be ??“ of course, as long as it doesn't involve the STRIP method.
  19. Exactly! The thing with me is that I don't want any scars anywhere. I don't want to go through with the STRIP procedure. What I had in mind was to have the surgeon perform FUE, but use my chest hair instead of follicles from my head. That's what I'm trying to inquire about - whether that would be a good transplant or not.
  20. Hello, I've asked a few questions on here before, but I'm still debating on whether or not I want to go through with any of the procedures that are available at the moment. I just wanted to ask you guys whether or not you've heard of a transplant procedure that involves extraction of hair follicles from any part of the body. For instance, I was told that there is a physician that would be able to extract hair follicles from my chest and insert them into the needed area on my head. Is this possible? If so, what are your thoughts on this? Thanks, -Anthony

  22. No one is helping me in this area. How does someone go about ensuring that the Physician is "Ethical" and "Skilled"? Also, how would I know that this person is an artist and is excellent at what they do? Would you please give me some pointers as to what I should ask in order to confirm and validate their experience in this field? Thanks again, -Anthony
  23. Ok, well maybe just one more question: What I'm wondering is, does the Dr. have to extract each graft from the same place on my head -which I'm noticing leaves a scar on the few patients I've seen-, or is it possible to extract from different parts of my head in order to prevent a consistent mark? The thing is, that I usually cut the edges of my hair fairly short, due to the fact that my hair is slightly curly; and in order to keep it clean, I have to use a size 1 on the clipper. And even if they can extract from the top portion of my scalp, I'd still prefer that I don't have a scar. So the question still stands. Once again, -Thanks
  24. Glad to hear that. I wasn't necessarily intending on scrounging around for the cheapest price; I have that "get what you pay for" mentality, but I surely won't refuse a good offer from a reputable Dr.. I have two more questions: 1.) If I do decide to go through with this procedure, will the implanted hairs act the same way all other hairs on my head do...naturally? Say for instance I lose my hair; or it starts to recede, will the implanted hairs recede as well; and at the same time, too, or will they stay in place? 2.) Is there any way that they can be implanted improperly -i.e. backwards (somehow), which would disrupt the natural flow of my hair? I'd really appreciate if someone can address these two specific questions, as I have been meaning to ask these them for quite some time. Thanks again, -Anthony Taylor
  25. -EDIT- Bradley, I've sent you a PM. Hey Bradley, So that's what it's called, huh? It's amazing how I never knew that. It's located exactly above and forward of my right ear...weird! Anyway, your help is greatly appreciated, man, thanks a lot! I read online that someone paid 13USD for each graft, so that gave me a ballpark figure on what I should expect - just incase anyone else might be wondering. Also, thanks to everyone else for their effort, every bit of info either helped me or -atleast- shed some light on this matter for me. Kind regards, -Anthony Taylor p.s. I'd post pictures but I don't have a camera nor do I have a scanner, so...
