1. Frontalretreat, I am quite happy with Dr. Siporin's work, he definitely used ultra refined techniques. At my stage it is still way too early to see results yet but everything is as it should be and the donor area closure is quite impressive. His prices are the same as most doctors, he likes to give you a package price rather than charge per FU count, you definitely would not waste your time consulting with him.
2. You can run a search on this site using the find button, I did not see much positive stuff, you have so many better choices, don't take a chance. The link for the search: Unger
3. I think Phil Spector would be a good candidate, he has good hair taste What's his deal anyway???? Multiple Ht's?? Toupets?
4. I agree with Mrjb, the scar has never been an issue for me. A good surgeon will give you such a thin scar even your hairstylist might not see it. I had no pain during the healing process, the only real issue is the patience it takes to see the results come in ever so slowly.... If you pick a good Doc from the recos on this forum everything becomes very, very easy.
5. I know what you mean but this forum is very real, continue reading and posting and you will get lot's of responses and support, I know I got way more here than I would have from friends who would not understand why I would even do a HT anyway...
6. That's a cool story guys. I just hope none of us run into Hairobservator any time soon, the side effects might be severe
7. NN, I am grateful for your contribution and involvement, I have learned much from your knowledgeable and spirited posts. I understand very few of us can sustain this sort of time commitment, except for Bill of course but his clones give him an unfair advantage I am just back from a 3 week hiatus and I am not sure my current workload wil allow me to be as involved as I used to be. I'll look forward to your occasional posts and in particular when you decide to do IT.
8. We have very little info on your Doc here, I asked about him before but there was no feedback. Sorry you're having some lasting pain. 1000 FU seems like a low count considering your hairloss but I am not sure where you are exactly. If you could post pictures of before after it would be helpful.
9. Nice find Toad, this is a fascinating topic all together.
10. Congratulations to Bill on 2000 posts and thank you for spreading your knowledge, support and help to all of us. Happy Growing
11. Some HT patients lose the new hair, some don't, it's perfectly normal. Do you want to post an album of your pictures and details of your experiennce?
12. I went with dry healing the first time, the second Ht I went with "almost dry" healing, I would immerse my head in the bath tub, 10 minutes lukewarm water once a day, lying on my back in the filled tub, my head tilted back. I think it sped up the healing, at the same time I got Ultra Refined techniques which did not happen the first time. The laser comb is an expensive gimmick, some members bought it and reported it made their hair look and feel healthier but no regrowth. The shampoos are not really worth the money IMO but they are not that expensive like the laser comb, some members like the way it makes their scalp feel but no evidence of regrowth. Laser treatments, a member posted this very cool piece, I'll let you be the judge: BBC Watchdog Laser Therapy Report http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwWp5mlGtZU The only proven methods as you said are HT, Finasteride/Dutasteride and Minoxidil. Some Docs on our site like the laser treatments (not the comb), my feeling is they make your hair healthy and strong but that's about it.
13. There is a guideline, I vaguely remember Dr. Siporin measuring from the tip of my chin to the nose then the eyebrows and coming up with some king of ratio??? He then measured from my eyebrows to the hairline. I'll call him to see if it's a formula or whatever...
14. Hi Guitar, I believe that if your Doc diagnoses a treatable condition relating to stress, tyroid, nutrition, etc ... You will be able to reverse at least some of your hairloss.
15. Welcome TS, Sorry about your unproductive previous HT's. Your hairloss needs to be stabilized with Finasteride first, maybe you are already taking it, then there are many options depending on your donor supply. Even with a supply of only 3000 FU's you'll get a result that will be a HUGE improvement compared to your curent situation. Many options are available to you, don't rush, the more you know, the best choices you'll make. Some members spend months sometimes more than one year researching before reaching their best educated decision.
16. Middelson, You are getting closer to your spurt with everyday going by, it's only a few short weeks away now. I have a solution for the mirrors at the gym, instead of looking at your hair use them to check out the babes, incognito ...
17. Thanks for this John, it will be fascinating to hear the conclusion of the study. Please keep us posted if you can find a way to follow this up.
18. Welcome Guitar, It's nice to see you have done research and understand the pitfalls of getting a HT when young. I could be wrong but from your one and only pic you seem to have diffuse thinning, an unusual condition for men. IMO before even getting on Finasteride I would consult with a good Dermatologist to identify the cause and go from there. It could come from so many different reasons as you said, stress, nutrition, etc ... A good understanding of the cause is the first step.
19. I take 1/4 Proscar/day for now, after my HT matures a bit beyond 1 year I am planning to switch to EOD and see how it goes.
20. Glock, Your 5 months pics look great, balanced coverage and density. You're on the fast track now!!!
21. Welcome Happy, I am glad to read your realistic comments. Your case is similar to my 1st HT, I got an ok result with outdated but sound techniques. My second HT gave me the finishing touches I wanted using Ultra Refined techniques. You'll be fine, this HT will fit your needs for a while. These days because of increased competition (in part due to this forum) you can find Ultra Refined HT's for less than $4.00 per FU.
22. Maybe we could get Pat to look into this.... What do you think?
23. I concur with my buddies, it's too early, wait at least 6 to 8 months, late bloomers take one year. I am also in the dooldrums of the patience game, it's the toughest part, the HT in itself is a piece of cake compared to the cycle we are in.
24.
I have a buddy that is a NW5-6 and I truly believe that he would look like full coverage and good density with 3500 or less FU because he has a head the size of a peanut.
LOL It seems to me as we get older we tend to gain weight and our heads also expand (to a point) to the great disadvantage of our perceived hair density. If only we could find a way to shrink our heads we might be able to avoid an HT entirely. I understand a tribe in the Amazon is working on a drug for this, they will be running double blind trials and they need volunteers
