Hello, I am 35 and did my HT at the beginning of the last week in Rio de Janeiro / Brazil. I have a more diffuse type of hair loss, so I decided to thicken it. Before that I was researching at this page and I must say it helped me a lot in my decision and to take away the fear that I had. It impressed me, how many people went through the same corridor. And how many helpful persons are driving this forum. Thanks!!
The doctors here are quite competent - espacially in the field of plastic chirurgie - and the one I choosed seems to be one of the best in the continent in HT. He is doing this since 7 years now, is always occupied with HT and comes from a plastic-chirurgical background. His advises seemed very responsible (hairline not to far downwards - apearance in later years, considerations about the amoun of hairs, that should be taken from the donor-area, the scar, and that before the OP he could not say, how many FU's he will be able to take from the strip...). He did of course the FU-Type of Transplantation. I had a good feeling and still have it. The scar seems to be healing fine and the scabs are gone after 10 days.
But now I would like to know, how many FU's where taken from my back-haed; what amount of work was been done and last but not least, what can I expect. The assistent of the Doctor spoke a very good english (not like me) and she was member of the operation team, which - as far as I could see - consisted of for or five persons. During the operation I was sleeping and when I woke up everything was done. The duration was about 4 and a half hours. The assistent of the Doc told me later, that she counted 3853 FU's. And she said, that I had a lot of 4-hair units which had to be placed in the top-area (not the crown...) The crown was not coverd by this procedure.
First I was amazed by this number. But while I was thinking about it, a litle bit later, I asked myselfe, if this is really possible. I Consider this number and devide it with the minutes during the OP->makes about 14 FU's in a minute-> and these are about 4 seconds per FU!!! Is this possible? Was I the sleeping widness of a new world record? When I did my researches here I found a lot of numbers related to FU's and OP-time and there was no one which was close to this. At least I didn't find any. But maybe I missed something?! Then, the second mathematical consideration is this: the region covered by the HT was aproximately 10x12 cm -> 120 sqcm -> so there shoud be an average of about 32 FU's per sqcm. When I count theFU's in the hair line area, which is probably the densest, I come to not more than max. 15. So this is about the half. And I could see, that the rest is not that dense covered...
But maybe I'm completely wrong with these estimations and everything is totally different??!!
I would really appreciate if somebody could help me finding a solution for this miracle.
Thanks, Maximilian
