  1. Looks like you've healed up nicely. The waiting will probably start to get to you but hang in there, you're only a few weeks from seeing growth.
  2. hairtobe.Congrats on your surgery. Take it easy for a couple of weeks as your grafts take root. Good luck and grow well!
  3. juju..good luck with the surgery. You've got a bit of a wait ahead but I'm sure you'll be happy in the end. This forum will continue to be a source of support and encouragement especially during the 2 and 3 month doldrums. Keep us posted on your progress.
  4. Congrats on the transplant. Don't let the gawkers bother you. You'll be so happy in a few months that this stage will be a distant memory!
  5. Sounds like you got good advice. Hopefully, propecia works for you and if it doesn't you know you've found an ethical surgeon you can trust when you do get a transplant. Good luck!
  6. Where did you have the grafts placed? Was the crown touched at all? Its a little hard to tell from the pics. There's definitely an improvement, though it does look a bit patchy. Could you take some pics of the hairline?
  7. I'm about 7 months post op and just got back from vacation. I went out without my hat, in the sun and found that my scalp was very sensitive. My recepient area had alot of redness which kind of freaked me out.I wore a hat for the rest of my trip and the redness went away. So my advice is either wear a hat or use some spray on sunscreen for your scalp. At 4 months, your grafts are well set, but don't risk sunburn.
  8. Thanks Eman. I'd read that at 6 months I should be ok which is why I went out without a hat..but its back to that hat for the rest of my trip. You're explanation makes sense..i'm hoping the redness will vanish after a few days.
  9. Hi I'm about 6 months and 2 weeks out from my procedure and everything is growing nicely. I'm on vacation and I took the liberty of ditching the hat when I went out a couple of days ago. I wasn't out for too long (maybe an hour) in the sun, but i'm noticing some redness in the recepient area, when i pull my hair back. Its not sunburn..but I'm freaking out. Anything I can or should be doing?
  10. I'm going on 6.5 months now, after my surgery with Dr Gabel and I'm reasonably pleased with where I am now. I'm waiting to go in for my follow up next month so I can post some good resolution pics. Glad to you hear that you're happy with you're results
  11. thanks for taking the time to look at my pics and share your comments. I am "cautiously optimistic" right now. There are a lot of hairs that are very fine still, and I'm hoping that as they thicken up they'll make the left side(where I'd lost most of my hair) look as thick as the rest.
  12. My doc shaved my recipient area. I had to wear a hat to work for the 1st month. After that I shaved down the sides and back and used dermatch to conceal the scar. That worked pretty well. You can check out my blog for pics. I didn't suffer too much shockloss (which was a pleasant surprise since I am a diffuse thinner), which made it easier to conceal the ht as the hair on top was mostly uniform even when the new grafts shed. As the others have pointed out, a lot depends on whether you have your head shaved for surgery. All in all, the first 2 months, or the ugly duckling stage is rough, but the return on investment is well worth the inconvenience.
  13. Hi all! Can't believe its been 5 months. The first 2 months dragged on forever but once I was able to ditch the hat and resume my "normal" activities, time has really flown! Here are two sets of pics. The first set has a my hair combed forward, for comparison with previous months when it was too short for any styling http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/journal.asp?CopyID=2287&WebID=787 and the second set with my hair parted on the side and combed up. Let me know what you guys think. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/journal.asp?CopyID=2288&WebID=787 PS> Spex/Bill....I put some aloe on it last night, for good measure

  15. fixing-it is spot in. Its totally normal. There will be more "white gunk" as the scabs start to come off, and all the grafts will start to shed. Though most docs agree that grafts are completely set at 10 days, but day 7 they're pretty secure. You'd have seen blood if you lost a graft. Btw..its totally natural to be paranoid in the first couple of weeks! Heal and grow well!
  16. what a huge difference between 4 and 5 months. I'd say I had similar growth at 4 months but no where near what you have at 4.5! Congrats man!
  17. aloe vera gel is fine as long as it contains NO ALCOHOL. It also helps with the itching. My doc asked me to use mineral oil..that worked pretty well too.
  18. I second what the others have said. You're a fast healer! Your recipient area looks great. You should have a great result. The sooner the grafts shed, the sooner they will return!
  19. I haven't researched temporal work specifically, but overall Dr Alexander and Shapiro are tops, but you probably already know this!
  20. Kris1982, Initial hairloss when you start a regimen of propecia and rogaine is very common and expected. If you continue taking the meds, the hair you initially lose will grow back. You need to give it a while to see whether its working or not. Good luck
  21. Its best to stay away for 10 days atleast. Do it on a thursday and go to work after your second weekend. I had a similar experience to Tubs. I was fine wearing a hat to work in the first month (I told anyone who asked I received stitches for a cut), and was able to drop the hat at 5 weeks.
