  3. hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any info about ipl treatments. My reason for inquiry is because im 71/2 months post op from 500 grafts placed into my temple regions and I still have a pinkness skin discoloration in my recipient area that has me bothered. My results didnt come in full as i would have expected, andI believe that the discoloring makes my transplant noticiable. So I was thinking about shaving the recipient area and treating this area with ipl which is the most advanced medical treatment for the skin. Does anyone have any good advice for me, and will this affect the grafts at all?? thanks
  4. thanks for the reply gorpy, but im looking for more of a permenant solution, i can manage right now cuz my hair is long and covers my temples, im just worried that the pinkness will be permenant
  5. im 5 1/2 months post op from a minor ht(500 grafts into my temples)and my recipient area is still pink. This has me really worried because i didnt get satisfactory results(even though i went to a top recommended doc) in one of my temple areas and now the pinkness draws even more attention! My right temple area is still slightly pink but the grafts grew in to cover it, but in my left temple the grafts came in very thin and sparse and you can clearly see the pinkish recipient area. Is there any type of cream I can use that will clear the pinkish area? Is there anything a dermetalogist can do? This has me freaked out becuase my back up plan was if the ht didnt come out well or if years down the road i started to lose more hair i would just shave my head completly bald, but i cant even do that now because of the pinkish areas! Should i be worried or will eventually these areas clear up and be unnoticable and back to normal?
  6. Hi guys Im about 4 1/2 months post op, and im starting to get worried. I had 500 grafts total placed into my temple regions(about 250 in each). So far more grafts have sprouted on the right side with decent coverage and it seems to blend pretty well. The left side on the other hand has me worried. The left side so far does not have the same coverage and same amount of hairs grown in as the right side. It also doesnt blend in like the right side either. This has me concerend, although im only 4 1/2 months post op, i do relaize i may have more growing to be done. Should I be concerend about this? Is it normal for one side to grow in faster then the other? My second really big concern is that im still red in the recipient areas. Its not as bad on the right side i think becuase i have more coverage on that side. But on the left side it is definatly still noticable and attracts attention. Ive been using witch hazel at night but doesnt seem to help much. Luckly I have my hair grown out enough that i can hide it. Im really worried about this though, I see my doctor on january 5 for a 6 month review. Has anyone heard of redness lingering for this long? Is there anything i can do? In the worst case scenario and it still continues to linger is there anything a dermatologist can do? thanks for your time i would really appreciate any replys.

  8. hey guys, Im 4 months out and I smoke a few cigs a day, my concern is if this will play a role or have any effect on the growth of my grafts? Im also still some what red in the recipeint area, should i quit until the redness has dissapeared completly? Is it normal to still have redness in the recipient area at 4 months post op?
  9. thanks for the feedback, I currently use nioxin which supposedly helps to block dht, but who knows if it really works or not.
  10. Hello, I have white crust in the area of where the grafts were placed, has anyone else experienced this? Is this dandruf, Ive never had dandruf before and its basically only in the recipient area. Does anyone know what this means? Could this be due to new grafts that will be coming in soon? I will be 4 months post op on Nov 5, as of now i dont have anywhere near the expected results, i have some small hairs some white some black, but they definetly do not cover my whole recipient area. By the way I had 500 grafts done total in my temple regions. And one more thing is that directly after my op my recipient area was not covered in small grafts or hairs, maybe a few but definetly not 250 in each region. Can anyone tell me what that means? Thanks

  12. so are you saying it might not ever go away? What if the ht is not successful, will there be anyway to make the redness go away completly? And will it always come back if your in the sun???
  13. hey guys thanks for the replies, I do find my head to be itchy a lot, I think this is because I only shampoo and condition my hair every other week. I do not use minoxodil and i dont use nizoral shampoo, the shampoo i use is nioxin.
  14. hello, I am about 3 1/2 months post op and am still slightly red(more pinkish)in my temple areas where my surgery was done. I had 500 grafts placed into my temple regions. Im concerened as to why the area is still redish and want to know if this has happened in any other cases. I would also like to know if there is anything I can do to help take away the redness. Thanks

  16. thanks for the replys, I guess i need to just take a deep breath and wait a little longer. Its just I got worried after seeing that spock didn't have great results with the same doc that I went too. Also the fact that the redness is still there has me sketched a little bit, has anyone else heard of this happening to anyone else? Its not bright red or anything but I can definetly distinguish the area where the grafts were placed. Is there anything I can do to help this go away?
  17. and there hasnt been much growth yet. I had 500 grafts placed into my temple areas. If i look really close there is a few tiny hairs that you can see but thats about it. Now I know for some people it can take a little longer to see results but at almost 3 and a half months shouldnt I have a signifigant amount of little hairs growing in? Also my skin is still slightly red where I had the grafts placed. I can still see exactly the area he worked on. I do have sensative skin, to the point where the slightest little scratch with my finger nail will turn my skin red, so this could play a role in why the skin is still red. But at 13 weeks there shouldnt be any redness what so ever correct? Do some people differ on that as well?

  19. spotlightkid, hey it seems we share very similar stories, growing up i was always one of the best looking kids, full of energy full of life, when i was a senior my hairline started to recede on the sides and that just about destroyed my life. In fact i know it has. Like you ive cried myself to sleep, and frankly dont believe in the same god I used to because of it. Im 21 and just recently had 500 put into my temple regions, no growth yet but its only been about 2 months so i still have about another month until i start seeing growth. I thought this would make me happy and take away the pain but now it seems im plagued with a different set of feelings and thoughts. Its hard to except the fact that I will be chained to taking a pill the rest of my life(propecia) because if i dont im going to go bald and eventually my hair will recede past where my 500 were placed and I will look rediculous. It sucks knowing the fact that if i ever wanted to just leave somewhere, i couldnt do so unless i have my supply of propecia. Also its hard for me to think i will one day have to share this with my wife, she will have to know i had a hair procedure at a young age and that some good years of my life were destroyed by this problem. All in all though i guess we got to hope for the best, i can only hope the hair grows in nicely because then I guess i can start over having a normal social life and not have to worry about always concealing my hair line. I just wanted to say though i know it feels like no one else knows what we're going through and can relate, and im sure not many can, but when i read your post it sounded an awful lot like what i have been through these past four years. I hope all is well one day for you again, and that you will be truly happy and can enjoy the rest of your life. peace and love
  20. hi guys, i was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of someone having a ht with no results?
  21. hi, i know this question may seem weird but is there anyway to stop the transplanted hair from growing? Again i know this sounds weird but im about a month and a half post op and i feel as if i made a wrong decision. I had 500 grafts implanted in my temple region on july 5. I feel as if i made the wrong decision becuase after 4 years of hiding my hairloss and being ashamed of who i am i finally just cant take it anymore. I dont want to hide secrets anymore, i feel now that i have had this procedure im going to have to keep it a secret for the rest of my life and secretly take preopecia with out telling anyone. The reason i keep it a secret and have hid the fact that i have a receding hairline is because my hairline started to recede when i was 17 and i became very self conscience. Now i feel as if it was the wrong move to have this procedure done becuase even if it does come out looking great im always going to have that dark secret that i had a hair transplant at the age 21. Im also going to always have to depend on propecia taking it everyday or else my ahirline will recede past the implants and i will look like a freak. Therefor i inquire to know if there is anything i can do to stop the hair before they come in, if indeed so i will shave my head, discontinue the use of propecia and move on with my life. thank you for your help
