  1. Just a thought... Being bald sucks, however I'm happy stem cell / cloning research money is being used for fatal diseases and brain trauma instead of on our egos. And, no cure needed for small wankers... it is all in how you use it.
  2. I drove home directly after both my surgeries, which is a 2 1/2 hr trip with no problems at all. The first trip was a little rough just because I didn't know what to expect, but since this is your second it will be easier --just like everything else. With the second, I haven't worried at all, haven't looked in the mirror much, or asked any questions from you guys because I've already experienced it all. You'll be fine. Just like someone had all ready said, the valium wears off by the end of the procedure anyway.
  3. Jake.... two months is not too early. My Ht's (2) growth also began around the 8 weeks period. Yes, the peach fuzz is your transplanted hair. The fuzz will darken as it grows longer.
  4. niceguy... if you don't run from Bosley you'll soon be known as pissedguy! I don't know exactly where you are at in PA, but if your close to Cleveland you may want to contact Dr. Haber's office. IMO, it's highly unlikely he will perform a HT... However, together you can certainly come up with a plan of attack. Being in PA you are surrounded by great docs. NY, Ohio, Jersey...
  5. worried... hang in there! You're really not going to see a aesthetic difference until you have a couple months of solid growth. You should be pleased in another two months. Yes, initially the hair comes in kinky and lighter in color, smaller in diameter and coarser in texture than your existing hair. However, at month 14 (after several cuts) it will be soft and you will not be able to tell the difference between the HT hair and others. In addition, yor HT will likely gain density until mo. 12. However, don't expect much density gain after mo. 7. After mo. 7 all the gains are what I said above and your hair will grow in diameter. Hang in there! I know it's tough. I just had a second HT May 22. Not being a newbie I know what to expect, but it still sucks. I would like to add one additional thing. The info above is based on my experience only. My first and now second HT has began to grow before two months post op. If you didn't experience growth until later you may want to push forward the time periods I provided.
  6. Does it pay anything? Or are we exposing our scalps again for nothing. Do you have a list of doctors to share with us? I'm sure you're not going to get any support for the hair mills!
  7. hair... crowd what plugs? You've had an Ht previously? Otherwise plugs are no longer the thing and it should never be called that! The coalition are the doctors that have proven themselves to be the best over time, set by the highest scrutiny by members and the founder of this forum. Anything less is unthinkable. If teh doc didn't come forward with his logic than it is time to talk to someone else.
  8. something... you can say what you want about memebers here all you want, but don't stab Pat. He is here to help more than any of us. He is doing what is best for newbies and others. I'm glad you had a great experience... more power to you, but don't start throwing mud. Think about those that have had subpar results. Pat has seen more HT's than most of the docs recommended here. He's a class act trying to help the people that don't know any better find a great physician. If Pat says that a dr's ethics or practice are questionable than it's time to listen. I can't help to think why your trying to defend a dr. so much... if he is that good he doesn't need your comments. B has been here a long time and he knows the drill and can spot a less than perfect treatment plan. Yes, perfect! If it isn't perfect for the patient than it's time that the doc isn't recommended. After all, it's all about the patient here not the doctor.
  9. under Find type in Dr. Tessler uncheck the search in current forum only and there is quite a bit of information for you.
  10. oh yeah... in the hands of a great surgeon, the donar strip doesn't take that long to remove. I never really timed it so I'm unsure exactly, I'm sure some here knows. It is a little intimidating, and by far is the most invasive part of the surgery, but it is much easier and less invasive than getting a wisdom tooth removed. It's really not that bad with the newest proceedures.
  11. hair... to answer your question about ear to ear strip ie. smaller sessions require less donor removal, hence, smaller strip. For that many FU's you will have approx. a 11"-15" incision, depending on donor density, which in no way would be over the ear. However, and this is big, you make certain that they transplant each and every hair they take out of your head! Also, you need to know what your potential hair loss will be. 1200-1400 fu's is not much coverage. Are you planning on more than one HT? Most everyone here recommends huge sessions and their points and results are legit and they make very valid arguments. Ultimately, however, it comes down to what works for you. It sounds like you haven't really done much research. Spend some time here, ask for advice like you are now and then proceed with a HT.
  12. I agree with everything accept this part. Although redness certainly subsides within the first week, a pinkish tint stays around for about a month or better before your scalp returns to normal.
  13. Lon... just curious do you take valium to relax? That can certainly cause short lived palpitations!
  14. Wow! I sure wish I had both sides of the story here.
  15. Face... your blog is funny. So, lets hear about the gangster story. Sounds like your getting a HT for all the right reasons.
  16. Face... Yes, they are exciting days leading up to the procedure. I just hope your prepared for a few low months post-op. Many people get a little depressed because nothing seemingly is happening. You should look great by Febuary. Good luck to you.
  17. Hey mister, I'll sell you a genuine rolex for five bucks! Come on... wishful thinking!
  18. Dr. Gable... thanks for posting. Yes, Oregon is beautiful although, I've never made it that far north. I hope you can find time to add to some of the technical questions that are frequently presented on the forum... please excuse the goons... Hanks deal looked great!
  19. three weeks on proscar... a little early for a med shed. But perhaps, everyone is different
  20. well said guys. landofnid... Dr. Katz is recommended here, so it wouldn't hurt to talk to him. In addition, since your actually close to Jersey why not just cross the border and talk to a couple of the best there, also. I think Dr. Bernstein and DR.'s True and Dorin are located there.
  21. B... aren't antibacterial (First Aid) ointments white petrolatum? Maybe that is what she means by vaseline. sheltee... you better do what your surgeon suggest. A scalp reduction is out of most of our experience. However, the vaseline should come out after a couple/few washings with baby shampoo. But, not until you completely stop using it. And, don't be placing any other detergents or other crap on your head until your doc gives you the okay. May I ask... didn't the dawn soap burn like heck! Who told you to so that?
  22. Eman... I think kaman has the right idea. "I wouldn't ask him. If he wants anyone to know, he will mention it. Asking him could make him feel uncomfortable. Maybe you could start a conversation about how you're thinking about getting an HT and ask his opinion. Maybe he'll open up then." Only two people outside the surgical team know that I had 2 HT's (my hair stylist and 1 brother, of course, my brother has probably told some people). Anyway, if someone was to approach it like kaman said, I would probably open up to them. I would be excited about sharing the experience. In contrast, if your asking just to know and tell other friends... I suggest you keep quiet. That may end a friendship! Eventually, most people closest are going to know anyway depending on what NW he/or you are. However, people with class won't say a word. Hairbank... I agree if you have work up front (like me) it will be very noticeable post-op and during the initial growth stage. You'll suffer a lot of redness from pimples and/or ingrown hairs (that is were the hat comes in.) If you have hair to camoflauge that, you probably can get away with it going undetected. JakeVig... The first 4-5 months is a really uncomfortable feeling for us on the high end of The NW scale. The new growth looks ridiculous until there's some length to it and begins coming in evenly. My opinion it doesn't really look good until you've been able to cut it a few times (mo 9-10 and beyond.) Of course, that only holds true if you want your hair to be more than an inch long. If you wear it shorter then it will look better sooner, I suppose. If you have hair in the front and not touching that area and are just doing the crown 3 weeks I should say is plenty of time off. Either way, to look better, you will initially look worse.
  23. bezane... did I understand what you wrote? You're are not going to post here anymore! That would be cool because what your doing now is just down right ridiculous. Pat, this post should not be the first thing people see about a doctor that you trust. It's not fair to him that there're a bunch of... he doesn't need this bullsh#^ and either does Hank or the rest of us. I would like to see an end to this. For no other reason than; instead of an apology they get worse. This is no longer a productive thread. Can you kill it please! H&W is a class act, we all are aware of that. They don't need your protection or your input. Bezene... maybe it is you that is the shill!
  24. Thanks Pat... I knew Hank was for real! I saw that Dr. Gable was online today. I sure hope Hank feels welcome to come back. This sure seems like a mighty tough and opinionated crowd you have on here these days. Maybe I should post a little more often to level the playing field. I realize people want to protect your sight; I just wish they would do it with a little more tact. I think we can all learn a lesson here and point out to all to read Roberts message at the bottom of the forum. "The keyboard is mightier than the sword." I believe it applies to all attacks on personal intigrity. Quote as follows: There is a happy medium, of course. In a sea of grey area, it is my opinion that the best life raft is one built of patience and good judgment. Had the poster presented his case in a tactful, concise manner perhaps he would have gotten a bit more sympathy for his plight; or at least the common courtesy of a more positive and responsive listening environment. Again, this post is not meant to discuss the example that I used. I wanted to make public my plea to all posters to breathe before they type; to think of the possible consequences before striking that "Enter" key. I don't want to stifle the exchange of information in any way, shape, or form. I only want us to ensure the exchange is civil and positive in nature, even when the content many times is not.
  25. At the advice from my Doc... Your okay to get a haircut 3 weeks post op. Good idea washing it yourself, first. No other advice really, you're good to go. However, if your scar is tender still you may ask them to be careful combing through your hair.
