  1. I can't comment personally because I didn't experience noticable shedding on propecia, but I have read posts from other folks who shed and believed that the drugs really worked to regrow their hair. Good luck!
  2. Baxter...looks fantastic! congrats ..its great natural looking results like these that made me take the plunge and get an HT
  3. Good luck dude! You've done your research, chosen a first rate surgeon and you will be happy with the results!
  4. new2thissite..you've picked a great doc..good luck with your surgery. I ended up wearing a hat to work until the 1 month mark when most of my grafts had shed and the scar at the back was easy to cover up with some dermmatch, even with a buzz cut.
  5. I'm curious to hear others comment on this. I thought I noticed the same thing a few years ago, but dismissed it since it doesn't equate with MPB which is caused by DHT.
  6. Its natural to question your decision all the way up to the chair to have your donor strip removed . LIke thana said, if you chose a first rate surgeon you'll have first rate results. Don't worry about the barber....until your scar fades, you can always go to another barbers shop. That way even if you have to tell em, you don't really care.
  7. Looks great..thats a good number of grafts too! Heal, grow well and be patient..that waiting is hard!
  8. Congrats on make the decision to get an HT. All of Dr Farjo's recent patient pics have looked great. Good luck mate!
  9. The fact that you're flying somewhere tells me that you've done your research (who'd you choose out of curiosity). It is completely natural to be nervous before the big day. Just know that it is a road well traveled! There will be more emotional ups and downs over the next 6 months, but you will be happy in the end.
  10. I know exactly how you feel. I though about 3+ years before I did it. I will say this though, when I did take the plunge, I was confident I'd made the right choice. It could have been because my hair thinned quite a bit in those three years or it could have been the consistent results that I saw surgeons getting. Either way, you've picked a couple of good surgeons. Take your time and once you make up your mind, don't second guess yourself. It does get worse before it gets better, and in the ugly duckling stage everybody wonders if they made the right choice!
  11. looks like you healed up nicely. Things will start to get exciting in about 6 weeks. Be patient and grow well
  12. I was really worried about sides too..happy to report I had none. I was determined to continue for a month even if I saw sides because alot of times its all in the mind! Hopefully it will work out for you. If it doesn't you can always stop!
  13. As someone who wasted years on saw palmetto, I'd say get on propecia and rogaine that are proven to work. If you get any sides from propecia, you can think of alternatives. I thought saw palmetto had helped slow my hairloss but the pictures over years begged to differ! .
  14. Lookin good my friend. Congrats and take it easy for the next few days
  15. congrats on the HT and on picking an excellent surgeon. Good luck!
  16. Being a diffuse thinner shockloss was a big concern for me as it is for many. I've read a lot of threads and the bottom line is there is no way to predict shockloss. Some people have it worse than others and in most cases it is temporary. You can do 2 things though. First, get on fines (propecia/proscar) prior to procedure and second, pick a skilled surgeon. Good luck!
  17. Propecia works differently on different people. Even if it stopped or slowed down your hairloss, its still a win. Some people experience regrowth but not everyone. Its best to take pictures in the same light to document if there has been a change. Since you look in the mirror everyday you won't notice anything dramatic. Not sure about your minox question, I'd imagine that anything that regrew because of minox will be lost when you stop using it.
  18. Since you say that you've already scheduled your HT I'm guessing that you've already interviewed your surgeon. Assuming thats true, you want to meet him the day before, finalize your hairline, take pictures so that you can review them at home and like Dewayne said ask him how long the procedure will be and how many staff will be assisting.
  19. with your hairline intact, your new head of hair will look great. Congrats! Heal and grow well..and don't bump your head!
  20. Wait until the final results are in before making any decisions about who you go to for another HT! Personally, if a saw a strong negative review like PGP's I'd be grateful that I got away once and would run the other way, but having said, choosing a surgeon is a very personal choice. I'm curious about the number of grafts you had done. 830? 6500 in the crown? Hope you continue to grow well...good luck!
  21. I couldn't really tell..looks really minimal to me. Like Dr Carman said, get on Propecia/Proscar and Rogaine and don't worry about it! If you do start to lose more, feel secure knowing that there are great options for restoration these days...you're a several years away if you ever need it!
  22. Though I don't know what he thinks privately, but he has said on the air, that he thinks that it is part of getting older gracefully. Not sure why he uses toppik then!
  23. At 8 months, its not unheard of for the hair texture to be coarse and wiry. I've seen alot of people complain about that, but it changes as the grafts mature. I wouldn't expect that grafts to be that way at 18 months though. Hopefully you picked a reputed surgeon who was skilled at placing grafts at the correct angles. Give it some time.
  24. It is coming in really nicely for 5 months. It will look amazing once it has thickened and matured.
