What happens when I keep losing hair after transplants?
This 31 year old patient had a modest hair transplant totaling 2229 follicular unit grafts in 2006. Four years later he has continued to recede and lose his original nontransplanted hair. The after photos show significant improvement in light of his progressive loss. The patient was primarily interested in maintenance of where he was and consequently has not desired any further procedures. In patients undergoing continued androgentic alopecia, the transplanted hairs will remain. Consequently in younger patients it is important to understand that density may not be significantly increased over time if you continue to lose hair due to genetic androgentic alopecia.
