I am 27 and I have been on Propecia since Septermber of last year. Initially, I noticed my hair stopped falling out 100% (well as good as it could get). I thought I was dealing with a miracle drug. I think after 6 months or so I began to see some significant hair growth. However, it has now been almost 1 year and my recedding hair line is still slowly creeping in the wrong direction. (I am not sure if Procpecia is as affect in the frontal line ???) All in all I think it makes some difference and I am just trying to hold ground until something better comes along or I get over not having hair.

I too found the same result when I just took Rogaine; however, it eventually did stop. I never did notice good results on just Rogaine. Therefore after about 8 months, I went to Propecia and within a few days I did not lose a single hair (Or at least it seemed that way, I am sure I lost some). My mistake was that I then stopped using Rogaine because I thought Propecia would do the trick (plus Rogaine made my head flake.) I started to lose a lot of hair (may also be because I have been more stressed). The end result - I am now on both Rogaine & Propecia. Not sure how it is working

I have just started to take Lysine. I read that it helps Propecia and Rogaine work better. But I never read any medical evidence of this. Is this true? Can it be taken orally or does it have to be applied? (I have noticed that Lysine is sometimes included in shampoos). Has anyone had good luck with shampoos?

Thanks for the info. Have you seen any studies done with Lysine? How many mgs must one take?

I am a 27 year old male and I have been thinning since I was 19. I am losing my hair in the front and it is thinning on top (not the vertex). I think I am around a 3. Some of my uncles on my mom's side are pretty bald (5 or so). I just started to take Propecia about 2.5 months ago. Prior to that, I was on Rogaine. So far, I do not notice any benefit. I think I may be able to hold out for a few years, but would like to do some research. What are the best journals or magazines to get a good idea on hair transplant experts? I have gone for a free consultation (of course they say I am a good expert). Do you recommned going for free advice or is it a waste of time? Thanks for the help.
