  1. Dave, I think toppik is great. I have htin hairs in fron, (hairine and frront of the scalp area) and apply it there. I tmakes it look a lot darker and fuller. I use this spray and it sticcks on pretty good. I do get nrevous whenever it starts raining, because I think it can come off. The custoimer service is really good, and there's a guarantee if you don't like it. I figured nothing bventured, nothing gained. I'm glad I tried it because I use it all the time now. I feel naked without it...which I guess can be a bad thing to. CG
  2. Thankyou all for your input. FoxLox-I'm only 24, and I am on rogaine (for 4 yrs) and propecia (for 4 months). And I probably will lose at least a little more, so I would go for a conservative, yet dense hairline. I am not happy with the amount of hair I have, but when I use the toppik, I can live with the look. But that may not be the case if I keep losing it, because you need a certain level of hair to make the concealers work for you. If I was older, I would agree, get a HT and stop worrying about and messing with the toppik. But since I'm young I may want to wait to see how much more I lose before I sit in the chair. Bu then again, if I wait and continue to shed, that means it would be harder to conceal the HT, and I would have a period of greater baldness and inability to effectivly use toppik. Dog chasing it's tail....
  3. If I'm notg certain that now is the time to get a HT, does that mean I'm better off waiting? CG
  4. Thankyou eberybody for chiming in, please keep em comin. Hairbgoin- I'm not ready to "committ to balding", but if I can use propecia and concealers, that's one route to go with it's own set of pro's and cons, just like a HT has it's own set of pros and cons. I feel if I can wait six months or more, then I should wait. Maybe I'll be more convinced to get one then, or maybe realize I don't want one. And I always have the toppik. But I need to stop obsessing in the mirror about it. That's the tough part. I'm letting it take up too much of my time. WAY too much time. So I need to act now, or make a decision to wait -- and be at peace with that decision. CG
  5. I feel like all I do is read sites and research, but I am no closer to a decision. I feel I am as educated as possible, have a top-notch doc and excellent donor supply (accroding to doc), and realistic expectations about what I can get out of a HT (mature hairline, etc..) But I am still hung up on the fact that I'm 24, and don't know if I am ready to committ to this for life (time and money). Even with this top-notch doc, I'm not 100 percent sure the result would be great, and that I want a scar in the back of my head. On the other hand i don't want to be bald. And even if this doc does a good job, then the good result would come with the trade-off of having to accept all the above concerns (money, time, future commitment, scar). I know this sounds jumbled, but i just can't seem to pull the trigger, even after I've done a ton of research. Is there any one thing that made you guys decide to accept all the above risks and drawbacks, and just go for it? Also, was it as tough as a decision for you guys also? Any guidance is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks! CG Also...I'm on propecia and rogaine. I know I could always wait on getting a HT, but I feel that is just procrastinating the decision-making. And I probably wont see much hair regrowth in the front and temple areas.

  7. It works okay on the hairline, but best on the crown. In the front of my head it works good to make it look denser, and in my thin hairs in front, I can put it on those. It is a little tricky making it look decent around the hairline. but the end result for me at least is a thicker front area and a fuller hairline. I have not found a website that shows pics of this. 8. I was almost at the point of making my decision to get a HT, but then I tried toppik and it gave me more to think about. The toppik on my hairline and frontal forelock area actually makes a big difference, and it looks real. I still have a high hairline and receded temples, but it looks a lot denser. So I'm not thrilled with how I look, but it's better than nothing. The look is still not as desirable as the look I would get with a good HT. So the new question plaguing me: is it worth the time, money and future commitment to get a HT, when I can get just use the toppik and get a not-as-good (but acceptable) look? It would be nice to not be slaved to the toppik every time I go out, plus I believe my HT would look a lot better in the long run and be a more permanent solution. Fire away, gentlemen. CuriousGeorge

  10. Justin, Thanks for being such a sport and helping us out. Everything on you looks great as far as I can tell. If you don't mind me asking, how many grafts did you have put in, and how much did you pay. Just doing a little comparison shopping. Mr. T- When you say "grafts fell out", did you mean "hairs" fell out, but then regrew, or did the graft actually fall out and not grow back? CG
  11. If you say "do it once and do it right", then I recommend the prudent track of waiting and researching for a while longer. I'm on the younger side, and I'm considering right now also. I've come to the conclusion that 1000-1500 is what I'll go for, anything less than that may not be worth all the hassle. But then again, each case is different. Like I said before, in order to do it right, I'm doing a ton of research. CG
  12. Justin, thanks for sharing. Have your friends noticed? Does your scalp feel tight? Thanks! CG
  13. Thanks for the feedback guys. Obviously i would prefer that the Doc be as involved as possible. Why is he not more involved? If you decide to go to a doctor, you choose him for his skills, not his technicians' skills. Also, is it unusual that he doesn't make the slits? CG
  14. Which Limmer did you guys use? Dad Bob or son Brad? For any of you that have had HTs done by a Limmer, I'd love to see photos. Thanks! CG
  15. DN and others, I visited MHR in Austin while in college (about three years ago), and they were flat out salesmen. After revisiting the thought of a HT the last few months and researching it, I am sooo glad I did not do it with those guys. I e-mailed Limmer and the son Brad, he called me the next day and we talked. I had a very positive experience with him during my consultation and a very good feeling about him. Still don't know wheter or not to get a HT, but if I do, it will most likely be with Limmer QUESTION FOR KOURION: What do you mean "although the doctors do not do the transplanting." The way I understood is that it is normal for the doctor to remove the strip and cut the slits in the head where the new hairs will go. After that, isn't it normal for the girls to do the rest? Anyone please chime in THANKS! CG
  16. It seems that the majority of the posters here are all for getting it done. But the poll results weigh heavily against going under the knife. If any of you out there that regret your HT read this, I'd love to hear more in detail about why you regret it. I'm considering right now and would like to have a more accurate view of both sides of the coin. Thanks. Sincerely, CG
  17. Justin, I am in the situation you were in several months ago---researching and considering. Where there any defining factors that made you go for it? I'm on the fence right now and will probably go for it, but am weary of the risks of it being bad, scar area, people noticing, strong possibility of second HT (I'm 24). How did you work through these factors and reach a decision? Thanks CG Also any updated pics would be awesome. I'd love to know what it looks like at one week, two weeks, etc. I may be in your shoes soon!
  18. A bg reason I haven't signed up is because I'm young. I'm almost 25, and have been losing it since 21. I have been on propecia for 3 months. Even if the propecia stops the loss, I am not happy unless I have a good amount of regrowth. Here's a couple of pics, I welcome ALL of you guys to please tell me what you think. I am aware at my young age, I might need another HT down the road. I'd accept that if I could get a restored hairline and thickness. The guy i saw suggested a modest hairline, nothing like I had in my teens. THANKS everybody...do your worst! CuriousGeorge

  20. Has anyone out there heard anything positive (or negative) about any specific HT docs in the Dallas area? Thanks CG

  22. Thanks for the reply Arfy...hope you (and others) can reply to this one also. What is Avodart and how is it different than Propecia? Rogaine has not slowed down anything, and I stopped the Propecia afer one week b/c I had a bad reaction to it. (That was 4 years ago). I just started Revivogen three months ago. No slowdown of loss yet, but it's only been three months. About the transplant, I'm a Norwood 3 or maybe a little higher. Does hair that falls out from shock loss eventually grow back? Wouldn't the transplant ultimately increase my hairline, or would it just screw up my head when the hairs behind the transplanted hairs fall out in five-ten years? And yes, i plan on doing heavy research. Any comments would be welcome! Fightin the good fight, CG
  23. When deciding to get a HT or not, how old does one need to be? Or is it more a question of how advanced your hair loss is? I'm 24 and have been losing it since age 20. It has always been a temporal loss/receding hairline. But lately it has accelerated in the hairline and the top of my head is thinning as well. Do I need to wait for more to fall out before I have a transplant? I wish to avoid having two surgeries. Any advice or thougths on the age issue (as it relates to possible future surgeries) would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! CuriousGeorge By the way, Rogaine and Propecia have done nothing for me.
